"Shove" sound - exit sensation?

In my proper meditations I sink deeper and deeper, usually to a point where I lose consciousness briefly then pick up again.

Just yesterday I heard an interesting "shiissshhh" that just couldn't have come from bedsheets and they didn't move anyway.

I know of popping sounds, but certainly didn't expect a shove sound

I have read several posts where a "wooshing" sound was heard. I have not had any sounds as of yet. Its all a little strange how it can be quite different for each of us. :|

Yes this is the sound you are looking for. It sometimes waxes and wanes.
This signifies a state of mind which is just about to disconnect from the physical reality. If you stay aware and let it happen, you will find that it grows louder and louder and suddenly stops, this is when you are out.

Really, are you sure? I thought that this means that my etheric projected double is already projected the moment I hear this shove..

What I fear with OBE's is my uncertainty about how at the time of projection I could simply miss the exit and my projected double will leave in a sort of sleeping, auto-pilot mode without me and me being stuck inside my physical body. I don't even know if that makes sense but from reading Astral Dynamics i get the feeling that it's quite easily possible to miss the flight.

Yes, I'm sure. This is my personal experience.

You can miss the exit only if you are not conscious enough and doze off into nothingness. You still project, but not consciously, like you do every night in sleep.

You are partly right that the 'etheric' body is already out when you hear this noise, as this noise is not physical in any sense, but you haven't separated fully yet.
