I'm trying to find a link or book that has Krishna's life while on earth. Is it in one of the Vedas? Iv read the Gita and it doesn't really go into his life as a child etc
Firmly understand that there is no joy or sorrow in this world. If you believe worldly objects are a source of happiness, in their absence you will feel sorrow. Accept the fact that there is no true happiness in the world.

"The principal scriptures discussing Krishna's story are the Mahabharata, the Harivamsa, the Bhagavata Purana and the Vishnu Purana"

When I went to college (years ago- many many) the restricted section of the library had beautiful illuminated copies of many Hindu sacred books.  I remember looking at amazing plates of Krisha playing as a child- what beautiful art.  Thanks for bringing that memory back to me.
