obviously i'm looking for best comfort, but also a mask/blindfold that keeps light from entering below the bottom of the blindfold -the outside lamp and early sun come through the sliding glass doors at the foot-end of my bed.

thanks for any help:)

The best sleep mask I've found is called Mindfold.  It cuts out 100% of the light and is very comfortable to wear. I've been using one for a few years and  I can't sleep without it now.

I hardcore back up the Mindfold.

I don't use it when I sleep but I use ot for AP a lot of times.

www.mindfold.com

it was originally developed by the artist Alex Gray.
be awesome.

lol, alex grey is a psychonaut so it's no wonder his mask enables you to open the eyes while wearing it. many meditators leave their eyes half open as well, so maybe that was on his mind...? one thing is certain, he is a badass artist!! if you ever get the chance watch Chapel Of sacred Mirrors or The Healing Power Of Sacred Art. i wanted to buy a small piece of his artwork, i would have paid maybe $1000 until i saw that a little doodle of his sells for $500!!!!!! i'll settle for a print, lol.

guys, thanks for the replies but the mindfold is pretty bulky. i think i'm going to try these...

I tried one of those. Pretty light and comfortable but the shaped part for the nose was all wrong for me, and I ended up cutting it off (not my nose :-(). It worked better after that. Hopefully you won't have the same problem...

personalreality

you want a sleep mask or a meditation/ap mask?

for sleep, get the one on amazon.

for meditation/ap get the mindfold because it feels like you're not wearing anything, nothing its tickling your eyelashes or anything.
be awesome.

I agree about the Mindfold for meditation. Excellent for that. But I find it really hard to sleep in it (I'm a side-sleeper.)

I use a sleep mask made out of memory foam. There are a number of different kinds, so if you search for "memory foam sleep mask" you're sure to turn up several. The one I have has a padding on the bottom to help block out the light, and it does work. It's a bit hot for some people, but I really don't mind it at all, even in the summer (I also sleep on a memory foam pillow).

I've never had a problem sleeping with the mindfold and I'm a side-sleeper too. I guess it's all down to head shape and no single mask will be perfect for everyone. So far I've found it's the only mask that blocks all light, all the others let light in at the bottom.
I didn't know about the memory foam ones though, they look pretty good.

ah, i believe you are right, and even if i do use it just for early-morning darkened sleep it shouldn't be a problem because my condition demands that i sleep on my back. my right eye also opens itself just a bit when meditating or attempting OOB states, so the MF should alleviate that effect.

thanks, fellas!

oops, caterpillarwoman, consider yourself one of the guys (it's well intentioned:) )

Fully agreed on the Mindfold, best gift I was ever given..

sola~

I'll check it out, thanks for the recommendations.

personalreality

soli, go to mindfold.com and order one.  it's like $20 and gets there fast.
be awesome.
