Mind Awake Body Asleep

So far for me it's only happened when I somehow manage to wake up just enough to fall immediately into the theta state of sleep, without loosing my conscious awareness.  This usually happens when I disrupt my sleep cycle.

What is your method for entering the mind awake / body asleep without falling asleep?  Just focus on your breathing, for example, and just wait for something to happen?

I've watched myself fall asleep and by some miracle my mother happened to wake me up right as I was loosing consciousness, and I discovered what was happening.  It's like all of a sudden things just go blank where I'm not aware and I feel so tired.  I don't know if it was a stray thought, but my mind was in a blank state and it still felt as if it were just going fuzzy and eventually loosing all coherence of thought and awareness.  The only thing I can think of to counteract this problem is to vigourously focus the mind on one process such as breathing (as Robert Monroe explained in Astral Dynamics).. but whenever I try that I just stay awake unnecessarily.  Not "passive' enough perhaps?

Hey jc84corvette,

Perhaps you just are able to relax very easily. For some it comes naturally, for others (like me) it is difficult to stay relaxed and focused.

As far as helping you to OBE energy raising is more effective in trance. All you need is enough energy and a way to trigger the projection and you're there. Relaxation I've heard is the trickiest part. You should read Robert Bruce's book Astral Dynamics. If not, at least his online treatise on astral projection. You can find it under the training portion of www.astralpulse.com . That should answer a lot of your questions.

Also, I'm curious if you'd describe some of the sensations you feel during these trances if you don't mind me asking.

Keep up the good work!

I use Brain Wave Generator. I use the meditation presets and relaxation. I only use that on weekends when I feel like it.
The method that I use mainly is just relaxation and thinking of something that you want.

Firstly, thank you for the information and the encouragement.
Now to your question, during all my trance states I feel obviously 100% relaxed. Its like my whole body is pure and nothing negative is in it. Mentaly I feel really relaxed and I have no care in the world. I also say to my self "man this is better than the 'traditional' sleep, if you get what I mean.

...
Most of the time when I do these trances, I am in my computer chair. And all of those times my head falls forward and then my upper body falls on my desk. When my body falls slowly to the desk I am scared sh*tless. Heh[;)]
But when you think about the trance the next day, you want it to come back more and more. Even the falling on the desk part.

Hope this helps.

That is extremely fast, I've been practicing meditation/trances for about 9 years now and that's about the speed it takes me. I think someone said that Robert Bruce could enter a trance in 5 minutes and he's been at it for over 25 years.

Seems like you have good mental control. For me entering a trance has always been to just clear my mind and lay still. Sooner you can do that the sooner the trance comes.

Woopaching

hey jc84corvette,

Thanks for describing that. Yeah, falling forward part would be a little freaky. Is that because of paralysis or just really relaxed.

Well sound cool! Have fun with it... I'm assuming you ap or obe regularly?

jc84corvette

Hey Woopaching, I do not know why your body falls. Any one know?
It may sound suprising to you Woopaching but I never had a OBE or AP.

When you have a trance like I have, you see your self in a new way, a way that gives you some spiritual peace.

Hello JC84, interesting post.  Total relaxation is of course the critical platform for projection in my opinion, and you seem to be able to manage that quite easily.  Triggering a successful exit is your next logical goal.  I have been engrossed in Self-Hypnosis for quite some time and from constant practice my body is conditioned to go into trance quite quickly also.  While in this state of trance you can give yourself post-hypnotic suggestions that will trigger OBE's if you phrase the suggestions carefully and with sincerity and the total belief that they will work.  There is a lot of helpful info on the internet that you can access in regard to self-hypnosis.  Self-Hypnosis is a very individualized discipline and your intuition should guide you to the correct approach using this method.  Good luck.

Centa Five, I appreciate your information but I have one question. Did you leave out energy rasing or opening your chakra's?

Because I read RB's Treatese and RB said to open your chakra's when your in a trance. After that you should get viberations, witch means you are geting the energy. After that you do the exit tech. witch could be rope I guess.

I know I made some errors with the whole tech that RB said so please correct me.

I use to get vibes a wile ago back in August and July when I joined this forum. The vibes only lasted for 5-15 seconds.

Hey there I have some more things to add to my post.
Why dosn't my body get really numb and paralyzed? How do I make it happen?

Centa Five

Good questions JC.  I kind of skipped thru a lot of the NEW stuff in RB's Astral Dynamics. I had been working with the energy centers (Chakras) before I read NEW and it kind of threw me when I noticed that he listed 8 Chakras instead of the 7 Chakras that I had learned to work with. I learned early on that energy is needed in order for the energy body to generate the astral double. I understand that the vibrations are indicative of this process.  RB mentions in the NEW section of  Astral Dynamics  that a stronger flow of energy is produced in the trance state than in the waking state.  I don't do any energy raising work during my OBE attempts; I do this during my daily meditation after I go into trance.  I use my post-hypnotic suggestions for the relaxation phase and for encouraging the onset of the vibrations and after that I usually try the roll-out method if just floating up doesn't do the job. I sometimes find that imagery works better than words in attempting exit strategy. I have only had limited success with projecting, but I keep experimenting and get lucky occasionally.  This probably isn't of much help to you JC but hopefully I've answered your question. As far as paralysis is concerned it is my belief that this seems to occur right at the point of sleep onset.  Take care.  Centa

JC, i think from my experience what you experience is trance, not body asleep mind awake(Monroe's focus 10?). When the body is asleep you do feel numb and paralyzed in the body, you go through the heart thumping and pre exit symptoms.
In the world in general and in this nation
May not even the names disease, famine, war, and suffering be heard.
May virtuous qualities, merit, and prosperity greatly increase
And may continuous good fortune and subline well-being perfectly arise.

Mustardseed

Same experience as the Corvette. Trance in just 10-15min but often no altered state, no OBE but I think a lot better I feel.
Words.....there was a time when I believed in words!

Hmm I read the Treatiese on AP by RB and a trance is 100% mind awake body asleep.

holy reality

exiting = easy

you just... do it.. you know, if you're paralyzed, just lift that arm up out of there, try to roll out, whatever.. you should be able to at least get a hand out without doing any energy work at all.. if you have vibrations you can just focus on them, stay quiet, and let them take you wherever it is they want to take you (this is really WEIRD and/or cool sometimes, like I was dragged out of my body out the window and to a locale I visualized before the vibrations started, but it took like 10 minutes to get there...)

but...

trance = impossible

:(

You sound just like me....
http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9482

I get that fuzzy feeling where I can't think at all and I lose control of my thoughts, and the images come but I never see them, or at least, don't remember them as soon as I snap out of them, and I CANNOT control them or even look at them at all while maintaining consciousness, or they go bye bye... (unless it's in the early morning sometimes)

... also known as a trance.

Is it just me or geting 100% mind awake and 100% body asleep very easy?

Sense August of 2003, this has been easy for me. I can be doing my homework on my bed one night then put the stuff away and get relaxed fast and get into a trance. This whole "process" takes 5-10 minuets.

I also use BWGEN. I can get into a trance when sitting right here, in my computer chair.

My trance states can last from 2 minuets to 4 hours.

So what about you guys? Is this second nature for you like me? How will this help me for OBE/AP?
