The higher self: good, evil or both?

This is late. But I'm gonna post anyway..

But the question is, who am I? Am I the self that is typing right here, or am I really more than this?

I was thinking of the higher self as the real self, or actual self. However I realise that playing with terminology just add confusion.

The way I see it, we were just an interface, or probe on the plane we are living now which is the physical plane, or maybe astral too. And the Higher self/real self/actual self/self as the operator. Or using a gaming anology we're just gamers, totally immerse in the game of life. We are pretty sure that we are the character in the physical plane, forgetting that we're just playing game until some outside or inside event shock us out of our false sense of reality. Most of us are too absorbed in our own drama and those that realise are seen as different. Which is not helped by the fact that they also feel a little different. Out of loop or out of majority.

I'm rambling...
Hope this make sense and coherent  to you (and me).

Doesn't make sense for me. Unconscious (unaware) is part of conscious (aware). It is just like saying you are aware of the unware.
Conscious is conscious; unconscious is unconscious. Information can be brought from unconscious mind to the conscious mind.

WOW!

Wow, wow, wow! This is a huge posting! This is bigger beyond what I imagined. I managed to read through all of it, and enjoyed every bit of it. Thanks a lot for your comments about the higher self! Now what you all have been waiting for... my take on the higher self.

The higher self is only your true nature. It cannot be corrupted, for it is absorbed in itself, for it is with itself. We sometimes do what we don't want to do because other influences find unique passages into our body and controls it in some way. When we do activities we know we could of prevented and didn't want to do those, that is because our bodies were controlled by an alien force. If you maintain a true, unbroken connection with your higher self and your body, you will always choose what you want to choose.
In other words, its not that you are breaking away from your code in nature when, for example, choose to do coccaine, because that coccaine made the body react in a way which the higher self may not have discovered how to control that impulse. So for habits you don't want to have and which you know you could go about without, then until your higher self (or you) finds a way to gain control of your body in that area, your body will still act on those impulses, even if it is simply watching television!

Chat with you guys later[:D]

I completely disagree. What we do is always of our own choosing based on our own free will. Whether or not we acknowledge it we are alway responsible for each and every action we take and each and every action we don't.
We may do horrible things, despicable things, acts of great honour and compassion. We may do good and evil. But it's alway our personal responsibility to us ourselves and to our higher self and to those who inhabit the physical plane around us. There is NO cop out saying the devil made me do it, or it was the little green guys from mars.
We do what our Will, that is the essential life plan we have chosen either allows or directs us to do or whatever stra ge things we think it tells us to do. But it's always us, up close and personal.

Can you see I feel strongly about this? [8D]

I could see how strongly motivated, for good or bad, individuals or grops would to some degreee affect the minds and decisisions of the people of autopilot. I guess the strongest and most directed local mind-field (no pun intended I think, and coined a phrase there) would sway the general consensus and cause people to act as if something was controlling them. Subconsciously but nevertheless.

Clone? Yeah, be wary of what you ask. It'd be horrbile, I say, horrible. Star Wars II would be kindergarten stuff. I'll stop by the local equiv. of Kinko's  first thing Monday morning [:D][:P]

Just about finished reading Tom Chalko's book Freedom of Choice. He covers these topics (such as the Higher Self) quite well. I'd recommend the book to anyone who hasn't yet read it. Adrian posted a sticky at this forum and that's what led me to the author's website and his book.

Can the higher self be corrupted and deformed, just as our conscious/unconscious thinking can be? I hope that is not the case, but the trueth is better than fairy tales.

Also, what exactly is the higher self? Is this the perfection of every person?
