When I look back upon myself now, I realize that I'd been fearing silly things. Nothing can hurt me.

Strangely, my control over the hypnagogic state has dramatically increased in what seems to be over night. I was laying there hearing faint but tangible things for an hour or so, I don't know. Anyways, where do I go from here?

I would say just curiously/passively observe the things that arise without really thinking about them, just let them come and go, and let yourself go deeper. The only thing you should really have going on (other than your quiet observing) is the intention to retain awareness. This is where I find I might lose awareness, come back, slip again, and then if all goes well, it's like a switch gets flipped and boom. It's a tricky balancing act.
