Its better to remember that i dont believe in 2012 and Mayan prophecies! What i was saying its that its strange to see so many natural disasters. The natural question that follows is: dont you think that we are "hurting" to much the planet?

Sadly USA government dont give a s*** to that. The Kyoto Treatise its something that they dont like... thats very bad!! USA think that they can be in the charge of the wolrd: "Hey, you, Iran people, stop with nuclears weapons- we can have it but you dont- or we will kill you", etc but they dont admit the opposite. Why the hell i dont see a strong country (anyone) sayng: "Hey, you, USA gov, stop with pollution, implement  the Kyoto treatise or we will kill you".

I mean, the stupid USA gov loves to tell to other countrys what they should or should not do, but they dont like the opposite (when other countrys have reason) and the final result will be a very "niiiice" (read: polluted) planet (USA produces 50% pollution in the planet).

Sorry for being so mad, but i am tired of politicians. The only word that they have in dictionary its "money, money, money..."

If it was up to me. I'd have the entire US government put in Federal Prison.
I'd get some young, fresh minds in there. Not 60 year olds that have no concept of reality. Bush is the worst thing that's ever happened to the USA. I hate the way this country is run and wish I could move out. I don't want to hear "it's worse in Iraq" and all that BS. I know it's the best place to live supposedly, that doesn't mean I still can't hate it.

I love you!

knucklebrain1970

We didn't choose him. The corrupt electoral system chose him.

Well guys , that's why Bush was elected for second time; his plan is to give a more "globalized  agenda" to the USA.    Let's see what's gonna happen in the middle east.

Kazbadan

Corrupt? How is that? Can you explain?

btw, sorry if i was mad, but it was not against you..only Bush.

Ohio for instance. Thousands of democratic registered voters votes missing and an abnormal increase in republican voters. More in one county than actual registered voters that exist in that county. There are other examples. It goes on and on and on. There is no honesty, integrity and value left in any governmental system in the USA. I can't wait till my generation is in power. We're the ones that don't vote to begin with. I want nothing to do with the corrupt system. I don't want to hear "if you don't vote, you can't complain"

I pay taxes, pay me $5000 and I'll vote. No actually I still wouldn't it's about pride, not money. Unlike the ego filled pigs that run this sorry excuse for a country. I gotta stop getting involved in these types of posts. I'm trying to repair my wounds about getting upset about this type of stuff and distance myself from governmental discussions and issues. There is no answer. The only answer for me is to just ignore the government and pretend it doesn't exist. It's far beyond repair. It doesn't matter who gets in either, nothing changes. There are too may fat pigs involved. It can't be saved. Oh and BTW, it doesn't matter who gets elected. It's the system that is flawed. Take care guys,  I'm no longer participating in political discussions.

I agree wholeheartedly. The only thing that's going to put us back in the pure state we were in during the early years of our history, is another revolution, or another similar forceful overthrowing of the current powers.

Its seems that its not only in Portugal that i can find corruption in gov. and stupid politicians.

Portugal its a little different because politicians= clowns with no funnny at all.

Politicians in Portugal are just a bunch of idiots that want money and power and that see themselves as very good politicians and very intelectaul persons.

If you see yourself as a stupid persons, you should look first to all politicians in Portugal and then thinks twice. Compared to them, even if you are stupid, you are so much more inteligent.

And i stop here too my discussion about politics because i really dont like that topic

Alright guys (and girls) before we end this topic, my turn...

About all the natural disasters.  Some are man-made in a sense.  Mudslides are happening more and more and are becoming increasingly devistating because of deforestation.  Mudslides in 2004 covered half of Haiti.  A stripped mountanside gave way in rains, and with no forest in place, the mud flowed right down through town and covered the entire village.  Same thing out in California.  Deforestation is happening throughout the world, and these massive mudslides we'll only hear more about.

The tsunami...thousands of coastal acres were stripped of mangroves (coastal dwelling trees that live in the water).  These mangroves had the potential of reducing drastically the damage done by that giant wave.  Satellite pics show one village with mangroves sitting next to another village stripped and the difference in damage is obvious.  Those villagers that lived with the mangroves still there suffered much less casualties.

Global temp through-out the world have warmed on average 1 degree Celcius, causing at least a slight rise in sea level.  But, an average of 1 degree Celcius means that in some locations (especially in the poles) they've seen a rise as much as 5 degrees on average throughout this century, mainly in the last decade.  These increases in temperatures and slight rise in sea level (unoticeable without exacting instrument measurements) are whats causing our beaches here in Florida USA to be eroded at a rate no one has seen.  I've lived in Florida now for 25 years, beach erosion has always been a controllable problem.  It isn't anymore, especially after 4 hurricanes.  And you think 4 hurricanes is bad, the Phillipine Islands I heard got hit with 10 cyclones (hurricanes) in 2004!

Beyond the public eye, there is the 6th mass extinction of species occuring (the last extinction spasm killed the dinosaurs).  Why hasn't the public heard more about this?  First of all, its in the news (check out www.6thmassextinction.com ), but our media has not covered it with the vigor that they cover the break up of Brad and Jennifer.  The politicians don't want to admit it, cause to stop the problem would mean pulling their hands out of the wallets of the industries that are causing the problem.

I could go on and on.  I don't mean to offend anyone, but we all need to stop denying this problem.  We are losing species now at a rate that has surpassed the extinction rate during the previous 5 mass extinctions.  We stand to lose 25% of ALL MAMMALS in the next 50 years or less!  And that statistic does not take into account any species extinctions that are brought about due to global warming.  When global warming is added to the mix, if things stay the same, we are looking at losing 75% OF ALL ANIMAL SPECIES IN 30 YEARS OR LESS.

Yes, the Bush administration has a problem, their hands are too deep in someones pocket.  Of all people who should know, someone at his level should, and he does know.  World leaders and EVERY RESPECTABLE SCIENTIFIC ORGANIZATION is educating him on the problem.  We need change.  We need to educate the people so they can make educated decisions concerning who they are going to put in office.  But really, it is not us that votes these politicians into office, the mass media decides, then they act and convince all of us on the ways of the world and how it should be and who should be voted in.

Please take a second to visit my sites to see how far down this environmental rabbit hole goes.  We are on the brink of environmental collapse.  If you don't believe me, visit my sites and get educated.

did anyone hear about the ruins uncovered by the tsunami, could that not have been the sole purpose destiny allowed such a catastrophe involving human life.  imagine the water going out, and then the city of myth far out before you, and then the wave.  it left some lion carved stone. a lion, this means something.  speculate...the world is going to something

Kazbadan

Who knows...maye there is something happening to the world: we see people flying in the skys (with AP), we se people with Tk powers more than ever, we see ufos and other strange things. If this things are real (Tke, etc) maybe we are enetering in a kind of new age.

this is just a supposition.

I dont care about that (new era, human transition) to be honest, but i care with more real problems like polltuin, dryness, etc.
I love you!

Willis,

Thanks for the post. It's eye opening. I had heard of the mass extinction problem before but never knew it had already come to such a large scale. As I understand, there is an extreme problem with the amount of coral being lost in the oceans as well. This is bad stuff.
What is the sound of no leaves cloving?

Willis

no_leaf,

Coral is suffering badly.  Latest predictions is that the entrire Great Barrier Reef off Australia will be bleached and dead withing 45 years.  Belize's barrier reef, 2nd largest barrier reef in the world (2nd to Australia's) has already lost almost 50% of its coral to bleaching blamed on global warming and recent hurricanes.  Bad stuff indeed.

QuoteCan you explain what the hell is going on?

I think that is exactly what is going on...hell... People should not act so surprised that the earth is shaking, we are part of the reason. Probably the greatest part.
