hi there leviiathan,

i have had those off and on all my life. there are normal neurological reasons for their occurences in many cases. no, i cant remember exactly what those reasons are, but i am not a doctor alas. maybe hemi-sync can do it to you as it is supposed to affect the brain.

however there might be energetic reasons in your case.

i used to get bad leg spasms at night. yoga seems to have solved that for me, but there might have been underlying psychological reasons such as worry or stress.

but since twitching and spasming is not that uncommon (conscious or unconscious) i bet you are just fine. and if you ARE making it happen by thinking about it, try turning the energy of your will in a new direction like exiting.

just an idea, no expert here in me.

The explanations I see raised on them is this:

They are the result of an AP re-entry, or an AP / Separation in progress (that you are not aware of.

I find this to be an inadequate analogy in any case. What I have observed has been most interesting becuase I find they occur whenever

1) My mind is relaxed
2) My empathic side has dwelled on it a bit (perhaps a worry... a slight expectation of it happening). Mind you, my surface mind isn't dwelling on it. I do not think "Spasms! I command you to come forth and throw my arm up into the air".
Hence, the mind-over-matter principle. Looming prospect becomes a reality, much in way dreams work. If you think something can happen, it will happen (most likely).

You are right about the other sort of spams I've experienced. They do not hit me on a regular basis, and I've noticed that they do not happen anymore as I've used hemisync, brain-wave generator. There were one or two incidents where my entire body shook as if it had been pushed from the side (say, around my hip area), which to this day I cannot properly account a good explanation.

I am just testing to see if this is how you post. If it works then I have something to write.  :)

OK sorry about that post before. I appologize.  Now I experienced spasms last night twice just like you said Leviiathan.  Tell me what you make of this.  Here is what happened:
I have never projected before but I have been trying for about a month now. Last night as me and my girlfriend were falling asleep I felt a heavy feeling come over my body as I was focusing on my third eye and thinking of projecting.  Suddenly I felt myself VIOLENTLY shaking from side to side and up and down and I could see myself and my hands shaking. My heart was also racing exteremely fast. Suddenly I was standing out of bed in the living room and I walked through the verticle blinds and sliding glass door out onto the patio. I got so scared of the shaking that I screamed and I guess my screaming woke her because she woke me.  When I had asked her if I was shaking at all before she woke me she said no. She said all I did was scream.

During the time I was walking out to the patio the shaking had stopped but it all happened so fast that when I was screaming from the shaking it ended up happening when I was outside.  When I had woke I was sweating but my heart was beating nice and slow.  The same thing happened a second time about 5 mins after we tried to go to sleep again but this time I only made it as far as seeing the blankets on the bed in front of me before I yelled from the shaking.

What do you make of that?  Do you think it was a projection?

Zarklon

Leviiathan , that sounds a lot like the things I was posting about on another topic .. your concious mind does not cause them .. the hypnagogic imagery ( dream imagery , mind chatter ) wahtever you wanna call it , seems to cause it.. When you get to a certain state of relaxation and you find it hard to control the imagery sneaking up on you , thats when you notice that your body might try to perform an action that flashed to you in that imagery. (i.e. I had an image of me pretending to be a ghost with a sheet over me .. when I raised my arms , my physical arms jolted up ) that wakes me back to a high level of alertness and kinda takes my relaxation away a bit.

You will find that you are able to trick your mind into making it happen , it takes practice but , you say how high your arm gets , it still seems like the same thing. My arm will jump from my lap to almost half way across the bed sometimes and I barely remember the last piece of imagery that crossed my mind as it happened but I know it went along with that imagery for sure.

I really dont think the hemi-sync software causes this .. quite a few of this experience this sort of imagery limb jerking and I for one dont use hemi-sync's brainwave thing much unless my house is noisy and I'm gonna project during the day time when everyone's active.

As far as why they happen ... I know the imagery causes them  for sure but I'm not sure if its your astral body trying to exit or what. I'de like to figure that out but no one really seems to be able to tell me either.

Glenshadow .. those VIOLENT shakings you had sounds very much like the famous "Vibrations" that everyone here talks about. That is a VERY good sign my friend. Whatever your doing to get them , dont get scared even though you feel excited , paralyzed , and want to scream.  They cant hurt you. In your case , they are very violent ? You immediately find yourself percieving another place?

Sounds like a projection for sure. I mean , thats what I try to enduce but I'm not lucky enough to have that kind of "violent" experience as often as I would like hehe.. You must learn to ignore them no matter how intense and just think.. the more intense , the better the job your doing! Way to go , keep it up and dont worry , some even describe it as a hole being drilled into their skull.

Notice your Girlfriend didnt notice you shaking ? You werent .. your astral body was loosening up and your physical body was paralyzed .. you may have notice paralysis ( not bein able to move ) its a wonder you were able to scream to wake her up actually.

I'm gonna go to bed , I hope someone else corrects me if I'm wrong but thats what yall's case sounds like to me.

Glen, sounds like a projection to me. I've never experienced it, but Robert Bruce mentions the racing heart several times in his work.

Another take on jerks and spasms: I read I think in Power Sleep that on the edge of sleep all of your muscles suddenly relax.

1) Usually people are more or less unconscious when this happens so they don't notice it. But when people are in trance or paying attention or only half-asleep, this is quite startling, causes an adrenaline rush, and a jerk in surprise.

2) There must be more to the falling though. People have described continuous falling sensations in trance and using that feeling to project, etc.

3) When I meditate my sinuses, back of my skull, neck, back all crackle and pop. And my neck twitches regularly and strongly. (Sometimes spontaneously and sometimes when I'm thinking about it.)

I'm curious now as to whether I'm actually causing my neck to jerk. http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>

All the best,

Interest analysis. Hypnogogic imagery causing it. That seems to be the case for me.

Have you conciderred that you might not even be moving in the physical?? Have you acually noticed it physically?? It might just be your astral body loosening.  Though I have expereinced twitching and spasms physically when on the edge of sleep.

Sometimes I have noticed they are a result of the point where you just begin to slip into dreams. Your mind will start randomly thinking about situations. You dont see these, but you think so hard of them, somtimes they may result in your physical body acually reacting to these if it is not asleep enough yet. I am sure they are quite common, more so for people doing meditation, because they are going deep into there mind, and letting the subconscious show itself.  Basically what Zarklon said.

Yes!! Well done. You were expereinceing a projection!! That is exactly how my first one went. You can read it in the astral expereince forrum and it explains. I was attempting a projection, and when it kicked in the vibrations went crazy and I started shakinbg back and forth. At this time my astral eyes kicked in, and I saw my whole body shake and rise up. IT was terrifying!!  I new it was a projection though, and was able to be calm enough to go with it, although a few times I stopped it because I was too scared. It would just come back right away. After that everything was calm, not frightening and my adventure began.  The heart beat thing will go away, I used to get that too. Things get a little calmer with more practice. That damn seperation can be quite a startle to ones mind if one has not expereinced it before!!! What a damn trip that is!! Well done, I think you are well on your way to a conscious projection!!  I think the shaking is created by the mind. The shaking feels sooo real that the mind may create an acual vision of the shaking.

Yes, it's in the physical for me because I can feel it it in the bed. There are some cases with spasms where it might be beyond the physical. Mostly, it's the physical.

glenshadow

Thanks for the comments everyone.  I really appreciate it.  Looks like I had my first projection even though it was short. Now I know what to expect.

Only problem is now everytime I try to project I want to do it so bad and try so hard that it doesn't happy.  I am too excited!!!  *laugh*

Cheers!

Here's an interesting observation I made yesterday by chance, while I was meditating.

When I meditate, I meditate using some sort of hemi-sync to help me induce physical relaxation. As I use it more, I have observed better results, and in only a month - two months.

But for the longest time, however, I would experience spasms, and for no reason. These would come in the form of my hand/arm lifting up high into the air (not a simple spasm, but a very violent one at that). Take the height of a normal peice of paper. that's how high my arm went last night.

There was one particular form of spasm I could not properly account for: a full body one. I could not begin to explain how many times, in an unprecedented manor, my body would spasm toward the left or right, as if I had been pushed by some sort of invisible force. It was like a spam, but quite peculier.

Last night, while meditating, I had a spasm (already pointed it out). The I had another. What I noticed the second time around caused me to reflect on the first one, and voila, I came to an odd conclusion that made me smirk. I believed, in my altered state, I somehow induced these (willingly), and without intending too I might add.

With each one, I had unintentionally thought about a possible spasm and in what way it might happen. Almost immediately, it had happened in that way. And each time, my mind had been completely blank, and my awareness reduced to a considerable level. So I guess this is sort of like a mind-over-matter thing. I'm impressed because I've heard stories about how if you will something in mind, it will happen (say, will a part of your body to move), but in this case, when my awareness was dwelling on he possibility of a spam and how it would occur, it did.

Note: most of the spasms happen when my awareness is considerably to  some extent.
