The article isn't very long and doesn't go into detail on the math, but apparently the quantum realm is getting less mysterious.

Since spiritualists claim that thought=reality, and thought works by affecting quantum energy fields, I wonder if this theory is offensive. Do your thoughts grow through a darwinian process?

A sort of, "take what resonates and discard the rest?"

If a dog is missing and lots of people think he is dead, they'll act as if he were dead, regardless of if he is. They dig him a grave and bury an empty box. They get calls from friends about his death. When a bark is heard outside, it must be some other dog. They never see the dog again.

They have been cut off from all information relating to the dog. In their minds, the dog doesnt exist.

A new person walks by the dog, pets him, and goes to the previous owners of the dog, who tell him that dog is dead. He says ok, I just pet the neighbor's dog.

The networks of people talking might do the same (evolve the idea that the dog doesnt exist) as the networks of connected particles (evolve the lack of vision to a specific particle). If no near particles connect to some particle, that particle appears to not exist. Only specific positions in the quantum wave function are "evolved"/collapsed so we can mostly agree where they are. Other positions could be collapsed, but they are inconsistent with the collapsed positions of other particles so we dont see them.
