One of those memorable OBEs...

Has anyone ever had this happen??

This happened awhile back... about 1999.  I had been duty the night before on the ship, and so when I got home, I went for a nap in the afternoon.  I woke up in sleep paralysis, and was completely relaxed about it, especially since it was fairly light in my room.  I was laying on my right side kind of int he fetal position.  I closed my eyes with intent on trying to OBE, and what happened next was probably the highest point in all my experiences for validation.  When I closed my eyes, i actually passed through my eye lids!  (anyone remember th emovie ghost when he went through her? It was exactly like that!)  There was NO transition between being in and out... I just literally passed through my eyelids and into an upright position bnext to my bed.

It has been the only time that there was no actual transition where I lost any awareness between waking and OBE.  There was no vibrations, no buzzing sounds, no pulling feelings etc... just close my eyes and literally float out, through them almost instantly... seeing everything as I passed through them, like i could see the layers as I passed through... it was truly one of the most memorable experiences I had.

I had an OBE once which was very similar to what you described, except for vibes.

I woke up to go to the bathroom, and when I laid back down, as soon as my head hit the pillow I felt strong vibes. So I sat up to shake them off. As soon as they cooled down, I laid back down, and they immediately started back and I knew I wouldn't be able to shake them, so I separated. It was the easiest, most effortless projection I ever had, with only a few seconds between laying my head down and separation.

I was also just consciousness, no body. I remember going through a wall and seeing the texture of the drywall and wood studs in the wall. I also could feel my physical body in bed the whole time.

And it was never duplicated again. What was also strange, it was the only OBE I've had where I hadn't been trying earlier or my mind was on it.

Do you mean it was the only spontaneous OBE you had??

I am the opposite... (and when i was a child, before I knew what an OBE was I thought I was cursed) but the majority of my OBEs were spontaneous, without any forethought and without trying.  (appreciated now but feared when I was a kid)  I did learn how to induce them but I am not always successful at it.

Yeah, I've never had a spontaneous OBE before learning about them, and I'd say about 90% of my experiences since learning have been related to meditation. This one was very unique in just about every aspect of it for me. I'm an example that it's possible for someone who has never had an OBE to experience it.

I have never doubted that anyone can do it :)  It's great that you can attest to it though because your experiences are great motivation for people trying to learn, moreso than mine, since mine were mostly spontaneous.

My first OBE's were involuntary low-level projections, which occurred when I was younger and suffered chronic insomnia. After, say, two nights in a row of no sleep, I would be so tired that my body often fell into 'sleep mode' out of exhaustion, while my mind remained awake and alert due to the insomnia. At times I would 'slip out' involuntarily but would always remain in the physical vicinity during these episodes. These were always RTZ-type projections.

All I wanted at the time was a night's sleep, since the sleep deprivation was certainly no fun - I don't advocate this as a technique! Those involuntary projections managed to spark my lifelong interest, though.

By the way - I am a new member; greetings everyone!
