I started to consciously have them suddenly at the age of 23.  I am turning 27 now.

A little of both.  My first experience happened after I put down reading a Robert Monroe book.  I wasn't expecting it to happen.  It just did.  Since then, I have practiced this skill, trying to refine it so that they occur more frequently.

2.  How often do you have OOE's? (i.e. once a week, once a month, once a few months with difficulty, whenever you want.)

I would say that my average is once every 2 weeks.  Sometimes longer depending on the dry spells.

3.  When is the best time of day for you to perform OOE's?(i.e. First waking up, before bed)

For me, it's usually in the wee hours of the morning after I have been asleep for many hours.

4.  Do you lay down or sit in a chair while performing OOE's?

I always lay down.  I can't get comfortable while sitting.

5.  How long does it take you from initiating a trance to projection-exit that becomes OOE?

All of my OBE's happen spontaneously.  In other words, I do a lot of meditation and trance exercises when I lay down.  Then, I usually fall asleep and snap back to conscious awareness sometime later.  It's almost as if I set up the environment to project, and then hope that it happens shortly afterwards.  While most of my projections happen after I have been asleep many hours, I have had a few that are triggered after sleeping for less than a minute.

6.  How long does your OOE's last?

I would say that my average experience is under 5 minutes.  I'm still working on improving this.

I used to believe that I never had one until I started practicing and training. But the more experiences I have, the more I realise that two spontaneous earlier experiences I had were probably out of body ones (one in the astral plane and one in the real time zone). I had those two experiences when I was about 17.

See question 1.

I tend to have OBE's occasionally; a bunch of three or so every month or two.

My experiences have happened when I was already asleep, but they usually come after doing meditation/energy work a few days prior. I usually train at 7:00 PM or so (mornings are too early for me and at night I tend to fall asleep). Most projectors start off having their experiences while already asleep, as it takes a long time to build up the ability to relax enough during meditation (I still haven't pulled one out of a meditation yet).

I lie down, always. I cannot get neither comfortable, nor relaxed enough whilst sitting up.

I haven't gotten that far yet

My longest OBE has only lasted a few minutes.

1. When did you start having OOE's? (i.e. age)

I had my first OBE when I was around 16 (don't remember my actual age).

2. Did your experiences start spontaneously or were you taught/teach yourself?

My first experience was spontaneous. I was sitting in class in high school and felt this strong energy or vibration. I concentrated on it, not know what it was at the time, and I was suddenly on the astral standing in this field surrounded by a forest.

The rest of my experiences are sort of a mix. Mostly they happen when I want them to, though sometime they happen when I am just trying to meditate. It was a few years after my fist experience that I learned what it was and started studying how to do it. I took what I learned and experimented to get what works best for me.

2. How often do you have OOE's? (i.e. once a week, once a month, once a few months with difficulty, whenever you want.)

Well due to lack of time lately I have not had one in several months, probably around April was the last time I had one. When I try I can usually have one about every day, atleast a few times a week when I have practiced and have the time.

3. When is the best time of day for you to perform OOE's?(i.e. First waking up, before bed)

In the afternoon or evening is the best for me. The morning in not good as I am either too tired or too awake to try then. At night I am usually too tired and fall asleep. The afternoon or evening is best as at that time I have got some things done and feel I can relax better without being too tired and fall asleep.

4. Do you lay down or sit in a chair while performing OOE's?

When I am trying I usually lay down, but I have projected a few times sitting up, such as with my first experience.

5. How long does it take you from initiating a trance to projection-exit that becomes OOE?

15 -  30 minutes is usually a good time. A few times it may happen sooner, but I am usually not relaxed enough if I do start to leave that soon and it does not usually last but a few seconds. If it takes longer that 45 minutes then I usually take a break or just try to meditate.

6. How long does your OOE's last?

Any where from a few seconds to a few minutes. I have not had any long experiences yet, but hopefully I will be getting more time to practice soon and can improve this as well as my over all projecting.

Here is a link you might find interesting. The book mentioned is a good read as well.

Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

Hello everyone,

I had a few questions for the more experienced people out there and hoping you could answer them.  I am reading Astral Dynamics and haven't gone beyond theory yet (almost) :) so I am unsure if this is covered in the book. I have never had an OOE.  Just meditation that I have done and have had 1 deep, slow vibration experience.

1.   When did you start having OOE's? (i.e. age)

2.  Did your experiences start spontaneously or were you taught/teach yourself?

2.  How often do you have OOE's? (i.e. once a week, once a month, once a few months with difficulty, whenever you want.)

3.  When is the best time of day for you to perform OOE's?(i.e. First waking up, before bed)

4.  Do you lay down or sit in a chair while performing OOE's?

5.  How long does it take you from initiating a trance to projection-exit that becomes OOE?

6.  How long does your OOE's last?

Thanks for answering some of my questions.  Best wishes.
