Hey, Congrats on your first lucid dream. [:)]
Ive had the same thing happen to me in the past, sometimes your just not as lucid as other times. I find that commenting every now and then while in a LD helps you to remember when you wake. For instance if im having an LD and the clarity is amazing (as it normally is) ill comment, describe to myself how it is and how amazed i am by the whole thing. If your memories not as good thinking back to the dream then you can normally remember what you said while you were in it.
Ive also found the more lucid dreams ive had the clearer they seem to be when i wake.

My experience is the same as RooJ's.

A hypnogogic phase is probably what your describing, bmw.I hope I spelled it right. This is sort of an in between zone talked about in dreams. This is where I was when I was trying to collect my night of dream recall in a file, to bring back to my conscious state. I didn't make it because I was distracted by a spirit's face, who I think might be my spirit guide.

The way I understand it, lucid dreaming is simply being aware you are dreaming at the time. It sounds like you were lucid.

It sounds like you were having a lucid dream because as soon as you realise that you are dreaming, your dream becomes lucid. But it is weird to me that you had fallen asleep after having a lucid dream(meaning you have lost your waking consciousness) and then just normally remembered it after waking up like any ordinary dream. I have lucid dreams for 4 years now, and every single time I had to wake up if I wanted to stop sleeping. I find it impossible to fall into a normal dream after achieving lucidity. I don't know, perhaps it is different with other people...
I'm planning on living forever...
So far so good!

It's actually very common to have have a regular dream after loosing lucidity (and many false awakenings). Happens to me after an LD if I'm not totally awake with a huge grin on my face.

Last night I think I had my first LD.  Horray!  However, I also think that I might have dreamed this.  I can recall the dream and realizing that I was dreaming.  My memory of this seems no different than any non-lucid dream.  Can you help me figure this out?  Thanks.
