This is like attacking a sphere with a straight line,  there is only so much each author can do for you.

Carlos Castaneda books are well-known for this..

The Hindu "Bhagavad Gita" is well worth the read.  It was one of those texts that changed my life when I read it.

Haha....

The Zhuangzi is incredible ( early Daoist text that reads like existentialist literature, many episodic stories)
"The Gardener is but a dream of the Garden."

Jed McKenna. There's a trilogy, starting with "Spiritual Enlightenment the Damndest Thing", followed by "Spiritually Incorrect Enlightenment" and then "Spiritual Warfare". After that, there's a collection of material from the three books that got edited out for various reasons, which I only recommend if you read all three books and like them.

Jed McKenna is a fictional character (as are we all, which is kind of the point), and the situations are fictional, but the books can be a real challenge to one's concepts of "reality".
