I hear it too. One time it sounded like a guitar string getting plucked, and another time just an immense 'noise' like I had my head in a jet engine.

The strobo light comes from your third eye chakra.

AFAIK, the noise is the effect of astral 'input' that your brain doesn't know how to handle, so it decides to startle you with noise, just to be on the safe side.

Nice but it still doesn't explain the thing that others can hear it too [?]

Got any suggestions on how to bypass it?
Or maybe it will reduce as I get used to it

You meant at the same time as you hear it? O.o

...Guess that's an objective observation of something from the astral plane. =)

The only way I know of overcoming the trouble it gives you is waiting for your mind to lean how to interpret it properly. I have however not researched the matter, so there are probably other ways to do it.

I think he might mean that other people (us) hear similar things.

It's a hypnagogic hallucination that you get when going from beta to alpha brainwaves I think, or something like that... which is usually while falling asleep so you wouldn't remember them that much, but since you're trying to keep your mind awake you notice those kinds of things frequently.

It's normal and happens to everyone... and yes basically it kind of is your brain tuning into the "astral" or to a dream, creations of your mind... little short flashes of detailed images are also common.

I wish I could stay in that state so I could get into a trance.

Anyone got a suggestion what it is when I almost always when I try to OBE get a loud snapping noise in my room. Kind of sounds a bit like a table that would croak.

Usually when in a deeper state I get wild strobo flashes from these sounds and sometimes even get a bit startled by them.

The oddest thing is that they very rearly appear if I am NOT trying to OBE And I'm not the only one that hears them, if there is someone there, he/she can hear them too... For example my  girlfriend got herself very startled when she tried to sleep beside me when I tried to project

Suggestions?
