I'm wondering what you guys do when you meditate. Let's get a neat organized format for this.

BUDDHAHOOD - THE END OF SUFFERING

knucklebrain1970

I'll start

Duration:  Usually a 1/2 hour
Night/Day/Both: Lunchtime and after dinner
Music Yes/No (Music a detriment or helpful): Usually music with guided cd
Where you meditate: In car, frozen at lunch. On bowl in mens room. In front of couch at night
How long you've been meditation: about 2 months
Positive results: Sort of weird unexplained things are happening. Vibrational state for OBE more easily obtained. Have more energy after I meditate.

Any additional thoughts are appreciated as well. I'm really wondering about the music thing. It seems to me that it would get in the way of progression. I can see it as a way to shut out the mind talk, but eventually I believe that music would be a detriment to real progress as far as multi dimensional consciousness when meditating or anything else abnormal happening. What do you think?

BUDDHAHOOD - THE END OF SUFFERING

daidaluz

Good idea.

Duration : 15 min to 1 hour.
Night/Day/Both: Lunch time and by evening (if possible)
Music:  no
Where you meditate: wherever I can; in my bed sitting in lotus position.
How long you've been meditation:  15 years (sporadic)
Positive results: Vibrational states, energy ecstasy, expanded awareness, high conscious states.

What do I do when meditating: Siting in lotus position, clean mind, concentrate in whatever I desire (a color, an emotion, an idea,  a higher being, etc.) , become that which I concentrate in.

I do not hear music when meditating simply because I get a better focus when I'm in silence. This way I can hear the sound of my own conscious state.

mhat

Duration: 20mins - 2 hrs
Night/Day/Both: Both
Music Yes/No (Music a detriment or helpful): couple times
Where you meditate: In my bed laying down
How long you've been meditation: 6 mo.
Positive results:Extreme relaxation/best sleeps ever! , vibrations, progressively better dreams and dream memory, lucid dreams, astral sight, foggy astral projections, and best of all a beautiful new look on reality.

About the music,
Music is beautiful...I am a musician and I love music. Music helps calm our active minds (you know the dialog that constantly runs inside your head...which we try to quiet when meditating) but it can also be distracting and cause loss of focus...so it is double edge i guess
Does it all simply end in a blanket of darkness, what of my soul?

alexd

Duration: 10-20 minutes
Night/Day/Both: Night
Music Yes/No (Music a detriment or helpful): No. I haven't tried it with music.
Where you meditate: Bedroom, lotus position.
How long you've been meditation: On and off about 1 year.
Positive results: I feel great and completely refreshed afterwards.

What do I do when meditating: I close my eyes and focus on the blackness. With proper concentration after a few minutes the blackness spreads and I feel like I am within it and it is everywhere in a boundless state at the same time. I try to hold it for as long as possible.

I want to be in the energy, not with the enemy
A place for my head

paint1

Duration:  1 hour if times short 45 minutes.
When:  Sunrise & sunset.
Music:  Not usually but have successfully used fast monotonous drumming.
Where: On a cliff overlooking water.
Results: I've had a few visions, seen a few interesting things of a personal nature. I find it very addictive.
What do I do: focus on the third eye, try stopping the internal chatter.

Ybom

Duration: random, ends in sleep or insomnia
Night/Day/Both: pick a time
Music Yes/No (Music a detriment or helpful): neither
Where you meditate: Generally anywhere lying down
How long you've been meditation: unknown
Positive results: Increased mental activity, focus on details, and general wisdom about my bad actions after they occur. Deep sense of reflection.

Additional Thoughts:
I personally don't feel like I'm gaining anything new from meditation anymore, but I am keeping myself sane by doing it. Music doesn't help or hurt me, and hemi type cds don't generally affect me. For mental constructs I seem to be much more neutral to attacks and a little less perceptive as well, but I'm working on it. Meditation always leaves me bored after a while, and I generally fall asleep between a minute and 4 hours after initiation. About 25% of the time I don't fall asleep at all until I end the state.
I come prepared...with COOKIES! No, you can't have one!

beavis

Duration: usually less than a minute, sometimes few minutes or more. often many in the same hour
Night/Day/Both: both
Music Yes/No (Music a detriment or helpful): sometimes
Where you meditate: anywhere, in line at a store for example
How long you've been meditation: 2 years
Positive results: more psi, can see the surrounding energy, telekinesis, the usual

Seconds is enough. I skip to the end without wasting time to get ready. Longer times rarely get me better results. I go directly for the surrounding energy. I dont try to think about nothing and randomly find it.

pwc

Duration: 10-30 min.
Night/Day/Both: Both
Music Yes/No (Music a detriment or helpful): No. Neither helpful or deterring.
Where you meditate: In my chair ... sometimes in using the asana
How long you've been meditation:  a few years now
Positive results: Defiantly! Deeper connection, much more mental clarity, more peaceful, insightful, vigorised, etc.

Regarding sound however, I've been to a gong meditation with a group once - the gong sound had some interesting effects.
