Hi all,

I read little about the astral projection earlier and almost forgot it.I remember I just intended to do that, but I was afraid to try.

Nowadays, after some time I start thinking again of astral projection.I am not sure whether I'll do it and want you to give me good reasons why I suppose to do it.Why people do astral projection? What are benefits of it.

If you need to ask that question, then astral projection is probably not for you.

Questioner

I wouldn't say that.

However, the point of going after APing is to find your own reasons, and find you own way.

SkepticBoy

For myself and I bet for many others, AP is about trying to find proof of the soul existing outside the physical body. If this can be done then people feel better and happier in their knowledge of the existence of life outside this reality.

Well, for me...I've always as a teenager lived in a dream world, and this seemed like a way to emulate such a thing. But...I actually found it from the game world of warcraft, one of the lore parts of it speaks of the 'emerald dream' which is much like Aping, I found a link relating to it on the web page and wound up researching it. At first I didn't -really- believe it but I -wanted- to so if there was any chance of it, what's the problem with trying something that will help me sleep anyhow?

So, I tried it for many months, and slowly forgot about doing it and just thought that it must be real. Since then I have had one OBE, it felt SO real, it was only an RTZ one but still...it felt just as people here had described it. Like real life, but -more- real and even more vivid! At first I thought I had woken up, but it was very bright and buzzy, I realised when I stood up where I was and thought...before I wake up I have to see my body, I turned round and it was as clear as ever, my body was in a strange position. Not the one I fell asleep in, and wha'dya know. I woke up in that position :P

This was the ultimate clarification for me, and of course my drive is to explore the wonders of APing further.

Speaking to the dead perhaps, searching for my lover, going to other planets, visiting people in their dreams, making MY dreams come true and feel real, visiting the akashic archives and so much more! The possibilities are endless for such little work, just trying every night, and if it fails it just ensures a good nights sleep or a good dream.

So, thats why.
Do by not Doing.

Fourthdimension

I think that is a good question.

Many people have different reasons of why they ap.

At first i suppose i wanted to find a solution to the strange things that happened in the past (sobe's)
I was a bit of a fantasizer to say in a polite way i always seemed to live and think in a bit of a dream world haha did nt like to accept reality or the reality people pressed upon us. I wanted to find out for myself.

At first when i found out about it (Matrix had just been released in cinemas) I assoicated it with that film as they do have many things in common metephorically as for instance society supresses us in to there way of thinking just like the machines in the movie did to neo haha (how stupid am i lol)
I found ap to be a way of doing cool things like going through walls haha as a kid things like that interest you.

Grown up i always feared the death of our soul that when we die we are nothing and are just soil and earth. It was my biggest fear to loose my identity in death haha

Ap bought new thoughts on that and now i am not scared of death but welcome it as a gift once our task on earth is done and experience gathered. I now do not belive there is god but know there is god and life after death.

And thus this made me very spiritual.

So to answer your question in most peoples case i presume or mabye just in my own people get interested in ap for specific reasons such as how cool it is and how many surreal stuff you can do.

When they actually learn about it more they loose not only the fear of death but fear itself and gain the belive in god and life after death

once these fears are lost and belive gained with appropriate knowlege they find new found belive or religon or pherhaps make ap a religon in itself.

so in short ap is a way to find out more about you(yourself)

hope that helped

I had to do it.  Since I was little, I had the experiences spontaneously, not knowing what it was about, and having no place to learn about it. So, most all I learned was from doing it.  It was a pleasant surprise to later read about the experiences others had and see they were similar to mine.

It's likely you might just go there anyway when your body ends and the illusion of life fades  .

Sooner or later - you decide

We can all choose to live in awareness or not.

I've actually started to wonder about that question myself recently.
I've had a few short jaunts out myself in the past several years... nothing extravagant though.
Anyways... my reasoning boils down to this.

If we come from the place where we project to... and if we created this universe for us to experience things...
Wouldn't it be logical to assume that since we come from and will one day return to that place we project to, why would we waste the time we have on this physical educational level that we find ourselves in now?

Wouldn't it be best to use the time we have to actually learn something new(experiences), instead of learning something that we kinda already know(projection)?  I mean, we COME FROM the place we project to... we left there to come here for a reason, why are we trying to get back there before our allotted time?

If you wanna go back... you've got a very easy way to get back there permanently.

... I dunno, these are just some ramblings that have been going on in my mind the last little while. :)

I'm wondering just what the people are learning who are getting obama-bombed in Afghanistan, or those splattered to pieces half-dead in Gaza or the young children who are starving in Africa, also suffering from all imaginable diseases and their skin is rotting off bottom up or the kids who are raised with machineguns to fight civil wars for their groups. What exactly did all the rats learn who my cat have torn up? What's the lessons do whales learn as they're harpooned and dried?! to death.

What a compassionate Universe, don't you think? It's all for our own good afterall, right!!.
The fears the horrors, the stress, anxiety, pain and suffering. Remember folks bad = good. Don't forget!!

I don't know what those people or animals learn, but I can learn from it. I can learn to appreciate what I've been given. I can learn to help others in pain and suffering. I can mourn and feel sad for those that have gone ahead of me and I can feel happy and proud about the life I choose to live.

It's an awesome place to learn. A horrible place to not learn anything. And we all get a chance to learn about suffering and death sooner or later. Of course no one wants to become intimate with those things, but yin don't exist without a yang.

You can use astral projection to gain a better understanding of your relation to the world around you and gain a feeling oneness with it, rather than feel alienated and separate from it. Your outside world is a reflection of your inner world.

Zino

Indeed. I feel that the things you learn in the Astral are things you have learnt subconsciously yet reaffirming it.
Do by not Doing.

Reasons for me?  Learning.  Going to other planets, speaking to other races, seeing sights, visiting the akashic records, and all in all becoming more and more of an open minded person.  Also, APing for me is a big thing about "the" after life, I say "the" because even though I used to be a die-hard atheist, I think now you create your own afterlife.  In some ways this has provided me comfort.  In others ways, I don't like it, but reality is reality, whether it's in this life or the next  :-)

LadySegesta

To learn and experience, as well as to become more aware and open about the things around me. I've always kinda 'known' that there were other 'worlds' or 'realms' that existed beyond ours. Now I want to affirm this theory by exploring it further. You can learn a lot from astral travel. Both of yourself, the world, others and the world you explore in the astral realm.
I will be away on vacation to Italy and Sicily from June 4 to the 22nd. I will try and get on when I can, but that time will be very short, if at all. I'll reply to any and all of my threads when I get back home though. :-)

RisingSon

Just to amplify what others have said:  I project to find new ways of being, to enjoy the expansion of my awareness, to bridge and connect the various levels of my being, to personally discover the nature of the universe rather that study it an purely intellectual way...to find a more holistic perception of this consciousness I inhabit.  Personally it has made me fear my life less and love more without all the hopes and expectations connected to a fear-based mind.

Yamabushi

As others have said: to learn. Nothing quite like querying Nature directly to find out what she is and how she works.

Timandra

To get a better understanding of who I am,
To experience myself as a spirit without the physical body,
To expand my consciousness
To explore, to travel, to be astonished.  :-)

Also, to learn more about energy, something most people have no idea even exists.

ka0s

Alot of people have similar ideas to me as to why they project but here are mine:

*to expand my awareness and have it reflect upon my awareness in this "reality"
*to gain a better understanding of those around me
*to explore another spiritual self / connections to God / To serve him
*to try to help others in this world and have my experiences help others
I wandered slowly there
I saw a field where a thousand corpses lie
Angels sang the hymn of the end
About monsters which they fought
Over our world
