Dream totem

i like to indulge in conscious experiments and things of that ilk
one of my reoccurring pastimes is lucid dreaming
ive been able to do it from a kid and really started getting into it in my teenage years training myself to do it more often
i have kept a dream journal for quite a few years recently going through phases of updating it religiously and getting lazy with it

ok so here is the main story a while ago i watched a vid on youtube to do with lucid dreaming that i thought would be fun for me to try myself
it involved looking for your dream item in a lucid dream and once finding it trying to find it in real life so it kinda becomes a dream totem that links to waking and dream states
so after a couple of times failing to remember to do this in a lucid dream i finally remembered and asked myself to find my dream item while i was lucid
i rooted around in a old metal biscuit tin and alot of the things i put my hands on didn't feel right but eventually i held a small white clay pipe witch was either shorter than normal or broken
i awakened that morning and then wrote down all the details of the dream in my journal

i then went to work searching for the pipe in real life i didnt want to just look on ebay and buy something that resembled it i wanted it to kind of have a bit of significance i looked in bric a brac shops ,i looked in hippy shops around glastonbury i searched endless markets and curio shops in thailand that were full of old dusty opium pipe but none felt right

this Christmas i played an annual game of escape from colditz a board game that me and a group of friends have been playing for years as a christmas tradition we played this year in an old derelict methodist church that my friend is working in we chose this venue so that we could be as rowdy as we liked without tinkling off any of our spouses
the game takes a long time and after 8 hours of drinking and playing the game it was time to pack up and on packing up the board game right there by my left hand was the pipe it had been in the room with me all that time without noticing it

it had been dug up by my friends while at work and i told them the story and they let me have it as it ment more to me than any of them
when i got home i opened my journal to read the entry of when i dreamt of it to see what it said
it discribed it exactly as white clay pipe plain but slightly ornate and short or possibly broken and the best part was on seeing the date in my journal that i dreamt of it it happened on new years eve/morning witch was almost 1 year to the day that i found it short by 1 day
i placed it by my bed that night and had my first lucid dream of 2012

Nice tale, its great to find things after looking for them a while. From a dream, thats the icing on the cake. The one day difference, check the day of the week in both cases. You may be surprised.
