I more than anything would like to experience an OOBE/Astral Projection.  I have been trying for only a little while and havent really felt anything.

I would like to start a blog with this topic telling you all of my experiences and what I feel.  I trust that this is the best community to help me a guide me along my way.  I will start with this afternoon for it is the closest I think I have came.

I must tell you that I fall asleep very fast.  And so when I tried this afternoon I knocked out quickly.  But I woke up with a huge knock in my mind and shot out of bed about ten mintutes after hitting the hay.

So I tried again; and very quickly my body was relaxed and very numb, almost like I couldnt move.  I tried to imagine that I was flying out of my body.  I imagined my room, looking back at myself, and even flying around familiar places around my apartment.  Every time I felt like it might be real, I felt like I was still lying in bed.  I could never shake this huge connection I had with my physical self.  I tried to relax more and go again, but to no success.

When I woke up though, It took a few minutes to adjust to my surroundings.  The light wasnt right and everything was fuzzy.
What did I do wrong, or forget to do?  What are some tips to try next time?

Please advise me even if you think someone else will.  I have read so much on this site and others.  I am about to go find a book.
Any suggestions will help

I'm just like you lol. im trying to OBE too. I tried twice today and was relaxed for like an hour and didn't feel anything. Only time I feel vibrations is when i'm tired at night but in the morning I just lay there for an hour. I made a blog about how I'm progressing. Hopefully we can AP!! and maybe i'll see u in the astral plane if we can do it

You said that your body was numb, which is good but losing all awareness of your body is better. In order for a method that relies on visualization to work, one must completely focus on whatever their imagining (the more senses that are incorporated into the visualization, the better). Don't pay any attention to your body at all.

If you're not good with visualizing things, then maybe you should try Robert Bruce's 'ROPE' method because it uses Tactile Imaging (which basically means to mentally recreate or imagine the feeling of something) instead of visualization.

Thank you Prophazuh, I will read these.

I will try again tonight and probably tomorrow afternoon.  I want to practice as much as possible on the weekends.  Because during the week work gets busy and I dont have much time to go through the routine.  During the week I mainly practice relaxation techniques or concetrations excersises.

Any other help throughout my process will be greatly appreciated

Ok so last night I didnt try to OB on my way to sleep.  I was way to tired.

But this morning when I woke up I think I gave it 2 good tries.  I finally felt tiny vibrations throughout my body.  I got excited and they went away
Then I tried again and this time I heard the vibrations like a "Wah Wah".  It was real slow and started to pulsate my head.  I again got excited and lost my concentration.

I atleast know what these feel like and realize it might come in other forms and to try to concentrate on whatever tactic I was using to reach that state.

What feels strange is that my body is out cold but my mind is wide awake.  And I cant seem to disconnect from my physical mind.  I will keep on practicing and reading up

Dont give up.
I just made a chart that kinda just came to me. Basically what it is - is a line on a sheet of paper going horizontally. One end of the line represents the beginning of the waking period of the first day and the other end represents the end of the sleep cycle on the 3rd day. Picture now a sinewave from point A to point B and the curvature of the wave goes above and below the middle horizontal line. Now superimpose a thicker opaque line over the horizontal line, this line represents the state that is most condusive to attempting an AP/OOBE. The thicker, opaque line should illustrate 30 minutes - 1 hour of time BEFORE sleep and AFTER sleep. This tells me that the best time to try to AP is 30 minutes to an hour after you lie down for sleep and 30 minutes to an hour after you wake up. I have read accounts where people wake up at night to go to the bathroom or read or whatever for 30 minutes to an hour and then have vibrations. I have also read where interrupting normal sleep cycles confuses the body and kind of throws things out of whack or out of balance (not in a bad way!!) so the body tries to compensate and/or overcomensates and you get these weird events of SP. We all know that everyone (or most everyone) has SP every night when we sleep and consciously observing sleep paralysis is usually an occurrence of an anomaly. If we can find a way to induce waking consciousness while having SP (as people already have) it could help those of us that have a harder time AP'ing to achieve this goal. I know this has already been stated countless times elsewhere, I am just confirming it etc. and adding some personal observations of my own. So try the wake up for an hour and then go back to sleep method and see if you get any results. Another thing also, if you want to do meditating or exercises, try doing it sitting up or somewhere that you dont/wouldnt sleep normally. I used to try doing this in my bed but I would end up losing willpower and turning over and going to sleep because I got frustrated or bored/tired. I have been doing it in my chair at my computer desk and on my couch in my living room in a sitting position and I have been having some interesting results. No OOBE yet and maybe some very mild vibrations if any but I have been feeling shifts in consciousness and have been seeing through my eyelids some. Basically I have just been experimenting with the trance state and letting my mind/body learn these states and the transitions between each one and the sensations and trying to train my mind to stay away when my body wants to fall asleep. I am making progress nontheless!
