Ok, I've done everything I've possibly could. I've been practicing meditation and projection for around 2 months now, and I'm in a rut. I've had lucids, and I've gotten tingles, and I've gotten no feeling in my hands/ numbness, and a feeling of another set of hands, BUT I JUST CAN"T LEAVE! I WANT TO! BUT HOW!  I CANNOT LEAVE MY BODY! I get to a point where if I try any longer, I just fall asleep, or I get to deep in my lucidness. How do I leave? Please, just any stimple tips, when i get to the point where I can't feel my hands, but almost feel a second set, do I just try to raise them up? When you guys leave your body, do you feel each part go numb, and then slowly move each part out? I don't know what to do past the point where I get so concentrated that I go past the point of ever projecting?! Please, just anything will help right now. One time, I had sort of an OBE, like, I was meditating, and I got up because I heard all this shouting, and I went to my bedroom door, and my mom was unscrewing the doorknob, and taking it off. And I was like, WTF is going on! And then I woke up, but after I woke up, and thought about, it was dreamlike, but it felt like before that, I had just returned from some distant place, but can't really remember. Like it's not a strong feeling, just very very weak. But that's the closest I've ever gotten, and I was no where near concious. Ok, I go through all the steps, I do everything right, it's just I get to a point where I'm like, " ok, just leave the body' and sometimes I'll get tingles all down my body for like a second, and feel like a higher conciousness, but this only last for like a second, and then disappears. I simply just want to LEAVE! HOW THOUGH? Are there any tricks of like picturing something in your head, or like, seeing your self floating up? Or, I don't know, I'll take anything. It just seems almost impossible now, because it feels like I want to, but I can't. It's very frustrating. For a while I was advancing rapidly, like one day i got no feelings in my hands, then the next day it was no feelings, and a higher state of thinking, then the next day, it was no feeling, higher state of thinking, and then lucidness, and so on, for a while, but for the past week or two, i've been stuck. It's like I can't go on further. I simply want to leave my body? HOW DO I TRICK MY BRAIN!? PLEASE HELP! I JUST WANT TO PICTURE SOMETHING< AND THEN JUST LEAVE AND BE FREE. I feel my body being heavy and everything, but I can't leave, it's like impossible, please help, and thanks for listening!

Your determination to go out of body is doing two things. First, you are making yourself tense. Second, it is keeping you from enjoying the benefits of your effort which are already coming to you. It is okay to let go and enjoy the ride. I know you are probably too tense for this to sink in, but it really does sound better than leaving it at "you're trying too hard". So long as you keep youself open to whatever you are experiencing, you will make progress.

Okay, first, take a deep breath.  Now.

What I've heard (though I'm not an expert), is that imagining yoursekf floating up is the best way to get out.  Also, picturing yourself from maybe, above yourself?  Maybe standing beside your bed, try and visualize your consciousness in that image.

I know how frustrating it can be.  There is also the fact that you may be trying too hard.  Trying too hard can sometimes put a damper on what could happen because you're too aware of what's going on and focusing too much.

Try just simply 'noticing' what's going on more then thinking about it.

The method you're using is the most common, though you need full vibrations in order to seperate.

There are other ways to project, like phasing, at many find that simpler to do, like me, though I haven't projected from it, it's pleasent to do the same.

You can look up info on it in the FAQ section.  I hope any of this advice helps, maybe trying it at a different time would work?

Like waking up at 4am and doing something then trying to AP again.

Anyway, I would recommend sleep deprivation but it's advisable on weekends only.

Any more advice, just ask!

I've been where you are, milk.

Don't try so hard!

The thing that I started doing which turned it all around for me, was a thing Andali just said, and that is just "notice" what is happening, without ever trying to DO anything.

I saw Frank write that recently, and when I tried it, it worked first time. It actually has worked every time. It leads me into a kind of trance. I'd just lay on my bed, relax, and just take note of each little sensation or whatever that came along. I noticed my thoughts would drift away a little, and suddenly they'd snap back to wide awake. After several times of this, eventually I found myself floating. Take your time, and try it.

Keep a lid on your emotions as you do this. Surprising sensations occur, but stay relaxed and calm.

If this doesn't work, then try some of the other things Andali suggested.

That's not as easy as it sounds, I've done that and it wasn't on purpose.  You'll get distracted by wondering when the feeling of lying on the bed will dissappear and when it does, you'll be thinking 'ooo  ' and get excited and stop the process, by accident of course, but your body will think, "oh, what ooo?  what's going on, let me see!"  And then you'll be frustrated because you knew you were getting somewhere but your body just had to butt in

Go with the intention to AP, but don't think about it the whole time you're trying.  Whatever happens, notice it and don't think anymore.  If you happen not to achieve one that time, don't get downhearted, that can wreck the process too.  It's a delicate balance.  Just shrug, think "aww well, tomorrow then".

I know you've been trying for a while, and that's good, believe it or not, eveything you do, whether you fail or achieve, all goes towards the end result.

If traditional OBE methods don't work for you, try the phasing method.  I had interesting results the first night I tried, not in the realm of AP but in my mind.  That's basically what phasing is, going inside your mind.  Sounds complicated but it's not, really.  You even do one of the focus states of phasing each time you try to AP, Focus 10, mind awake, body asleep!

I'm not trying to sell this method to you, simply indicating that there's more options out there for you to try, so don't give up!  If you give up, you'll encounter more problems then if you stuck with it.  Trust me!

P.S. Notice!  Just notice!

what is this phasing method?

It is going to be described in the new FAQ section in detail. Frank knows it best of everyone here and he is going to be the one doing most of the writing. He has been working on it for several years, so he is going to be more current on how to apply it under a variety of circumstances.
