Why is sleep paralysis considered the holy grail for AP?

Oh I thought everyone got it automatically every night?

This is the way I discovered AP. At first I thought my sleep paralysis was a sleep disorder of some kind (still considered to be by some people). The body goes into a state of paralysis when you sleep to stop you from acting out your dreams. One day when I was still a child I suddenly woke up, but could not move, not even my eyes, it was a pretty scary problem I was having on and off for about 20+ years after that time. Only when one day I all of a sudden started experiencing vibrations did I decide to continue researching into it, and I found that my problem was infact a blessing!
Thanks to Astral Pulse!

it's not, it's a stupid notion, forget it.  just go to sleep but don't let your mind fall asleep.  easy as pie.
be awesome.

That's the strange thing for you then.
In normal REM Atonia... there are only two muscles in your body that DO NOT get paralyzed.  One is your heart, DUH.  LoL  The other are your eyes.

Quite right hence Rapid Eye Movement!

I can't say I've checked since, maybe I was toooo terrified back then!

The first thought I have now when I get SP is 'GET UP AND OUT!'

How is this easy?

I also spent years thinking my sleep paralysis was some kind of sleep disorder or possible demon attacks lol sounds retarded now. I still think sleep paralysis is the easiest way to project. Oh and also I read somewhere that almost every single person will experience waking sleep paralysis at some stage in there life. I think it is worth seeing if you can induce it.

personalreality

here's the problem.

the goal isn't "sleep paralysis" or the so-called "mind awake/body asleep".

the goal is disassociation.  you want to "disassociate" your conscious awareness from your body.  unplug is an apt description.  unplug from external sensory information.  you want to focus instead on internal sensory information, internal here means anything you believe to be "the astral" (if that's a literal "other world" or just your imagination, doesn't matter).

when you make sleep paralysis your goal, you are still focusing on your body.  even when in sleep paralysis, you are usually still aware of your body.  so it's not about "not feeling your body", it's deeper than that.  it's about not knowing (or caring for all intents and purposes) that your body is there.

but by all means, for those of you who know how to make use of sleep paralysis, go for it.  but it's not something you can "achieve".  rem atonia (actual sleep paralysis) and the feeling of not feeling your body that is induced as you go to sleep are not the same thing.
be awesome.

For myself sleep paralysis is a difficult state for me to get in. But when I can manage to obtain that state all I have to do is shake my way out of my body and I am in full OBE. Usually I just daydream and stay focused on OBEing. At a certain point I can literally feel my body change. I let it do its thing and then roll my way out. I used to be terrified of sleep paralysis. I love the feeling now. Because I now know it's natural and I will be out of body before I know it. Just got to hold those feelings and not get to excited!

I'll put in my two cents. :)

I'm plagued with Sleep Paralysis. Happens more than I'm comfortable with at the moment. I've only recently realized you can AP from the SP, so I've been giving it my best shot. I haven't had anything happen yet, but only because I still can't get over my fear.

Anyhow, I know when SP is going to happen, usually. I'll be semi-sleepy, thinking of class or shopping, when the sudden tingles will instantly bring me to focus on my body. I cannot move, but I usually won't try unless the fear creeps in (which takes a second). I turn inward immediately and listen to the odd 'buzzing' in my body (not necessarily a real noise in my ears, though, more like it's perceived from the tingles), as well as feel the atomic level shakes. It's as if my entire body is trying to shake itself to pieces. At this point, I usually know what I'm going to see IF I open my eyes. I'll start thinking 'that damned grudge girl is back, don't open your eyes, don't open your eyes!' (obviously this is what I'm trying to stop, lol), then I fight against the SP until either the shivers stop or I pass out.

I've had something try to pull me out of my body twice and, after spending some time on here reading, I'm guessing it was supposed to be a helpful gesture. Neither of those times did I see anything out of the ordinary, just this amazing force around my abdomen/torso that pulled tremendously. I only fought out of fear that I wouldn't survive the 'split'. The second time something had been grabbing at my legs, almost succeeded in pulling me out of myself, but I managed to wiggle my arm and break the SP, thus waking up fully...scaring the crap out of my sleeping husband too. :D

Anyhow, I hope that is helpful. :)
-Keep going. Nothing will be worse than what you already experienced. If today was the worst day of your life, then you should have no fear of tomorrow.-

It used to scare the wits out of me too! But since being on this site, like yourself, I learned about AP. Now I have no fear at all when in SP. The only person creating the Grudge girl is you!  :-)
