I'm experimenting with different sounds recently during phasing attempts. I had some success today with shamanic drums. It seems I can get to the point where scenes are developing before me, but I can't "jump in." I get excited, possibly move my eyes, and the scenes quickly fade away. I also have trouble getting my head to fall asleep.

I also had an interesting experience using a CD called "4.5 Deep Theta Meditation-Marshland-Tibetan Bells." After listening to this for about 45 minutes I quickly opened my eyes. I saw this little hovering probe looking thing hovering over my bed. I felt like it saw that I saw it and it quickly floated a foot or two and then faded away. I thought this strange - It looked like a circle with a little flag coming out of it. I got the sense it was mechanical in nature.

Well, sorry for that digression.

What frequencies do you use? Recommend any CDs? What has your experience been?

Quick q before anyone else answers: how do you listen to these? do you listen to the background and concentrate on the noises behind or the music/sounds at the front? and you forget everything else yes and focus on just the sounds?

I trying to get started using these and trying to find out the best way to do so. I also worry I may go into The theta state and not even know it and end up missing the opportunity to OBE. You got any tips here pls?

Xanth

You just listen to them and do whatever it is that you normally do.  :)

I use one that I made for myself:  http://unlimitedboundaries.ca/2011/02/02/new-4hz-binaural-beat/
Works well for me... I mostly use it though to drown out outside sounds and noises.

I just have the binaural beat from Xanths post, have been trying it 2 evenings and I think something happened at one time.

Anyway, where's all other binaural beats you people are using/testing?

Xanth

I've got a few others I've purchased from TMI... they're really good too.  They're done with relaxing instrumental music.
Most of the "good stuff" you'll need to purchase.  There are free resources to be found online, but they're few and far between, unfortunately.

IMO, the most important thing is getting the body sufficiently relaxed/asleep. Listen to them right after waking up in the morning or midday where you could easily lay down for a nap. I don't really focus on any specific sounds.

I"m going to try Xanths today. I download mine off of the torrent website www.theoccult.bz. You need to be a member. You can ask for entry in their IRC channel.

Hey, I can't load the link off of the unlimitedboundaries website, ideas why?

Xanth

Depending on which link you downloaded, you need to change the file extension to the appropriate type.
Give the page a quick read, all the information is there.  :)

How you guys know when to project when you are in Theta from a Bin beat? I just confused when to know.

For me, it's when I hit that "point of consciousness" state.  When there's nothing but me... and my consciousness.  No physical surroundings, no physical body, no anything... just my consciousness.

But you're probably referring to a classic separation obe... in which case, I don't do them.  :)

Can you pls tell me the point when you know you have reached Theta? are you still conscious enough to think of attempting an OBE in theta? that's what worries me is that i'll be too out of it to realise to attempt.

Honestly?  I have absolutely NO clue... I don't judge these things by what brainwaves my brain is generating.  :)

It's based entirely around my sensations, feelings, where I believe I am.

You're over-thinking this stuff.  You're too worried you're going to do something wrong...
Well, y'know what?  There's nothing for you to do wrong... just RELAX and let your consciousness get swept away.  Don't worry about Theta-this or Alpha-that... it won't help you in the long run.

If you realize that, at any point, you're "too out of it"... then that's just a signal for you to re-focus and bring your attention back to what you're doing.  If you're giving your mind enough to do (whatever your chosen meditation method for achieving the PoC state is) then it won't matter because you will never be too "out of it".  :)

Monroe's "Journey's Out of Body" set.

It's only 6 tracks (much better than the gateway series' 36!), geared specifically toward achieving OBE.

Robert Bruce has used this set in his online AP/OBE courses.
be awesome.

Pauli2

The binaural beats or more specifically, the H-S, doesn't bring you to theta or delta states. H-S only tries to mimic the brain wave generated by the whole brain. It's not the same stuff as the real deal, brain waves during OBEs.

My first obe occurred just after listening to Super Sleep by Monroe Institute. I think it just got me to that point of semi-consciousness that I needed for vibrations to kick in. I was actually just trying to go to sleep at the time. I get better results when I don't try so hard.
