okay I FINALLY found the description of what Cayce did when he did a reading. He was able to do this at will day or night.  He mastered the art of astral projection. I've been looking for this for about a year. LOL I was looking in the text's of the readings instead of the report and missed it.

This is the report of reading 294-19  Date is 12-14 of 1933   At the beach house in Norfolk Virginia USA.

R12. 12/14/33 EC lectured in Norfolk, Va. on CONTINUITY OF LIFE,
relating the following dream which he had experienced many
times, since the early 1920's, when giving a Life Reading:
[This printed copy was taken from Hugh Lynn Cayce's article
in the 8/46 A.R.E. Bulletin THE DOOR THAT SWINGS OUTWARD
[to conserve space], which later was incorporated into the
booklet on life after death by HLC entitled GOD'S OTHER
DOOR:] [It was also used in HLC's 4/43 article A STUDY
OF SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION:]

"I see myself as a tiny dot out of my physical body, which
lies inert before me. I find myself oppressed by darkness
and there is a feeling of terrific loneliness. Suddenly, I
am conscious of a white beam of light. As this tiny dot, I
move upward following the light, knowing that I must follow
it or be lost.

"As I move along this path of light I gradually become
conscious of various levels upon which there is movement.
Upon the first levels there are vague, horrible shapes,
grotesque forms such as one sees in nightmares. Passing on,
there begin to appear on either side misshapen forms of human
beings with some part of the body magnified. Again there
is change and I become conscious of gray-hooded forms moving
downward. Gradually, these become lighter in color. Then
the direction changes and these forms move upward and the
color of the robes grows rapidly lighter. Next, there begin
to appear on either side vague outlines of houses, walls,
trees, etc., but everything is motionless. As I pass on,
there is more light and movement in what appear to be normal
cities and towns. With the growth of movement I become
conscious of sounds, at first indistinct rumblings, then
music, laughter, and singing of birds. There is more and
more light, the colors become very beautiful, and there is
the sound of wonderful music. The houses are left behind,
ahead there is only a blending of sound and color. Quite
suddenly I come upon a hall of records. It is a hall without
walls, without ceiling, but I am conscious of seeing an old
man who hands me a large book, a record of the individual for
whom I seek information."

R13. 7/12/33 When EC awoke from Life Rdg. 373-2, he said he had
again had the experience of going to the hall of records,
to the old man with the books. This time, however, he felt
himself to be a bubble travelling through water to arrive at
the place where he always got the information.

R14. 9/7/33 See 254-68, Par. 4-A explaining the significance of
the bubble experience.

R24. 8/26/36 See EC's experience recorded under 294-185 in re
going for akashic records in a different from usual manner,
traveling on a blue-purple-silver light, going straight to
the house of records without passing through the darkness or
horrible sights or planes. [See usual manner recorded at
the conclusion of his 12/14/33 lecture,

R1. 7/12/33 When EC awoke from Life Rdg. 373-2, he said he had
again had the experience of going to the hall of records, to
the old man with the books.

This just one person. I'm going to put up all the times he reports his projection experience. There are thousands of them.

His method was intent and focus with trance induction done by self hypnosis.

I have read a number of Cayse's books over the years , I dont remember him adessing astral projection .

PlasmaAstralProjection

Edgar Cayce was quite an astral projector. I remember reading some of his stuff as a christian. And there was one thing that he said that made me think he was lying. I don't remember what it was, but it was probably something about reincarnation perhaps. Luckily I moved past that, but it took me a long time.

desert it wasn't called that back then. Astral projection wasn't termed as such til after Cayce's death. He died at the end of WW2. This is the first documentation of a specific controlled technique for projecting.  You can find lots of recorded projection experiences before then but the words used to describe the experiences were different. In Cayce's time the state of hypnosis was not differintiated from projection or phasing.  Toward the end of his life he was doing this 5-7 times a day and I think the work killed him in the end.
