I'm getting pretty good at distinguishing trance states lately. I can feel when I'm in or near the state where I'll hear non-physical voices, and even 'aim' at it if I try. Same goes for imagery, which can last for several seconds at a time and I can usually control to a certain extent.

But I'm not sure whether the sounds & images are things to aim for, or distractions to get past. They're a useful signpost that tells me exactly how deep a trance I've reached, certainly, but they're not 'full' trance - I still have a fair awareness of my body.

So, would people recommend I pay them my full attention & even aim to make them happen, or ignore them completely and just try to get past them?

It really depends what works for you, right... That's what matters. I find that these noises distract me personally. Lots of the time there can be noises coming from other entities (some people even hear screaming :s) ..Which is harmless, but obviously not something you want to be focusing on. Once you channel your focus, its very simple overcoming these type of sounds... Then are the other sounds that are commonly associated with different states of consciousness (buzzing bees, waves, crackling). These types of sounds i personally find beneficial to listen to, because I'll trance out and then my focus will automatically change by itself. Usually this leads straight into the astral experience.  Yet, as i said before its all subjective...so whatever you find helps you most I suggest you focus on. Maybe try focusing on these sounds one time then try getting past them another, then analyze your outcomes =D.

Hi astralspinner

I'm getting pretty good at staying alert when I start to hear non-physical sounds, mainly voices.

I had success recently with mentally 'pulling' the voices to me.  The effect was that they got louder (and I could start to understand what was being said).  It was as if they were in the next flat at first and I slowly zoomed them so that they were in my bedroom, it was that different.

Then the next thing that happened was that the environment in which they were in suddenly opened up to me visually, and I found myself floating through their ceiling.

The whole thing turned into a typical phasing experience and I was able to interact with the owners of the voices, while staying mentally bright and alert.
Just my opinion, but I'd stay with them and 'play around' with them.  See what happens.  If you find that after a few months, there is no progression, then I'd start ignoring them and trying to move beyond them.

Good luck!
