1. I have been practicing NEW for a while now and after every session i feel like I have no blood in my body... I feel really cold.. but it doesn feel bad.  Does anyone have an explaination for this?

2. I have also had difficulty with the sponging technique.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

3. I know that in some energy practices (tai chi, yoga, etc) they prefer a certain time of day.  I've done NEW at almost every period of the day and have felt little difference in the amount/quality of energy work.  Does anyone else have preferences?

Thanx for your time

1.  I usually just feel comfortably cool afterward.  I think this might have to do with how you feel the energy moving.  Do you experience a cooling sensation or a warming sensation when you feel energy activity?

2.  I, honestly, didn't have too much luck with the sponging action.  You're supposed to imagine that you're bringing  a sponge soaked with hot/cold (depending on question one) complete with the wet feeling afterward.  I replaced this action with a sucking action.  Like my legs/arms are a straw and I'm sucking the energy through them.  Someone suggested this to me here and it's worked great so try giving it a shot.

3.  I practice all during the day, whenever I have a bit of free time.  I get the best responses at sunrise and sunset, with sunset being the stronger of the two.  I only notice the increase when it's not cloudy as well.

Hope this helps you a bit.

I get sensations like that sometimes when I am in a place which simply doesn't have much much prana to suck in, or if the receptors on my feet or hands are not activated enough. It feels like I've just sucked all the meridians in my legs or arms dry of energy and pulled it into my trunk.  It tickles or feels cold until the receptors have caught up with gathering energy from the atmosphere again.

I definitely get better results at certain times and places. Experiment with different settings and times and see if you get different results.

1. It's normal, the extremities also get cold for me, nothing to worry about.

2. I never manage to really understand the sponging action, in fact i don't really do the "official" NEW actions, i just suck the energy up and it works very well like this. If you're not relaxed when doing something like this, don't do it, make your own technic instead, one which feels more natural to you and makes you spend less mental energy.

3. I don't feel a very important difference between places and times. Just do it when you can, it's better than not doing it at all ;)

Thanx for all your suggestions..

The energy i take in and move around is warm but after the session i feel physically cold.  I have done NEW everywhere from forest settings to office settings and I get the same feeling afterwards.  However, I never used to get this sensation with the 'white light' type exercises.  And with Reiki I feel warm and cozy afterwards (aka i fall dead asleep from the relaxation:P).

thanx again

That's interesting, my energy feels cool when I'm moving it about and afterward I feel like I've been sitting in an oven.  I would suggest maybe putting a blanket around your feet and see if that helps, as long as you wrap it loosely it won't hinder energy absorption.  Maybe try imagining that you feel warm and actually try to make yourself feel warm when you are done with your exercises but before you really break your concentration.  Sorry that I can't be of more help.

This is very interesting to me. Are you guys saying that you don't notice greater or lesser densities of prana in different areas or according to weather, etc.???

I'm not saying that if I'm in a low density situation that I just give up and don't try. I can certainly still fill myself up even in sparse conditions (you just have to work a lot harder). But I feel that I can sense a range of prana density of about 1x to 8x. It's cool when you hit those really rich areas.

It is quite interesting. I would suggest concentrate more. Try to feel that sensation from the source. If you getting energy from the sun, try to feel warm inside and you will most likley feel that way.

I actually believe that you can access energy from anywhere... but that might just be me... i firmly believe that everything is interconnected so I believe that even if in an office with no windows of appliances you can still get the same amount of energy as compared to being in direct sunlight in a beautiful setting

what do you think about this concept?

Hmmm--I agree with you to a certain extent. Even when I'm in a low energy density situation, I can focus my attention and will upon a large area, say 10-100 feet around me and attract and aggregate what (smaller amount of) vitality globules there are available into an area close to me and then pull them into my lungs, hands and feet. Is that what you're talking about?

The specific energy that I'm talking about is what is called prana--the tiny energy globules which spring into being in our atmosphere as a result of the tremendous energy poured out from the sun. It's something that I've observed that in the shortened days of winter and on overcast days there is definitely less of this phenomenon present. Peoples health is lower, animals hybernate, plants go dormant--these all could be, in part, due to the lack of this energy during winter.

Shift_tao, are you saying that you believe this energy is not subject to the idea of locality? If so, I guess you could make it so with the right perspective. I can change my perspective to that of "no time or space" with a lot of quiet meditation and effort. But when I'm bustling through my normal type of day I am pretty grounded in an ordinary physical type of consciousness. And when my perspective is such, I seem to be far more a subject to the ordinary laws of time and space and locality.

Is that what you're referring to?

i have just realized the truth that there is no time and space, only my perception.. so it is common knowldge that i dont need to think about and wrap around my mind... does that help?

i have many theories about existance and this is just one:P i have many that contradict eachother

like i have the belief that everything is connected because we are all just different expressions of the same 'stuff'.. and also that everything i percieve to be in existance is interconnected because of the exchange of energy...

so that said... these are my current truths so all three are how i see reality... and therefore i dun need meditation to change perspective.

does that answer ur question?

QuoteThis is very interesting to me. Are you guys saying that you don't notice greater or lesser densities of prana in different areas or according to weather, etc.???

Well, the levels change in every situation a touch, weather just being one thing that affects it.  Unlike you I draw more energy from the wind/rain than I do form the sun.  So during a rainstorm or just windy day I can pull in large amounts of energy.  However, certain times I draw on energy form the sun, mainly at sunset.

Also, another big source for me is electromagnetic radiation (emi fields).  Most people say that this hinders them.  I grew up under high-tension lines as a kid so maybe my body learned to use the energy.  This makes it so I can be in an office or anywhere with computers and other electronic machinery and be able to feed off of it.

I believe there are vast amounts of energy available everywhere in every condition, just different types.  If you can teach your body how to use/extract these you will never be without.  That's just my opinion though.

That's very Hindu of you.  Well, it basically describes the later beliefs in Brahma.  They believe that everything we see, do, and are, are simply ripples in Brahma's energy flow.

thats a really beautiful way of putting it.  I am of no religion but i do study religions to see what aspects of them fit in my life and sometimes i adopt ideas  :D
