I haven't been able to actually practice phasing for 4 days due to being sick/work and the amount of information I have learned during this time has been much enlightening. I came to find that I wasn't even imaging in a first person view. That I was the observer, and I was not even trying to experience it myself, but acting as though something else was for me. This made me realize the only sense I was actually using then in my imagination was sight, which left all other senses still focusing in the physical. Also, I have come to find I was trying to imagine in a physical area where I really don't, beyond my physical eyes. After waking from a dream, I had always felt that I wasn't dreaming behind my physical eyes, so I tried doing the imaging elsewhere but I was impatient, saw little success, and went back to my erroneous routine. At the moment though, I can't really focus as well as I'd like to, and in my rundown I realize it was kind of hard to initiate it when I had to come up with the next steps to the rundown on the spot which created many surface thoughts such as, "should it be like this?", or "what about this?" and the scene would lose its coherency. So in short, I would like to create my rundown here for memorization, to be judged for revision, and for others to maybe even use as a template or they can post their own if they'd like. As Xanth's was, mine was a beach scene, so I will stick to that as it is what I found to be most pleasant. I don't think a rundown needs to have great visualization, more so that the visualization needs to be balanced. Sure you can see a castle in the sky in all its grandeur, noticing the little flag poles on it's towers, the chains on the draw bridge keeping it from falling down, and the little windows carved into it, however then the only sense you're using is sight, which leaves no room for the other senses. So I feel a rundown should be balanced and entice all senses as evenly as possible to draw total focus away from f1 and into your imagination residing in f2.  Will update my rundown as it comes to me. In the mean time, feel free to comment on anything you've read!

The air heated by the blazing sun slightly burns against my skin.  As my feet sink down into the squishy sand I am thankful the cool water from the waves of the tide brushing against the shore prevents them from being scorched. There is not a cloud to be seen in the serene blue sky. My hut can be seen hazily faded in the distance, the distinctive scent of the ocean surf that permeates the air fills my nose. When beginning to venture towards it, I notice a crab walking hastily through the crystal clear water, no doubt scavenging for its next meal. Yet, I feel alone, with only the sound of the waves crashing to keep me company I stand listening.

Damn, I wish I had more time to practice as well... I only get few moments each morning and the odd time during the week.  >_<

In any case, you've pretty much got the understanding.
If you're having troubles visualizing your rundown, I'd suggest reading the article that Robert Bruce wrote on visualization.
I don't usually quote his work, but this one is just the best description of "HOW" to visualize that I have ever read.

Read that... it's how you should be visualizing your rundown.

It's not that I have trouble visualizing my rundown, its that when I tried to visualize it I basically run out of things to visualize in less than a minute. In that case somehow forming a loop in your visualization seems to be the best but it needs to capture as many senses as possible and keep your attention focused on it which can make it difficult to come up with on the spot compared to a visualization of just like walking in a circle. Either way I'll give it a read as there's bound to be some fruitful information held within.

That is very correct.
Your rundown should be enticing enough for you to not get bored... but it should also be repetitive enough to keep you interested.

yeah so I decided having a destination in the rundown leaves no room for continuation thus I'm changing it to a small island scene where random activities can be done, something that looks like this -

Very nice picture.  I think I've been on that beach before.  ;)

I actually modified my rundown slightly this morning during the few minutes I had to practice between my snooze alarms.
I'm still sitting on my rock at the beach which is on Lake Ontario, just south of where I live.
(I used to go there all the time and 'think'... it was my "thinking spot" hehe)
Anyways, I've adjusted the rundown to be just me skipping rocks along the top of the water.

It's what I always used to do when I was up there sitting and thinking.
I always enjoyed doing it too.  This morning it worked rather well.

Last night I created a rundown in Astralpulse Island...and used a hollow pyramid (that huge useless pyramid in the middle) to force the 3D blackness by intention...I fell asleep inside. Found nobody there during rundown, I was alone in the island.

I used to use that picture as a background on my computer. I love it. I'm going to Grand Cayman this summer for vacation. I bet as I lay in complete relaxation on a hammock in the shade beneath the coconut palms, I experience some really cool projections. I will be in the ideal frame of mind.

thanks for the hammock idea, I shall put it on my island. As an update my rundown is evolving to an extent even I did not initially realize it could, so I feel now as I evolve, my rundown does with it. I finally found a suitable activity that is just a blast to do to which I have developed my own "abilities" coinciding with it that are all the more fun to perform while still sticking to the original guidelines I set for myself.

Undertones

I finally came up with a rundown that feels right for me. I'm going to describe it here so I can get it down on "paper", and maybe get a little feedback.

There is a 1-room stone cottage in the middle of a clearing in a woods with huge trees. They reach up to the sky and block all views but the circle of blue sky above them. The trees are primarily pine trees so looking too far in the woods gives the perception of shadow. There is deep red, rich soil and lots of deep greens. I can hear the wind in the trees. There are birds chirping in the flora around me – not many, but enough to let me know there is life out there.

The path to the cottage is laid stones. The lawn around the cottage is well-maintained with little white flowers, some lilac trees.

I walk up the path feeling the hardness and solidity of the ground/stones under my feet. I smell the woods – warm pine mixed with soil. The sun comes down through the opening of trees and warms me.

I can:

1. Walk around the cottage and feel the stones or discover new things in this surrounding each time I visit – maybe a water well that wasn't there before. Well, I'll just go ahead and look down in there. Yell something into it and listen for an echo...Drop a rock in and listen for a splash...Smell the water at the bottom....Look at the bucket dangling from the rope....

2. Go into the cottage and feel the stone walls. Examine the wooden table that holds an old, large book with the word "Knowledge" inscribed in gold-leaf on the cover. Smell the scent of the inside of the cottage. Listen to the fire in the fireplace. Feel the coolness. Feel the solitude. Sit and think. Go towards that door in the back that leads to......hmmmm. I'll probably find out when the time is right.

In this rundown I can use all 5 senses which I understand is the best thing for initiating a good phase. Hopefully you'll be hearing from me that, now that I have rundown solidified in my head, I am making progress.

Any input would be appreciated. How does it all sound?

looks good and personal! I need to update mine soon, but I haven't been focusing on rundowns that much lately. I thought mine would be solidified also, but, it evolved ever so fast to the point of me trying to break physical barriers in my imagination in a first person view fantasy being derived from a basic and repetitious activity that I've had to basically rewrite it.

ok! here is a vague version of my rundown that I will use. I have to come find that "charged" senses gives better reactions rather than passive, however I have included both because some passive senses are simply enjoyable to me. By a charged sense the only way for me to describe it is the amount of energy involved in the sense. It is like comparing the sense of someone lightly poking you to someone punching you in the face.. although I'd rather not be so brutal, anyways, we'll see if there is validity to what I say.

I'm standing on a cliff staring down surveying the tropical landscape. I lean forward over the edge and when I am at a 90 degree angle to the cliff I push off with my feet free falling through the sky. While feeling the wind rushing through me I focus on my landing place of choice and direct myself to it (the fall takes about 8 seconds). I land on my feet, with the impact causing a small quake that sends subtle tremors through out the surrounding land. Looking into the jungle I discern the desired direction and sprint towards it brushing against the leaves without care. I come across a fallen down tree and run up it then jump into the air. As I'm about to hit the top of another tree I aerial dash forward and land continuing sprinting, my footsteps can be easily heard pounding on the ground.  When the hut comes into view I begin to slow down and enter casually. I sit down and order a glass of lemonade. The waitress serves it to me and I thank her. I grasp the glass and gulp it down. Feeling refreshed I exit the hut and search for the climbing rope hanging down from the cliff, finding it I sprint to it venturing into the jungle. After emerging I grip the rope and start climbing, ascending so that I may free fall once more.

here is kinda the scene I was going for at the beginning- http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/5782/hawaiic.jpg
