During my first OBE I was at a friends house and I remember trying to wake him up, I yelled his name and at first it came out only it sounded a little wierd.  The second time I tried my voice was all gurgly sounding and then I decided to stop.  Can you talk to others on the astral plane, does it take practice or what???
Virtues are no less contagious than vices.

I would recommed trying to be stay focused, though I'm not an expert in this case..
We are not truly lost, until we lose ourselves.

i have red a book and he talked about a castle. This castle is a meeting place for people have an obe. A lot of them were not aware of them being there. there were only a few that knew they were haveing an obe. He would talk to them all the time.

I don't know forsure, so I'll just throw something out to ponder. Telepathy seems to be a more intuitive approach to communicating on the astral. I find it would take a lot of wasted energy to use your imagination to make up vocal cords, a mouth and vibrations to emanate a voice. You want to maintain as much energy as you can when your on that plane, so if you can approach it in a more efficent way, then it may work for you. Perhaps the reason for your distorted voice is because it was your first time. It's like baby steps. You have to learn to use you voice on another level. Yet, your trying to learn with a mouth and on that plane you don't need a mouth...it's just a waste of time. Maybe...maybe not...just tossin it out to ponder.

You communicate with thoughts when in the astral.  People who's awareness is still within their physical body(sleeping or awake)  usually cannot hear you when you are Astral.

Trying to communicate with sound will waste energy.

Also, you may find yourself unable to speak when you are "close" to your sleeping body (or more precisely to ASP, the state in which you are still vaguely aware of your paralyzed body, hear yourself breathing etc).

I used to have difficulties with speaking in shared dreams too. I think this may due to an injured feedback mechanism that keeps dreamers synchronized.

I often get the feeling, upon waking after an astral experience / lucid dream, that perhaps I wasn't having a conversation. The more I contemplate the conversation / speech, the more I become unsure as to whether or not I was actually talking !

Whereas, when you communicate with something/someone with thoughts alone, you are left in no doubt that the communication was "telepathic", for want of a better word.

From my limited experiences, I deduce that the "talking" that we believe occurs during dreams / astral experiences, is merely the mind filling in conversation, where it is expected to occur. I believe that there isn't really any need to talk, as we know it.

When I'm in trance, it often seems like I'm having thoughts without wrapping them up in words first.

Hmm....a little offtopic, about dreams:
sometimes when i get really scary nightmares, wich dont end for a long time(usually there is nothing frightening, e.g.  im in my room, and its empty and all is very gray, and i get a feeling thet there is something realy scary)
so...if i get those dreams i usually try to scream for someone to wake my up...
i dont know if im screaming, but at first my mouth is like sealed, and nothing comes out and i have to try very hard to start screaming, and only hten with great effort i can wake up...

1)Is that screaming similar to what you have to do to get out of your body?
2)Why i get such scary dreams, ok i may have a nightmare, but in those dream there is nothingscary, only feeling that something bad is going to happen, but is far more frightening that ordinary nightmare..?

Update:
Most recent event was last night...
i like to leave cd playing quit loud while im sleeping,
on this cd there was some meditation records, and when i woked up one of them was playing(as i remember this time i got that frightening feeling from sound, i guess was from my player):
Tibetian Chakra Meditations-Sacral Chakra
does it makes any sense, or just a vivid dream?
Nice to see you :)

We can communicate on the astral plane and in other spiritual realms
1. with clairvoyant images received and by sending  images  which are clairvoyantly interpreted

2. with telepathy so that we send a message to a mate that has projected with us and they split their consciousness to remain where they are and be aware also of what we are experiencing

3. with remote voice projection this is harder to learn and I cannot do this myself yet but i have witnessed those that can .I know that students  develop this naturally . It is useful for soul rescue to make an unaware human  who is unable to see you hear you with physical ears . Remote voice projection is developed after telepathy , projection and Clarance .

4. with touch. It is possible to be felt in astral and to move things
Clair sentience develops before Clarance so that the person you try to wake is more likely to feel you than see you .

The problem with speaking seems to be associated with the problem of hearing, like you're not fully in tune. You may find it useful to make lots of noise after you exit, like dragging chairs across your room, clapping hands, turn on the stereo and turn up the volume, this should work.
