That shrieking sound you heard was normal.  Sounds and sometime voices are said to be heard just as the astral body is seperating from the physical body.  A lot of people get frightened by this, and stop, but the key is to not be afraid and let it pass.  Soon after, you'll find yourself out and ready to explore!

Figures. I had the feeling that the shrieking noise might have been part of the process... *sigh* Wait, if the noise is part of the projection, then could it be that during my other Sleep Paralysis attacks (whenever I hear that shrieking) that I'm unconsciously attempting an AP? Hmmmmm.... is the pain normal too?

Thanks.
Where was I going again?

To start off, Hello.

As the topic implies, I'm going to talk about Out of Body Experiences and Sleep Paralysis. I'm not new to the subject of SP, since I've had intense SP attacks (or episodes) since I was 14 years old (nearly 17 now).

As to OOBEs, I'm not new to the subject, just to the experiences. I've only had 3 involuntary OOBEs throughout the past 2 years. 2 of which happened when I was listening to my walkman (1 of the songs was to Pink's "Get The Party Started", can't remember the other), and was then 'yanked' out. Anyway, on all 3 spontaneous OOBEs as I returned ('slammed' back in by my fear), I became paralysed.

Last night (or really, early this morn. around 2:00) I tried to do an AP while lying in bed. I did the preparations (breath awareness, chakra energy raising, etc) but because I couldn't stop THINKING I failed (though I somehow managed to get into a trance state). I even got as far as to feel 'tingly' all over, with some minor twitching, felt an overall disconnection from my body and also felt as if my right forearm was 'loose and shaky'. So, disappointed, I decided that maybe if I was close to falling asleep, I'd be luckier. I turned to my right side and did just that.

Well, I wasn't. I guess, just as I was about to sleep, it was when I became paralysed. As usual, my first instinct was to struggle (but I didn't panic so much, guess I'm used to it). But then I remembered reading something on Robert Bruce's website (Treatise On OOBE, Part 8) about SP... to properly quote:

Waking paralysis (often called sleep paralysis) will also occur where the real time body has been generated 'inside' the physical/etheric body, but actual separation or full projection from the physical/etheric bodies has not occurred. This means a partial projection has occurred, albeit internally, and is causing some degree of waking paralysis. The real time 'projectable double' in this case has not projected completely free of it's physical body. If this is suspected, the projector should relax and let it happen, or use a projection technique like rope. A full projection can then occur if it has not already happened." end quote)

There's a little more about SP, but it wasn't necessary to add.

So, taking his advice, I relaxed as best as I could, and tried to project. And the freakiest thing happened! I was FINALLY!!!! leaving my body by control! ... once I got my full right arm out, I heard the worst, most terrible shrieking noise in my right ear! And it did NOT sound natural (or human-like)... it was just one LONG shriek! The noise was aided by this 'finger pushing' pain on my back (which wasn't as painful as I'm used to) and this vibrating-pain on the right side of my neck (also used to).

Scared out of my mind (heh), I thought "to hell with AP!" and tried to get out of the SP. Once I was free, um... I yelled for my mother. Ahem. Normally, after SP attacks, I'll wait awhile, go back to sleep (and maybe get more attacks, or none). "Calling for your mother?" you ask. Yes, I was that freaked out, sadly.

Although that was the only time I experienced that kind of episode (with the near release), I've had at least 3 more SP episodes (I think) where I can remember hearing that blasted shrieking noise...
...
...
So, um, my question is: what the hell happened?! What was that shrieking? Could it be an evil entity (wouldn't be surprised, since I suspect my house is haunted...)? Or is that what you're supposed to hear when entering AP? (I hope not cause it is freaky!)

And after some practicing with AP (sorta just 'really' started and have been unsuccessful), I sometimes end up paralysed after.

I'm sure some of you out there can relate to this? Or know what happened? Any responses will be gladly soaked in! It's so frustrating not being able to consciously do an OBE or AP... only being 'forced out'. Still, I value any episode (OBE or even SP) that I can take.

Sorry if this post was too long ~_~...

If anyone should reply, Thank You in advance [:D].
Where was I going again?
