I'm semi-new to the whole concept

So last night I tried to meditate/project for the first time in about 10 years.  When I was younger I had heard about AP and tried for a while to no avail.  Last night was very different.  As I layed there breathing calmly and counting (counting seems to keep me focused, does anybody use this technique or should I change it?) when I got to around the number 70-ish, my body started tingling and my counting became very sporadic, before I got to 80 my body was vibrating so hard I almost felt like I was convulsing.  I could feel my muscles being tense and I tried to calm them.  I felt physically frozen but floaty at the same time.  I know I am very inexperienced but to have this happen was: scary, exciting, weird, and I can't wait to try again and to begin meditating more throughout the day.

This AM when I woke up to put the kid on the bus I nearly feel over several times. I had a lot of trouble standing up straight without falling over.  This never normally happens to me.  Is this a common side-effect?

It sounds like you were very close to achieving an OBE. I've never experienced the falling over side effect though. I don't have alot of experience yet so I can't say if its normal or not.

So I'm still wondering if I should have felt such strong colvulsive feelings when vibrating and if it is common to have bad balance the next day...any help is appreciated.

I asked my husband about this since his son had a seizure disorder and eventually died from it. He said that after his son would have a seizure that he would be off balance, tired and would need my husband to help steady him if he got up to walk around. So you might want to have yourself checked.

Well, it is something to watch out for but I have never had any seizures before and no known problems that would cause one.  I had about 7 hours between the vibrating and waking up and being off balance.  weird...
