So I am trying to get used to working a nightshift job which lately has meant I have come home at around 6am and been so tired I have fallen asleep before my head even hit the pillow. While it may usually result in plainly going to sleep is there a good method to use here to your advantage? seeing as you can sleep so quickly from bieng so tired could you somehow try to maintain slight consciouness before nodding off? is there a best way to do this?

Use your normal method. It should work faster. Some people have claimed that this fast bebefit is only temporary though. The key is to remember your experience and not let it slip into a "regular dream" due to your fatigue.

Usually when I am that tired, I don't even remember my dreams. It will be painful to try to maintain some awareness before passing out. But that doesn't mean it won't work for you. My suggestion for you to try is to get into a sleeping position when ready to go to bed, and as you let yourself fall asleep mentally keep swaying your inner body from left to right. You can imagine that your bed is a swing. Keep this motion going as long as you can. I use this method on the weekends when I can take afternoon naps. It usually triggers vibrations pretty quickly.
