True Terran

I am 36 years old. I had my first OBE when I was 18 years old (at least that I can remember). As I child I often experienced sleep paralysis, but at the time I did not know what it was or how it was related to the OBE process. One day after a long drive back from college, I decided to take a nap during the day at my parents' house. I remember laying there on the bed and feeling deeply relaxed. Gradually I began to feel these vibrations moving throughout my body and what sounded like a waterfall just outside my ears. I began to feel like I was floating and I opened my eyes only to discover that my arms were half-way inside my bedroom wall. I panicked and I thought I had died. I tried to "swim" back to my body when all of the sudden I jerked and I was back in my body. At the time the whole experience was frightening yet uplifting. I don't remember how I found it, but I discovered the book "The Projection of The Astral Body" by Sylvan Muldoon. I also read books by D. Scott Rogo, Robert Bruce, and I made an attempt to read Bob Monroe's book, but I found it to be a difficult read at times, so I never finished it.

Sometimes I can induce the vibrations via mediation and the Hemi-synch CD's, but when I get to that exit point my body jerks and its pretty much game over for me. There are other times when I extremely exhausted, physically, when my only intent is to physically sleep. During these moments, sometimes I am successful and do get out of my body, but I'm never able to leave the bedroom and when I do I loose consciousness and dream elements began to enter my mind, and then I just dream. I think that fear may be playing a role in all of this and having a "warrior's attitude" that Tom Campbell has spoken of is empowering for me, but it's still not enough. I have looked at taking classes from the International Academy of Consciousness (http://www.iacworld.org), but I don't know anything about that organization and if the money I'll spend will be worth it. I've also considered making a trip the Monroe Institute, but that's little costly right now.

I feel like I need to be near others who can have successful, conscious OBE's, becuase I do believe in empowerment.

The bottom line is that I need help and current status quo is unacceptable.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Its a bitter truth that for us ordinary guys, AP works only a few times out of scores of attempts. One should accept this fact and keep one's expectations accordingly. Only masters can AP at will and it should be our goal to become a master, which cannot happen in just a few days or by listening to some CDs or by attending workshops. They do help anyway, but it takes a lot of practice to actually achieve this thing. (Just see the number of people who can AP at will, and you will know why its so difficult. The techniques are not so difficult, but people don't persist).

Its good that you can reach the vibe state, but .... if it fails after that, have you considered switching the technique and trying something else. If your technique fails repeatedly, may be its not for you. I'd suggest trying many different techs and experimenting. Some work, some don't.

Here is a nice compilation of a ton of techs -

This is a typical low energy projection, which should not last more than a couple of seconds. A successful (even if short) projection demands that your mind remains as conscious as it is now, while the body sleeps peacefully (may be not so deeply).

Best thing to do is to not to worry about projecting when you are too tired, and instead sleep deeply and for a longer time than you usually sleep. When you wake up, you do you routines for an hour or two and go back to bed.... that is the best situation for AP.

We beginners must intentionally create situations that are most favorable for an AP, and then hope for the best. Once you know what actually makes it work every time and for sure, you have mastered it.

Hey

Hemisync hasn't really worked for me. The best thing that I've found is a CD called the Tibetan Chakra Meditation CD. Here's the link for where you can get it off of amazon.com   http://www.amazon.com/Tibetan-Chakra-Meditations-Christa-Michell/dp/B00003Q5AL

I'm not sure how much you know about chakras, but basically they are the 7 energy centers of our energy/astral body. What the CD does, is each track opens up each one of these energy centers, which raises your vibrations. I'm sure you've noticed how you feel these vibrations or may hear buzzing when you get to the point of almost exiting. All this is, is your energy body speeding up and going to a higher vibration. This CD has been very effective for me.

The best way to use the CD, is download it onto your Ipod, and put it on repeat. Then take a nap with it playing. As you slowly wake up, you will be in the trance-like state which is necessary for having an OBE. For me, it's worked about 75% of the time. Just choose a time and place you know that you can take a nap and not be interrupted.

Hope that helps! If it doesn't induce an OBE, you will wake up soooo refreshed because it balances and energizes your energy body. If you don't know much about chakra and energy work, you should read up. It all makes a whole lot of sense. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any success with the CD.

Hey bondgirl once you exit are you in our real reality cause thats what I want first. I want to explore our world while time flows like normal.

Hey 2432615184

My first probably 7 OBE's I stayed in the real time zone, and just floated around my room. I would recommend the first times you come out- probably the first at least 5 stay local. This will enable you to master being able to move, and control where you go. A lot of it is all controlled with your thoughts. Just think: "I want to go over here" or sometimes you can move with your astral arms and legs, and just kind of float.

Once you master being able to move around, then move outside your house and experiment going in and out of the walls. That is REALLY cool! The next step after that, is learning to speed up your movements to the point you are flying. The way that I've been able to get places really fast, is put your arms (of course I'm speaking of your astral arms) straight forward like in a superman position, and put your head down. You'll really pick up some crazy speed. The first time I did this, I just traveled through blackness for a while, enjoying the rush of this flying sensation. When you travel like this, you leave the real time zone, and end up at higher vibrational levels. Things usually at these realms are very beautiful. This is where I have talked to a few deceased children who were close to a level I believe was heaven.

But back to your question- the first few times you are out, you'll be in the real time zone because you will probably be so excited that you are out, and sometimes this will make you return to your body fairly quickly. The first few times for me, I was out for only a few minutes at a time. It's such a rush though! I can't wait for you to experience it. Be sure and keep me posted on your progress.

Lindsay,

Thanks for the recommendation.  I downloaded the whole album.  I found that some of my chakras were energized, particulary the solar plexus chakra, while listening.  At times it was so intense it made me laugh, if that makes sense (solar plexus).  I intend to keep you using it.  Kind of awesome how when the bell chimes at the end of each track, that it would bring that particular chakra back to a "normal" level!  I think listening to this CD, followed by hemisych might help me even further.... BTW, if you ever would  like to the company, I'd love to hitchhike with you!!! :)

Psan,

Thanks for the insight and advice.  I recognize some of the techniques from your link and I think there are some good avenues presented there that I intend to explore.  I often use the one where you visualize yourself stretching outside your physical body.  I think you are also correct that I need to lower my expectations.  Indeed AP seems to happen to me most of the time when I am not thinking about it.  My friend and I have coined the phrase "hella-tired" because when I am physically exhausted, the probability of having an AP is more pronounced.

That is not stated enough around here.

Amen!  It takes very deep relaxation and also good concentration, both of which take a lot of dedication to practice.

I agree with Lindsay that this CD is very good.  I started using it several years ago and it helped me Learn how to relax deeply to the point I could get into a good trance zone for OBE and AP. (And no I still can't do it at will!)

I guess I would say to those of you having trouble getting untracked, make sure you first learn to get deeply relaxed.  If you don't master that you'll really be frustrated.

Psan,

I took your advice on getting up early then going back to sleep.  Got up around 6:30AM then went to the gym.  I listened to that CD that Lindsay recommended, then finally decided to "sleep".  I was laying there on my side getting closer and closer to sleeping when I felt the "swaying" sensation and started to hear the buzzing in my ears.  Of course instead of remaining relaxed, I got excited that I was about to have an OBE, then it ended.

Two lessons learned here:  First, getting up then exercising and going back to sleep is an "ideal condition" for an OBE. Second, I've got to learn to relax, even when I enter a pre-OBE state.  I suppose that lesson will indeed be my biggest challange.

Of course just talking about all of this stuff on this site is helping me.

Thanks again,

Psan

You are welcome :)

Keeping a passive and "I don't care" mood helps.
You can try different things too, like not exercising and just returning to bed after a hot shower etc.
