Hey all, I am new here (actually been here for a week but didn't post anything) and i've been trying astral projection for about week or more. I think I am getting real close because when i get into trance state and concentrate on my forehead I can feel a really strong pressure in my third eye and I feel dizzy and Im about to float or something. I strongly believe that i will succeed anytime and I am really confident about it ( I bet this helps to achieve projection even more quickly).
So thats about it, I just wanted to say am I really close or its just me? By the way, I've been having a headaches since I have started this. Maybe its because Im trying to hard? In this case I really am LOL
Any responses would be gladly appreciated

Best regards

personalreality

you are no where near success.

personalreality

well, kind of not kidding.

when i was where you are it took me about 6-8 months before i got out.

but hey, this is a very subjective and individual experience, you could be out tomorrow.
be awesome.

Ok... let me start by posting this:  http://www.astralpulse.com/frankkepple.html
I wouldn't be a very good Frank Groupie if I didn't.  :)

Next, I think you're doing fine.  Yes, the headaches are probably just you doing something that you're not used to doing.

Anyways, what I posted above is a method called "Phasing".
I find Phasing to be much easier than having a "Classic OBE".
You end up in the same place, it's just a tad easier getting there.

Give that link a read (it's kinda long, so prepare for bathroom breaks LoL) and see what you think.

Having the desire is a good first step.
Next, you'll want to saturate your every waking thought with it.

I do this by helping here and reading reading reading everything I can get my hands on.

The problem with wanting to do it so bad is that you will consciously be asking yourself "is this it?" all the time. That'll keep you connected to the physical and if you ever do get there, once you realize "yay, I'm doing it" you might get sucked back to your body. When I was first starting I just told myself "let's see what happens" and just totally relaxed. I also put myself in a curious mindset so as to just go with the flow. When things really did start happening I never knew I was 'there' until I drifted back into my body and by that point there was no doubt in my mind what had happened.

Hi

May I ask whay you want to do this so badly? Is there a specific reason?

I am asking this to try and understand your urgency. There are good reasons and dangerous ones. If your reasons are good then be patient, you will get there. If not, re-examine your motivations because you may actually get there...but may not get the results you hoped for.

personalreality

I had been researching astral projection for years and tried a form of phasing when I was going to sleep (I learned it from a book by a guy named John Magus).  It basically involved tapping my finger on the bed as I fell asleep to try and catch myself in the hypnagogic before i lost awareness and running through very involved visualizations.

I lost the will to practice but I kept reading.  Years later I got the 90-Day guide, but I AM lazy so I never stuck to it.  Eventually I got Astral Dynamics and started to practice hardcore.  This was when I began to feel the sensations that you're talking about.  I thought I was on the verge, that any day I would be out.  Well, I later found out that the methods I was using were way too involved and it was keeping me too focused on my physical body and it's sensations.  It helped for me to let go of my expectations of physical sensations and focus more on what was happening in my mind.
be awesome.

I agree with you, but now Im able to control my emotions and by all means I have determined myself to stay calm no matter what, and it does work :)

Hi, well actually there is no particular reason, I just want to do it because I believe I will be able to get many great experiences and so on... By the way, I am a christian so i also believe that I'll meet my guardian Angel or something :)
I dont have any bad intentions If thats what you want to know and If I had one, I wouldn't be doing it because I believe that the stick has two edges, no matter where you are (I think you got the point)

Xanth

I believe he's asking because if you "try too hard" or "want it too badly", it can actually work against you.
Because the more the practice and the less success you have, the more you'll start resenting yourself for not being able to do it... this has the side effect of locking you in the physical.

It's always best to go into this with no expectations.  :)
Just go with the flow.

I see... Thanks you for the post. Now I think you are right.. maybe I am trying to hard. (sigh) And like you have said, I get a bit upset everytime i fail, I really feel like I am close and then... nothing. Well now I understand :) no more stupid desire or some s*** like that :]
Btw I am really trying to separate myself by force (in trance state of course) and that is the biggest mistake I suppose. I've just learned it yesterday lol. Glad I did anyway, now i think Im on the right path for real this time :]
