Short and Confusing OBE

Hi to everyone here

This OBE took place a few weeks ago. It was not really special in any way and was, in fact, rather short and confusing as I could not see for much of the time out of body. The OBE is titled


"Dark Flight Over Trees (Vision Problems)"
Friday, February 12, 2010 (OBE # 93)
   This was preceded by vibrations. After a few minutes these vibrations got very strong. It took a few more minutes and several attempts and then I was able to separate. When floating above my physical body I was unable to see anything at all. I managed to go into the next room and could distinctly feel, but not see, objects that I brushed past or bumped into.
   Then I somehow got outside through a small window but still had no vision. Even vocalizing the affirmation, "Clarity Now" had no effect. I flew around outside for a few minutes. Finally I saw tall trees. This must have been another physical location or a Belief System Territory (BST) because there was no snow. Allyssa the elemental soon appeared. I went down and picked her up. Then we flew over the trees for a few minutes and the OBE ended.
   Notes. Time was between 3:30 and 5:30 AM. The OBE lasted approximately 10 minutes. I lay on my left side. OBE # 93 was in a familiar location, a Locale I and also in an unfamilar location, a Locale I or a BST.. A familiar being, the elemental Allyssa, was present. Deliberate,  Confused,  Affirmations,  Vibrations,  Floated,  Flight,  Travel-teleport, Meditation (hours before),  Energy-pranayama (hours before) and  Alcohol (hours before).

This OBE actually had some promise AFTER i gained the sense of sight. Yet just as soon as something interesting Might have happened the OBE just ended. I was not very excited so cannot understand why this OBE, and others like it, simply arbitrarily end with no reason.  :?

Well maybe you should do energy work now and then/from time to time. This helps a lot

The only energy work that I do is the Yogic breathing exercise known as pranayama. I do not practice any form of chakra work, energy meditaion or other energy discipline.
If I may ask, do you practice energy work of any type ? If so, what type do you practice? And is there an energy practice that you could recommend? Any assistance is appreciated.

Hey grey.
Is that the pranayama by Swami? great master. The only work for energy i do is to lay down in a relaxed position in slowly breath in and out. Inhaling through the nose and breathing out through the mouth. With inhale exhale i imagine pulling up energy from the core of the earth. This i usually do sitting up in an erected position(you may lay down.) Imagine it and really feel the heat of the earths energy moving up from within your feet and slowly making it's way up to your face. Doing this usually gets my body in the state of feeling like i am etching and little static electricity going through my body. Now once you feel the heat inside your body keep the energy within you for as long as possible whilst seeing(imagining) the sparks flying from yourself. Now take this energy and focus it to a few feet from yourself(If you haven't fallen asleep yet) and start to create a shield around yourself that is connected to your body. Imagine the shield having it's connection to your body through the naval area like an umbilical cord but filled with red raw energy from the core. you can gradually make it bigger and bigger but do not forget the connection to yourself. I have a different one also which i found out that allowed me to stay outside for more than 2hours and i do not even project a lot. It requires a method whereby i drain energy from six corners above and around me. I discovered it through a dream when i tested it out in the dream i were pulled away by an unknown wind. let me not dwell of to far my English is not that well polished lol :-D

I would like to thank for that the last reply. Outstanding description of what appears to be both effective and yet simple energy work. Yes breathing can create ALOT of energy, more than most people would realize. The idea of focusing that energy directly into a shield appears to be an excellant concept. I will have to give that a try.
Regarding the pranayama (breath exercises) that I practice. The idea is to inhale for 4 seconds, retain the breath for 16 seconds and exhale for 8 seconds. That is known as Adhama (roughly translated it means beginners breathing.)
There are also two more advanced types of pranayama --- Madyhama (medium breath which is inhale for 8 seconds, retain for 32 seconds and exhale for 16 sec. And finally Utama (excellant breath) inhale for 16, hold for 64 and exhale for 32 seconds. (Notice the pattern of 1 (inhale) then 4 (retain) and 2 (exhale). The idea of creating a psychic shield while practicing pranayama is truly an enticing concept.

Hi Grey, could you please tell more about the elemental that you call Allyssa? What does she look like, when and where did you meet her for the first time, does she speak to you and where does she come from? I have never heard anyone mentioning something like that before.  :-)

The elemental whom I call Allyssa could be a thought elemental which I (intentionally or unintentionally) created during an OBE. Much more likely she is another type of elemental. She takes the physical form of a small purple alien toy that I recovered during a Mardi Gras parade (the toy was tossed out from a parade float).
When I lived in New Orleans she unexpectedly appeared to me during an OBE while I was floating in the bedroom. That was quite a surprise as up til then I had no idea she was anything other than a toy. She has subsequently appeared to me several times during OBEs. We have also shared Many dreams together. So I have come to the conclusion that she is some type of elemental that occasionally inhabits the physical toy form and also visits me in OBEs and dreams.
More than that I am unable to say. Like SO many aspects of the astral/ethereal realms this elemental is also mostly a mystery.

Aha, thanks. I have always thought elementals were more elf or fairy-like beings or gnomes. But there are probably more types then, than just these beings mentioned in Wiki.  :-)

You are correct, partly anyway.
Earth elementals are called Gnomes, air elementals are sylphs, water elementals are dryads and fire elementals are known as salamanders.
There are also Thought elementals which can be created by people, either physical or discarnate, from intense and repeated thoughts/meditations.
There are also other types of elementals. One well known one is the Elemental of Leap (pronounced Lepp) Castle in Ireland.
As to which of these types "my" elemental is I do not know.

Great! Let me suggest that you start with the adhama = 4 seconds inhale, 16 seconds retain and 8 seconds exhale. If pranayama seems right for you then stay with adhama for a few days then try madyhama (8-32-16 seconds). The only other advice I can give is try not to overdo it, if your breath becomes strained then give it a rest.

wow this breathing exercise really got me into a trance state fast :-D but the first time i kind of got light headed and then i understood why you said i should take it easy lol

Pranayama produces 2 major changes in a person. First the breathing changes the oxygen levels in the blood. That can cause a lightheaded feeling.
Second is the change in the subtle body energy system. The breathing increases the amount of subtle energy that the astral/ethereal body has to work with. It also changes the flow of that energy through both the physical and astral/ethereal bodies. This second change in hard to describe in words. It took me a Long time to realize that pranayama changed my energy flow. Perhaps it has something to do with Kundalini - it probably does.
Anyway without being emphatic about this I wish to give you just a general warning (if you continue practicing pranayama that is).  Be aware that it IS possible to unintentionally overload your body with subtle energy. Seeing as how you already practice energy work and breathing you will probably be okay. But if you sense that something is wrong or the breathing starts to be forced and labored then give it a short break, maybe even for a day or so.

   Well I noticed a while back that drugs can and do affect the experience. I took a strong DM cough medicine when I was sick with a insane cold. I laid down in my bed and got out pretty quickly. I could not see much. Well I could see the shape of everything fine no problem, but it was all dark and could not see any fine details in anything. I looked at the television my wife was watching, I could hear it fine and tell what show it was but as far as the picture it was weird. The picture looked like a pile of very thin ribbons, from different hues of red, and different hues of blue. It was odd but that is all I could make out in the picture. On top of all that every 10 seconds or so I found myself back in bed in body, I would exit immediately again and try again. The vision was the same each time, and the duration was about the same each time I exited about 10 times over and over and no change in sight. This is the first and pretty much only time I saw things this way, and it was the only time I exited after taking cough medicine.

 What I noticed in my obe's tells me that there is an active two way link/broadcast for lack of a better term. Every so often there would be slight disruptions in this signal from my brain to my energetic body/mind whatever you would like to look at it as. These disruptions were notable to me as almost a pixelation of what I was seeing in real time while out of the body. Now keep in mind I am not talking about an image shifting or morphing but a quick pixelation of what is there, as if watching satellite television while it's raining. The picture doesnt change just a matter of packet loss as it were. Im a real observant person so things like this don't get passed me it was the first of the many things I noted during my first few journeys.  This tells me even while we are out (I have verified this as a fact many times) that we are still using our brains either to interpret and send some kind of feedback from our brains to our energetic body/mind and vice versa. Which is not all too surprising considering our minds use our brains all day every day. So why do most people assume we leave the brain out during the process of out of body exploration. In my experience and observations show me in no uncertain terms this is exactly what happens. So by taking anything in that alters the brain's normal functions like alcohol or anything else like it, it interferes with this sending and receiving of information. Usually the kind of information that is the  voluminous is visual information. So it would be the first thing to suffer, and absolutely the first thing you would notice.

Quick question: if you were to build up too much energy from these energy building exersizes, how would you go about releasing the energy? thx.

Energy is released any time you do anything, so that's not really a concern.  Of course, energy work makes sure to distribute it evenly, so that it flows and is more usable when desired.

Too much cough syrup can cause distortion of the physical eyesight. So maybe there is also some correlation with astral vision as well.

Energy overloads are rare yet they do sometimes occur with people just beginning pranayama and other energy work. The breathing in pranayama can activate the kundalini and that can cause annoying or even negative effects in people who are not familiar with it. If you do feel an energy overload occurring it is quite easy to drain off excess energy. Just sit down on a floor somewhere and put both hands on the floor. Visualize any extra energy draining down through your arms and hands And through your legs and feet into the floor. After just a few minutes you should be fine.
