Air Magick

Many people argue that 'air' is not an element. In fact i'm reading a book now that states it isn't, but instead is like a glue between fire and water, a mediator. I dont know if its true or not, but i know that it has to be some kind of seperate thing.

So i was wondering, what you air magickians can do with, air! What purposes do you use it for? I know it can be used astrally as well as physically.

I'm just a starter at this. What i've tried to do is:
1) picture myself 'dissolving' into the air, and then controlling it like that.
2) trying to sort of 'force' it to do what i intend (not a great option, and it didnt really work)
3) For lack of a better description, 'ask it' to move in the direction i wish it to.
4) Today i've just figured out a new way i might try: Instead of 'dissovling' into the air, becoming part of IT, i will try to 'suck it in' or make IT apart of ME.
5) Hope really really hard.... (just kidding)

Also, i find it 10x harder to do it indoors.

Any thoughts, comments, ideas, etc?

I'm not really an "air magician" as you put it, but I do work with the elementals in much the same way as angels. I find that if all else fails, a few well worded prayers in the direction of this element will result in a bit of serendipitous inspiration to do something, usually very non sequetur that ends up solving my problem. Don't know if that helps, or is anything like what you were looking for, but it is my experience, and I can share little else.

What are all those elements needed for? Isn't it easier to just make a wish while in the trance and watch it happen?
If you want to research elemental magick, there's much info on summoning elemental spirits in "Summoning spirits" by Konstantinos(an excellent book btw). I can email it to you if you want.

I could see that you got SO much feedback with your question, that I thought I might as well throw in something!

I have worked with all the elements, and YES air is one of them. What book is it that you were reading which called it "glue"

? That's just crazy!

Have you ever done magic which effected the weather - maybe moved a storm on so that it wouldn't affect what you were doing that day, or raised the wind? This is some of the magic you can do with air! Also, the element of air has a lot to do with wisdom and knowledge and intellect.

Another thing to think about is that in Qabala, Air is one of the three primal elements: Fire, Air, Water.

According to Qabalistic theory, those three were synthesized to create the Fourth Physical element, Earth, through the Spirit of the Creative Powers (not sure what God Name was used to depict this Fifth Element.)

I just tried picturing myself disolving into the air and I thought of a direction for the wind to blow and it work! This is the first thing that has actually worked for me. Thanks alot for posting this OrionsDream.

thanks sooo much! And a use for elemental magick is that it can be used astrally too. I dont know a ton about this, but air is used as messaging in a way. Also its fun!

Wizard of Light: I was/am reading a ebook called "hermetics". I think it talks about air being like a glue, but still a element itself, and yeah it has a lot to do with wisdom and stuff.
Ever since i was a little boy i wanted to control air

and i jumped for joy when i learned it was possible!
As for the weather thing- I have controlled thunder. Before I go further, the way I do my air magick is sort of silly, but its something i've gotten attached to. I use my hands and a bit of my arms to do motions when controlling air/etc.
So anyway, i was trying to make it rain, and when i did the motions it thundered. Not a loud crack, but a deep rolling thunder. i did it more, and more and it kept working.

I am not sure if you were telling me to keep going, but if you want to read more on where I initially heard this from, I read it in Manly P. Hall's "Secret Teachings of All Ages, Chapter XXV, "The Qabbalah, the Secret Doctrine of Israel". You can read it here:

Just a few things that have worked for me:
I visualize myself becoming/dissolving into air. The more comfortable I am the more focused I can become. Not to be nasty but being horny will totally screw up your concentration.

Yeah I definetly agree, being focused in a comfortable way is the key, at least for me. If I'm tired, it's a lot lot harder. Even if im just a little tired.

Also, inside a house or buliding it is 10x harder to control air, bc it feels like 'trapped' and not in motion (eveno tho it still is).

It's too bad we spend so much time inside!!!
Any other ideas/thoughts? thanks alex, that is a really good way. P.S. afteryou 'dissolve' into the air, do you feel like 'you are the air' and sort of try to control 'yourself' which is the air? Thats similiar to what i do.

When I heard "air magi-ck",I think "climatic magics" Like rains and especially winds. But it takes some time.(like 2 days)

Elemental are more different to me. I used air creatures for get some knowledge...I don't know if it's a right usages of them...

Air is the element associated with thought and thinking, so using them for knowledge, including intelligence gathering (aka spying), is within the sphere of the abilities of the air element.

I have a book that suggests getting to know all of the elements. When I focused on wind things in my house started tipping over or blowing away for no reason.....The door would even pop open. I think it's a valid elemental.

The book is called Psychic Self-Defense...It was written by a woman known as Dion Fortune and originally published in 1930.

The book itself more or less eludes to magick. (she was in an order at the time) But, a clever person can pull a lot from it. It held my attention entirely. She can be a bit of a tough read....Written English in the 30's is not at all what it is today.

She wrote a lot of books. I'm really into them. I only have 3 so far. But, I will read them all.
