Hi.

Excellent idea Timeless.

"There is only one thing faster than the speed of light,
and that is the speed of doubt." - 'Sandman'.  'Good News Week'.]

"The period of greatest gain in knowledge and experience is the most difficult period in one's life. Through a difficult period you can learn, you can develop inner strength, determination and courage to face the problems." - The Dalai Lama.

Got heaps more if you want them. LOL

Love always.

"He who writes about himself in his own time, writes about all men in all times."  I am not sure who said it but I love this one.

Also there is my all-time favorite quote, "To know that you know nothing, makes you wise."  Again I am not sure who said it.

Tayesin, I would love to hear what other ones you have.

When I attended the Zen Center of Los Angeles, I always liked the vows said during each session of zazen:

            The many beings are numberless,
              I vow to save them;
greed, hatred, and ignorance rise endlessly,
              I vow to abandon them;
            Dharma gates are countless,
              I vow to wake to them;
            Buddha's way is unsurpassed,
I vow to embody it fully.

(nice topic, timeless)

"What lies before us, and what lies behind us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us...." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Kojie

"When there is freedom from mechanical conditioning, there is simplicity. The  classical man is just a bundle of routine, ideas and tradition. If you follow the  classical pattern, you are understanding the routine, the tradition, the shadow - you are not understanding yourself" - Bruce Lee

Excellent Kojie!

"We are energetic probes created by the Universe, and it's because we are possessors of energy that has awareness, that we are the means by which the Universe becomes aware of itself." - the Yacqui Sorceror, Don Juan Matus.

Love always.

Here are a couple of quotes from a book I just read, The Kybalion:

"Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates."

"Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause; everything happens according to Law; Chance is but a name for Law not recognized; there are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law."

Very best,
"What lies before us, and what lies behind us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us...." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

^ I disagree with that quote Nick. Cause and effect only apply to places that time exists, which does not include everywhere.

I've been know to quote myself so why break the good tradition [8D]

Hi Again.

Here are two quotes of mine, following on from Jilola's lead.

"Time is only relative to having a perception of it."

"Because the Universe is huge and complicated, what we do to know our place in it has to be Simple."

Love always.

Euphoric Sunrise

The George Simmel quote in my sig. I got that from the The Yaqui Way of Knowledge book by Carlos Casteneda. It's in the first few pages somewhere.
"The soul is never silent, but wordless"
* Emperor - The Tongue of Fire

"Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will." - Mahatma Gandhi

"Forgetting oneself is no different than forgetting a friend"
-ME

I don't know any fancy Zen poetry as some of you people do, but I know my own truths and this is one of them.

Can you honestly say that any friend you ever lost contact with wasn't a loss to your personality? If you never even considered their loss, they weren't your friend in the first place :-D

"Your allies in life are Me, Myself, and I, THEN YOUR FRIENDS"

"People are stupid, trust noone until they give you a reason to do so"

"Do or do not, there is no try"
--This one deserves a second posting

"No action or justification comes without responsibility"
--This is why religion is stupid. You pull the handle to an electric chair, you are the killer, no one else, but everyone involved is responsible. This makes religion self defeating because nobody morally takes responsibility for their actions in the afterlife according to our modern society.

ALl of these come from me except for the Yoda one. They aren't ina  poetic style and not hard to understand. Try it for yourself, easy as pie, interesting to read, and it will show you the truth along with others that you want to know it.

This may not be a spiritual quote.... but a quote to all about all newbies interested in OBE and astral travel....

"Just Do it!"   -Nike

cainam_nazier

My two personal favorite quotes are both from Bruce Lee.

"Be like the nature of water."

and

"Consiousness of self is the greatest hinderance to all physical actions."

Ok, mine is a little bit longer than others..

Dying to the Vehicle
today I dis-identify with my body and identify with that
which is timeless, infinite and eternal.  My body is the vehicle through which the spirit is made flesh.  All of my body is contained within my mind, but all of my mind is not contained within my body. I am more than mere flesh--I am light and devine energy, a piece of eternity.  When I know that I am more than my body, that my body is the vehicle through which soul is made manifest, then I can become a channel of transcendent, divine, God energy.

Joseph Cambell.

I found a book in the basement today and opened it up and this is the page that found me.

Here's one more from The Kybalion, a great little book on Hermetic Philosophy:

quote:
We are all on the Path - and the road leads upward ever, with frequent resting places.

Very best,
"What lies before us, and what lies behind us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us...." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

McArthur

Some fragments from me.

The propensity of belonging to oneself is an essential state, befitting ones nature, in order to achieve completeness.

Love is like a towel in the desert.

I woke up this morning and caught the left side of my face smilng and the right side laughing at the left.

If all is unreal, then nothing is real, which means the real is not. But if the real is, and the unreal is not, a riddle is all that you've got.
----
And by others;

Those who think the unreal is, and think the real is not, they shall never reach the truth, lost in the path of wrong thought.- Buddha.

Love laughs at all locksmiths - Unknown.

The kingdom of God is within you. - Jesus.

The Sabbath was made for man not man for the Sabbath. - Jesus.

Lysear

a good one is this,

"excrement happens"

It sums up life. The thing that seperates people in life is how you deal with different kinds of excrement.
