Hi Michael,

I really like the idea for this thread. It's constructive and thought provoking.

Here is a little contribution from me:

For years I have had problems with getting enough sleep--either I couldn't get to sleep for many hours after laying down, or else I'd fall asleep for a couple of hours, wake up and be conscious the rest of the night. I'm not exactly sure what starts this cycle, but once on the roller coaster it seems to become a self feeding problem. I suspect that it has something to do with way too much energy flowing into my upper chakras.

During sleep the average person extracts a large percentage of the total pranic energy which they need. As described by CW Leadbeater, our own Robert Bruce and others, the etheric body expands and soaks up this universal energy for periods of time during sleep. To understate the issue, too little sleep leads to too little of this spiritual sustenance, and I began to realize that for me, too little energy can lead to sleeplessness--ouch. So it became a hole which is hard to climb out of.

But as soon as I discovered energy raising, Robert Bruce style, this whole pernicious cycle collapsed, and with regular, frequent energy raising I sleep just fine all the time now.

I'm actively working with a couple of other people who have sleep problems and I'm trying to see if NEW will help them. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon? I'm really curious to know if this is something unique to me--using NEW to cure insomnia.
The journey upwards is worth the inconvenience.

Almost 2 am here, as usual I can't sleep. Thanks for your suggestion, I'll go lay down in bed and do NEW and maybe it'll put me to sleep.

Cut and paste from my other post today:
For the last couple days I've been doing something off and on during my NEW sessions that has improved my visualization and made my sweeps much more effective. I've had my strongest energy flow sensations yet. What I've been doing off and on is like: If I'm just sweeping up my legs, while I'm laying there I hold my hands above my thighs and move them along (slightly) with my awareness hands. I only move my arms slightly and only from the forearms down, (my elbows stay on the bed), but it really helps me to feel my awareness hands better and to make them work more effectively. Just because it helps me imagine them better I guess. I only do it off and on, sort of like training wheels, because after I've done it some I can continue to imagine them just as efficiently. I plan on quitting doing it once it won't help anymore but I think it's ok to do this too since it works and Bruce says that eventually we'll be able to do it all while talking and stuff and that we can do the two part circuit in any position. This also helps with my arm sweeps and stuff.

For the most part NEW has helped any sleeplessness ive had. If i dont steer the sensations toward the navel in the end, i am left more energized though. Steering it towards the navel region seems to have a settling down effect on me.

Another thing ive done that has led to good results as far as the awareness of energy happening naturally while practicing NEW is by doing some stretching that our bodies do naturally. The kind of stretching that is almost automatic upon waking, usually followed or done while deeply yawning out loud. When that kind of stretching/yawning is done deliberately it has a good relaxing response that almost comes about over you in waves by itself.

Doing stretching that involves very soft, lazy, comfortable movements something as simple as bending the wrists back and forth or closing and opening the hand, lazily shruging the shoulders have helped a lot with awareness of energy. Also listening to the body's demands when doing deliberate lazy stretches as opposed to doing a set number of them has led to better results. Sometimes its good to yawn and stretch once or twice and at other times you dont want to stop because it is so relaxing.

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread in which all of us energy workers can share any tips or helpful hints learned from experience that isnt either mentioned or emphasized so much in the books we read on the topic. What have we all learned from experience that we can say "try this" to make NEW or energy work in general more applicable to ourselves?

Ill start off with a little sumthin sumthin,

I've noticed that the best times to practice NEW is upon waking or going to bed at night. during both of these times it is natural to be very relaxed and our bodies are in a physiological as well as pyschological state of relaxation that is conductive to energy work. I can also emphasize the importance of these times as being a natural time to do the work, it seems to be more effortless on my part in manipulating energy. The kind of attitude that it feels like is an awareness of energy that is always there and it is a matter of simply being in a relaxed state to be aware of it.

A little while ago i was watching a child's breathing after it had just thrown a fit and cried. I noticed that it was quite deep and natural, its almost as if nature has perscribe a specific breathing rhythm that has an effect to recuperate and rejuvinate preceding emotional exhaust. I tried mimicing the breathing pattern of the child that night after imagining myself being emotionally exhausted and i felt incredibly relaxed, calm and at ease. Awareness of energy came naturally from the state of relaxation and i didnt feel like i was imagining any feelings of energy, it was simply just awareness of something that is always there. Next time anyone does something emotionally exhausting take note of the breathing cycle you get right after it is all over, it is very recuperative and emulate it during a restful period during the day and you should be able to become aware of energy instead of creating a sensation of it.
If you will it it is no dream.
