A little about me and them I'm looking forward to diving into some of the discussions.  First off, I'm glad I found this place.  I see by the number of members that I'm not the only one!  As I mentioned in my previous post I contributed quite a bit to the alt.out-of-body newsgroup many years ago for a number of years which was a great experience and I had an opportunity to meet many wonderful astral travelers.  I hope some of you here recognize me and say hello.

I've been having OBEs since I was about 21 which was decades ago.   and I've had several hundred projections since then.  I've had a number of really intense, long, fantastic trips, a few of which I've documented and I'll share some of my favorites with you when I can.

I can certainly say that these experiences have totally changed my view of reality and the meaning of life.  I feel totally blessed that I've been given this "gift" although I do believe that anyone can develop this ability, just some more easily than others.

Let's see, what else....I find it most easy to have an OBE early in the morning, and especially if I happen to wake up in the middle of the night, read (about astral projection of course), sometimes have a cup of coffee, then go back to bed.  The combination of waking my mind up (both with the coffee and by reading) seems to be a good combination and being in the middle of the night, my body will fall asleep, leaving my mind awake and giving me a good shot at an OBE.  I usually depend on the "vibes" to guide me into a projection and certainly I always listen for the sound of the wind in my ears which always proceeds the vibrations and use that as my first indicator to move into the best mental place so an OBE can happen easily.

If anyone has any questions about my method, feel free to ask and I'll answer as best I can.

Happy traveling.

Welcome Ken, glad you are here.
The coffee does seem to give me the vibes when taking a nap, and it seems to produce the beginning of an OBE whether its wanted or not....
Looking forward to hearing some of your experiences.

Thanks Jeff,  I hope you get over your fear of the vibrational state, but I understand it.  It can be pretty scary.  I don't know how long you've been trying to get past this but if it's any help, try and think of it as a car full of your friends pulling up along side your house on a quiet night and blaring the horn real loud.  At first you'll be startled, but very quickly you realize the horn and "party" are synonymous and when you hear the horn you think party.  So it is when I get into the vibrational state, I can't wait to get out.  When I hear the whistle in my ear, it's like the train ride to adventure land for me and nothing is going to stop me and nothing excites me more and I really think this type of attitude is necessary to have a nice clean exit and an easy time moving about.

Thats a good point.  I haven't really had any really bad experiences upon exiting, or waking up in RTZ/Astral.  I've had the usual hearing voices, feeling something animal like making noises and on me, etc.  When I was younger, like from 4 yrs. old an on, I would have vivid rtz and astral experiences.  Many of them were negative, having "beings" messing with me and pulling me around.  At that time I instinctively knew how to induce lucid dreams, and how to wake out of them.  Sometimes I would be unable to easily wake from them, or have a false awakenings which were even worse.

But really I guess the fear comes from having  sleep paralysis and getting "messed" with immediately upon exit.  Once exited I don't care and will face anything, but being unable to move initially makes it scary...

I am trying to take your advice and always associate the vibrations with a good impending experience.  When consciously trying, I can induce these experiences or at least a partial exit 9 out of 10 times..

With that said, having a frequent availability to these experiences should be taken advantage of, and not squandered.
