Nick...  I've gotten about as far as you have (and have been practicing for ~2.5 years), and I am also FAR from giving up. Any advice that people can give would be GREATLY appreciated by me as well.

(i'm still waiting for a good opportunity to try sweet celestial's get up or roll out method after drifting toward sleep for a couple minutes)

Nick

Thanks for your reply nstkd8. Hopefully there will be some replies to this topic that can give us some decent advice.

Nick (which oddly enough is my name as well :) I am as well as the both of you, stuck in the same situation.  I have tried numerous things to get out.  Energy work, ROPE technique, bounce technique, as many things as I can find and it just seems that I am stuck at the last point, thugh I wonder about the vibrations because I don'trealy feel vibrations....just feel very floaty and detatched, and like my head, and body are moving all over the place....yet I am stuck?  Idon't know....yah hopefully someone can shed light on this!

cheers!

Nick

Thanks for the reply, x_wolf19 (Nick). I too, do all those things. The vibrations that I get are subtle ones. Not the roaring ones some describe. They are mostly a tingling kind.

Reached Separation Point

Day 25
Session 47
Tuesday, April 01, 2003, 8:24 AM

Practice

-   Monroe/Gateway affirmation said aloud
-   Concentration practice
-   10 minutes of '4-2' meditation
-   10 minutes of visualization of a shape
-   10 minutes of trance meditation
-   100% Relaxationà focus
-   Project to den and back- manual displacement (Get up and walk.)

Start: 8:30 AM

...

Concentration: My focus was very good but again I noticed that I had a difficult time recovering from my lapse in focus during the break. It is interesting.

4-2: 8:40 – 8:50 AM
Good practice. The 4-2 dwindled to a deep breathing, and then to a trance. I faintly saw a face in the darkness, reeling back as if fainting. I 'feel' where I would have normally stopped meditation, and it was not too long before the ten-minute mark.
Good practice. I enjoyed pushing the limits a bit. My head was vibrating at the end as I ended.

Visualization: Blue triangle: 8:55 – 9:05 AM
Good practices. More defined outlines in the darkness. Trance was coming and I slipped into it a bit. Good practice. The sleep is stronger. (Excited [:)])
I had the urge to uncross my feet at the end, as if they were magnetically or energetically opposed (I had my feet crossed at the ankle, with my fingers interlocked and my hands on my lap.)

Trance: 9:07 – 9:17 AM

Good practice. It took a while to open up to trance after getting excited at my last exercises. I started to relax and eventually slipped into trance.

State: Hungry

6. – 100% Relaxation...

Project, displace to den, and back.

My excitement brought me back to awareness- or was it the practice that did it? Next time I may go from visualization to relaxation.

Start: 9:30 AM   Alarm: 12 NOON

10:10 AM
I lay down and could not really relax. I continued and eventually started getting the visions. They were faint, and I'll focus on them and they'd go away. I kept moving and engaging relaxation, and I eventually got deeper.
The visions would stat and it seemed, at the same time, that my heart would speed in rate of beats. I would breathe in a way to attempt to slow down my heartbeat- as it was very distracting- and the visions would go away. This happened several times.
Later I ended up partly in a dream. There was a helicopter next door, or rather in the space between this house and the next- the dividing lawn. The guy next door had a helicopter. On the last imagery before I caused it to end with my breathing the helicopter landed. On this one it was there at the start, and then it took off.
I was looking from the driver's seat of a car parked in this driveway. The helicopter took off, and I was looking up out of the window as it did. The window and car seemed to change shape in order to allow me to focus on the helicopter, as I wanted. I saw it take off, rather erratically but quickly, and then all of the sudden it started veering and angling to the right and then landed... or rather, crashing. It was no longer a helicopter though, but a funny looking, stubby plane.
It crashed on it's side and then fell so that it was lying upright on its belly in the yard between two houses across the street. It took off again and erratically jutted and veered, crashing again- first in the street, then in the yard next door, sliding over the mailbox and two kids in the process... and even sliding into the car I was in. It had 4 or so small jet engines on the back, that constantly shot blue flames with a orange-read like tip.
I was stuck between running and staying. Would it land on me as I exited and ran??? Would it crush me in the car???
As it slid into the car I noticed that my heart was racing. I was still lying here, and this 'dream' was rather like a very thorough vision. I again started breathing to slow my heart down, and the imagery soon faded away again.

Afterthoughts:

-   Could I have displaced???
- MOVE!!!

-   Was this in fact my heart center racing???
- Ignore it!!!

·   Next time I'll remember to try moving when I become aware during the visions- keeping in mind to not let the imagery or dream jar my wits.

.....................

It seems like you all are pretty far along.

When I was in paralysis on Sunday I got loose by relaxing more. I'm still not getting too far, distance from my body wise... but that's OK. [:D] I'm working on it. [;)]

I'll keep you posted. [:D]

Any tips on getting up anyone can give me is great. For the last few times I was moving around, I wasn't 'parylyzed'... but for some reason I was still, I'll say strongly ADHERED To my body by some force it seems. I could rock...

Maybe I'll try relaxing even more than that next time. Maybe that'll work, and get me completely free.

Take care,

Nick

Celestial Sounds,

Thanks for the post. I haven't used any of the Gateway tapes, but I can appreciate their popularity. Whatever helps to get you there has got to be valuable. My method derives from having been in zen meditation for a number of years. I use that to empty the mind and get to trance. I also use Robert Bruce's NEW w/ respect to the energy centers and have gotten a lot of pre-separation sensations as described in some of my posts. At this point I'm looking for that full conscius exit projection.

x_wolf19

Hey again Nick.  HAve you figured out how to "PUSH" on your astral body?  If that doesn't make sense, just say so, and I'll respond, but I'd like to know if your doing that, and what it does to your consciess feeling.  I have tried Rope, Bounce, EVERYTHING I can do to try to get out.

I see 2 thigns holding me back.

one is that I cant get the music out of my head!!  Its always in there and in a way its cool, but it really hinders concentration.  2 is that I think I'm "lifting out" everything aside from my chest and head.  I did energy work last night on my head and upper torso, and all I know is I fell asleep....which means one of two things.  It either means I fell asleep, which I have never done while in a practice session, or it means that I did project, but didn't get back in correctly and forgot it all....

I'll work at it again and let you know!

cheers

Nick

Hi x_wolf19,

I can't say I've really learned that, although I have read about it. I'll try to mentally push my (almost)projected double out at times when I feel like it should have projected. So far, no success though.
It does give me a slight feeling though like I am moving my energy somewhat. So maybe I need to keep at the push thing.
Regarding the music, I don't have that happening so I can't offer any suggestions, maybe someone else can. Keep me posted!

Last night I was reading in Astral Dynamics that the etheric body will first separate (causing a slight floating sensation... perhaps in just the limbs) when you enter a light trance. As your level of trance deepens then the projectable double (real time double) automatically generates and a copy of your consciousness is transferred to that vehicle. I wonder if we (since i seem to be stuck at a similar location) are not in a deep enough trance and are trying to force the etheric double to project. On that note, how deep of a trance do you normally achieve before you start to feel like your limbs are floating? Can you still move your physical body quite easily? Can you hear and possibly still feel some solid parts of the physical body? Perhaps learning to reach a deeper level of trance would alleviate most of our problems.

x_wolf19

Hmmm that seems to be about the case I am thinking.  Last night and the night before I pushed for deeper relaxation.....I blanked out both nights.  I tried not to last night, but it just sorta happened....I'll try to find more info regarding keeping this from happening, but I think that means I'm one step closer in some ways, but a little further in another way.

As far as trance goes, I can get to light trance within a matter of about 10 minutes.  I feel floaty, my consciessness feels big, or small, or pin pointed (which is a really strange feeling BTW) but yes, I do belive part of me is stuck, and I belive that part is my head.  Last night I did energy work with my crown and brow chakra's and as said above, as far as I know......blanked out.

Cheers!

Nick

Good Point nathan with respect to the level of trance. That might be just the ethereal double that feels like it's floating upwards. I also don't seem to have any problem moving my body if I want to, so maybe it's the level of trance that is the issue.

It looks like x_wolf19 has some similar things happening. I'm afraid that if I go too deep it will be mind asleep/body asleep.

Last night I felt like I was floating a lot. Lot's of hypnogogic patterns and some various patterened colors coming and going. Also, some pinpoints of light at times and kind of a white circular light which has a bright diameter appearing at times. Interesting, but I don't know what it all means. Hope it means a projection is not too far off.[;)]

x_wolf19

Nick its itneresting cause for one, my name is Nick as well, and it would seem as if we are at the same stage.  I think that the culprit lies in that the level of trance that we are attaining is not quite what it needs to be, cause i can move my body quite well as well if I need to.

We'll see, although the last two times I tried that, I seemed to have falen asleep...I think

Nick

x_wolf19,

I agree Nick, it does seem that way. The same thing I think would happen to me if I went too deep, that is, I'd fall asleep. Yesterday it did seem as though I was pretty deep. I'll have to keep experimenting.

~~First post to this board btw~~

I Wish I had some magical method to help you all project but I'm afraid I don't.  Actually I'm quite new to AP/EP/OOBE myself.  Only helpful advice I can give is to tell you how I got out myself and what I use now to project.

I've always heard from everyone that people learn at different speeds and to just be patient, seems I've always been the one trying to catch up.

--(Little background before I tell you how I get out)--
I've always had a high level on concentration and/or focus, its just always been there for me without having to spend years developing it for some reason, I can't really explain why.  I've been meditating for 10 - 12 years now and first got into projecting just 2 months ago, spent the first month just doing research on the web, talking to people and reading on the subject before I even tried to project, I think it was fear of the unknown that kept me from it.  All the stories of running into entities and such or getting lost I guess is what kept me from trying that first month.

The second month or so I started trying to project using various methods I'd read about.  I tried for 2 weeks and already could feel myself getting frusterated.  I can't imagine trying for 2+ years without success, wow.  Anyways nothing seemed to work for me, rope method, rolling out, crawling out, seems like I tried everything that was posted and/or thought up without success.

At the end of the second week while meditating in a trance state laying on my back comfortably, with the lights down dim I started to fall asleep slightly.  I could feel it beginning, my mind was still aware so at that point when I was feeling dizzy and a bit disoriented, a heavy sensation I imagined myself standing on the other side of the room, I spent a minute or so visualizing the room from my new viewpoint across the room, what it smelt like, what the furnature felt like to my astral hands.

Before I knew what had happened I felt like I was on the other side of the room and everything was so clear and vivid which scared the heck out of me.  A kind of "What the heck have I done!!" type of feeling if you will came over me and I was rushed intantly back to my body.

I tried to project later that night after I'd calmed down and relaxed abit again with same results, without the fear that time.  The second session lasted me ... umm not quite a minute I'd say before I returned to me body.

This was only a few weeks ago so yes I'm still very new to projecting but I've projected using this same method that works for me several times after that first success.

At first, having only been trying to project a few weeks I figured I was doing something wrong or just dreaming it.  I spoke to a couple people I know that are familiar with projecting and described exactly what happened and what I saw, the feelings I had at the time and they all said it sounds like a projection and not a dream.  Not to mention the fact I'm able to use the same method to achieve the same results.

I know this probably wasn't much help to you trying to project but its all I have to offer I'm afraid.  This is how I currently project and the method I've found that works for me.

I'm not exactly sure why it didn't take 2.5 years for me to project like most other people I've been talking to, maybe its the amount of focus or how deep of a trance you can achieve.  Honestly I don't understand myself why.

Hope this helps a little in some way.

Nick

Illusory,

Thank you for the reply. The experiences you shared leading up to and including your successfull projection(s) were good to read. I've been at the AP/OBE thing since about Februrary but have found also that having meditated for a number of years helps. So I think I'm right at the verge from what I've read. I'm going to try to go a little deeper. That is, closer to the sleep state and hope to not fall asleep. When you imagined yourself across the room were you experiencing any of the sensations that people talk about such as noises, vibrations and the like? If so, did those sensations come before, during or after the point where you imagined yourself across the room?

Thanks,

"What lies before us, and what lies behind us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us...." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Illusory

When I began imagining myself on the other side of the room I was already feeling slight vibrations but there was no clicking or snapping noise that people describe, which is why at first I thought I was imagining the entire session.

At first I could tell the difference between the fantasy me on the other side of the room and me lying on the bed. (If that makes any sense at all).  Then something happened, not quite sure how to explain but it felt like I was in two places at once instantly but could still feel my body and was semi aware (physical) even tho I was seeing thru my astral self at that point.

So yes I did feel vibrations and floating before I started visualizing myself across the room, but the sensations got more intense.  All I could do was focus on what my suroundings felt and smelt like as my astral self to keep my mind off it.

Nick

Illusory,

Thanks again for your post. After work today I'm going to start experimenting for a while along the lines you've described. It seems that each of us have slightly different sensations as well. My vibrations are not the "roaring" type I've heard/read about. They're there, but more as you describe.

Again, your experiences are valuable for others like me to read about. I appreciate it.

nstkd8

illusory,
Thanks for the story and the ideas. Since i'm one of the lucky 2.5 year people it helps to get a little outside inspiration. I'm no longer willing to say that i'm on the verge of a projection, but i do learn more about what i must do with each experience (and through the experiences of othes)... and that's enough... for now[;)]. I'll get there when the time is right.

On a side note...  I believe that attaining a sufficiently deep level of trance is one of the only things preventing my OBE's, so i'm SURE that your experience in meditation contributed greatly to your success.

lyn92

Hi Nick, I have been astral traveling since 1992, with control and awareness. Right now I'm just trying to stay in my body but here is how I have been AP.

Growing up I always been surrounded by the paranormal. I am not sure if this makes my OBE's easier because I am a sensitive. It took me a month or two once I started to practice. I OBE 2 or 3 times a week.

1972. My first obe i imagined myself leaving from the top of my head. I never heard of an OBE but a thought crossed my mind I wanted to leave my body. I did hear this roaring noise and then I was out. I encountered an astral level where others had left their bodies and didn't want to go back. I didn't want to stay here so I tried to return. I did find it a bit hard to get back, like a clear window, solid and then whoosh, loud noise and I am back in my body. No more OBEs for me.

1992. I picked up one good book on astral projection & remote viewing. I don't have the title but if your interested I can look for it. I also refrained from eating red meat. Diet is important. I also found many foods that assist in OBE. So OK, this OBE, I focused on this convention center, which was having UFO seminars and speakers in  Pasadena, Calif. I focused on a speaker whose topic would be Alien Encounters. I Breathed deep in & out, 6 times, filling my belly with this air, closed eyes I focused on my third eye, trying to "see" out from the third eye. I started to see an outline and brought it in closer and then I see this man, his face with a black cloud, hidden, he's carrying books, brown suit, the auditorium is filling up with people, scattered empty seats. I would get close then back up. I open my eyes to look at the clock and notice no speaker is scheduled to talk right now, not until two more hours, so I was bewildered as to what time I was actually viewing. I closed my eyes again to RV, I am outside the convention center near a restroom, I am watching an assault take place, again I get too close and back up,  then I closed off. Since I wasn't sure what actual time I was viewing I did nothing with the information I saw. At that time I called it Remote Viewing but today I it was Astral projection.

Also sleep with the head to the north, if you have a metal spring mattress this will help, 2am to 4am is the best time, due to the magnetism of the earth being greater. I am not sure what Rolling out or Bouncing is but I do know that when I tryed to Push myself out, it seemed to scare my inner self so I just imagine myself with Universal Consciousness and I smoothly unite as One, leaving through the top of my head. Another way is same breathing but imagine yourself getting smaller and leaving through your belly button. In this manner I was told you can't be seen. I find leaving through the top of the head easier, and so I am seen by everyone I encounter in all my astral projections. [8D] I always focus on a Target or a Site, like New York City sidewalk, Stonehenge, Italy. Or I willfocus on information such as where can I find this invention, or is Area 51 real, news in the making. Try to OBE same time every night, keep repeating your target. I only heard the roaring noise one time,  can't say I have any sensations when I leave, I just close my eyes and I see my astral self whizzing in front of my eyes. [:O] Freedom

This has worked for me for many years so I hope you have some luck and everyone else here that had replies, good luck.OBE is enlightening. Lyn

x_wolf19

all very interesting.  It seems as though using your less physical senses (IE hearing smelling) can really help "move" your body out of....well your body.  lol.  Interesting work, hope to try some out.

Good luck!

Nick

lyn92,

Thanks for taking the time to write about your experiences. That's what I like about this forum, that spiritual people can share and learn from each other.

The brow center seems to be pretty active for me. For example, after work yesterday I spent about an hour and a half attempting to project. Afterwards, I've had a slight pressure sensation in my brow center/chakra. It will even feel like it's pulsing some times after I do meditation/trance.

So I mention this b/c of what you wrote about "I focused on my third eye, trying to "see" out from the third eye". That's something I will try this weekend.

With respect to diet I have found that I must eat "lighter" for better sessions. By that I mean "light foods" not heavy dishes.
There has to be some time distance between my last meal and an AP/OBE attempt.

I've read books on AP/OBE but there are more to read. For example, when people at this site write about "astral phasing" and "focus levels", I have only a vague idea of what they're talking about. I need to learn about those concepts as well.

Again, thanks for writing,
"What lies before us, and what lies behind us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us...." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

lyn92

Hi Nick, I too am in the dark about astral phasing, rollouts etc. I read that Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce is a very good book. Next book on my list.[8)]

Your crown chakra, "third eye center" is your psychic center. I use this "third eye" for psychic work, my primary interest. I have not experienced this pulsating feeling which you describe but I was trying to teach two friends on how to open this "third eye center" to use in developing their intuition & psychic abilities. Both experienced the pulsating feeling and described it "like someone has a finger pressing on their forehead". For one the pressure was annoying and lasted for two days. the other had headaches which also lasted few days and of course, both gave up.

Not focusing but expanding the sight will help ease this feeling, at least I think it will. Anyways I am looking forward to hearing your results.

So best of luck,
take care, [8D]lyn

lyn92

X-wolf19, you are right when trying to AP do not focus on the physical senses, such as smell hearing or what you are feeling. This is keeping the physical alert which is just the opposite of what your trying to do when you AP, leave the physical. Mixed signals.

Wish you well,
take care, [8D]lyn

Nick

Lyn,

The brow feels stimulated at the times I've mentioned but, fortunately, it's not annoying. It even feels kind of good. I'm looking forward to trying out some things I've learned from you and others. By the way, Astral Dynamics is a great book. I've read it a couple of times. It's a great book to refer back to when you want to reread a topic.

Take care,

Nick

For the last few months I've been working on a conscious exit projection. I've been able to get to a relaxed state well b/c I've spent a number of years doing zen meditation. So I get to a point where I believe I'm about to project: tingling vibrations, whirring in my ears, a sense of detachment, a definite floating sensation as if parts or all of me are beginning to rise upward, definite hynogogic imagery. I do this in the afternoon mostly, in a recliner type chair. It seems as if I'm getting close to lifting out but I haven't been able to do so.  I never fall asleep so I don't believe its a situation where I slept through it and didn't remember.
Anyway, I have no intention of giving up. I enjoy these sessions so that's a good thing. Any serious advice at this point would be appreciated.
