Does it do compatibility charts?

Hi Tisha,

Yes it does.  Although, again, the computer generated interpretations are basic and lack the insights that a professional astrologer would make.
Still, I'd be happy to run the numbers for you in my computer for free and see what we get.  I just need the names, birth times, dates, and birth places for both of you. [:)]

As an example, he asked if 'masturbation was bad' (a common guilt complex created by organised religion again, esp christianity), he was told 'yes'.
Well, this is clearly not the case.

Gandalf,

Perhaps he was not getting a moral answer but more of a practical answer.  Masturbation isn't bad in the sense that it is evil or anything.  But from what I understand it does deplete one's energy stores, and the energy used is much more valuable if channeled into the higher chakras.  So it could be said that it is bad for ones rapid spiritual advancement.  I don't know.  Just a thought.  [8D]

One research project I would like to attempt when I have the skills, is to gather data on peoples successful Obes, and see if any correleation arises.

Justine,

That sounds like a fascinating idea.  I would be very interested in hearing about the results of that project.

BTW I dont mean in anyway to discredit Lasher for offering computer generated readings, sorry if it came across like that :)

Oh I know.  No offense taken.  I freely admit that I am entirely green on this subject.  [:)]

Actually, since you have studied astology for a couple of years, perhaps you could give us a bit more detail...?

Maytanik,

Thanks for your input on those pendulum boards.
What you said about a white board is a great idea.

When my pendulum with board arrives I will probably experiment with the board a little bit.  But then I'll probably run out and get me a little whiteboard to get more creative with.

What I was mostly curious about was what you thought about the "effect" of the board art on the whole process.

I was wondering if using the same board with it's mystical artwork would add a level of ritualism about the use of the pendulum which might subconsciously help one to achieve success with it.

Similarly, I was wondering if you thought some of the artwork might be too distracting and have the effect of confusing things or shading the whole process with unnecessary symbolism.

You know, one way to make this happen more quickly might be to start with a super simple meeting place.

It could be as simple as a standing stone with the letters "A.P." (Astral Pulse) carved into it.  Blue, cloudless sky abvove.  Green grass and gently rolling hills as far as the eye can see.

This way it is so simple that people should have little difficulty finding it.

All of the bells and whistles can be added later after it's proven that folks can find each other there.

Of course I have yet to have an OBE, so this is just a random suggestion.

Thanks for the detailed post, Finn.

Interesting results from the pendulum.

Very interesting about the static electric shock too, especially in the context of your current focus.

The dream is what really got me though.  I'm no dream interpreter, but that dream struck me as a very positive sign.
From the overcoming fear aspect of it (turning back to face the knife), to the game with the indian which seemed to also be a sort of "exercise session" for your mental focus and control.  I'd be very interested to hear what others think about it.

I'm not sure how important the time is.  I think it is supposed to be fairly important.  I'm still very new at all of this though.

A real astrologer would do a better job because they would recognize patterns within the chart, and know which parts are strong influences and which parts are less strong.

My software program gives generic data based on the planet positions.  But it's not sophisticated enough to interpret what the combinations mean.  For that we need a real astrologer.  At that level it is more of an art than a science and I think that the astrologer's spiritual intuition comes into play.

Anyway, now that you have your chart you can look stuff up in books on your own for more insight.

Take Care,

NLC,

I e-mailed your natal chart and report to you.
Maybe after you read it, you can post your reactions here.

P.S.  I'm glad you like the tunes.  [8D]

Hi Alezunde,

I'm pretty new at astrology myself.
I've long avoided it because it seems so illogical on so many levels.
Then I started studying the kabbalah and it gave me a new perspective on astrology.  So now I've decided to give it a chance.
I purchased a professional astrology computer program called Kepler.  It came with a built in study course.  I figured I would use the software to do my own charts and forcasts and if it turned out to have merit, then I might sell astrological reports to supplement my income.

I haven't gone through the course yet.  But I would be happy to pull some information for you for free.  If you post your date and time of birth, as well as the city/state/country where you were born, I can send you your natal chart with a basic interpretation.  Then, with your natal chart, you can do more research on your own in books and that might give you more evidence as to how reliable it is.

I did my chart and my wife's and they both were startlingly accurate.
I still can't understand in any logical way, why it should work.  All I can say is that it seems to have to do with patterns that are found at all levels of reality, from the microscopic to the macrocosmic.  The stars don't control us any more than we control them.  But just like the spiral is a pattern that is repeated from sea shells to galaxies, there are other patterns that connect us with the universe.

Anyway, that's my two cents.

Thanks for all of the great info, Mayatnik!
Your posts made me very interested in trying this out for myself.
I surfed the web and found a company that makes quite nice pendulum boards that come with a crystal pendulum.  I ordered one and I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival.

Here is a link to the site:

Do you think that boards like these are okay to use?

Which Dr Who are you talking about?
I think there were like 12 of them weren't there?
How do you know they didn't steal the sounds from K9?

But, in truth, it is so simple; we only need to shed to conditioning, habituation and external pressures to 'conform' to that perceived reality, in order to begin to see clearly... and all that remains is to have an open mind to explore.

This is an interesting concept that I have struggled with.
Because we live in such a loud, fast, busy world, we are constantly being conditioned with random BS that is not helpful to us.

Then, every now and then we come across something, perhaps a book, or an internet post, that inspires us and makes us connect with our deeper selves.  So then our focus attaches onto that book or idea or spiritual concept.  It becomes like a life preserver in a stormy ocean.

The wisest folks always seem to say, "Don't worry.  Let go of all your thoughts.  Let go of your ego.  The truth will come to you."
But when you are clinging to that life preserver, it feels like it is your only connection to the good, true, higher reality.  You fear that if you let it go, then you will be at the mercy of all of the myriad of trivial and destructive thought habits that have always surrounded you.

Someone once said that nature abhors a vacuum.
That's how it feels.  Like if you don't actively fill your consciousness with positive thoughts, or spiritual concepts, then it will naturally fill up with all of that randomness and negativity that surrounds us.

Nice to meet you Finn.  I'm quite new here myself.  I'm about your age, 38.  I first read about OBEs in high school when my best friend loaned me Monroe's book, Journey's Out Of The Body.  That book blew my mind and I used to try repeatedly to have an OBE.  I never really got beyond a feeling of strong vibrations.  Also, my friend was not successful either so I thought that maybe the whole OBE thing was actually fiction.

Then, a couple months back, my mother told me about two paranormal incidents she had had recently.  This made me start to think about paranormal phenomenon again for the first time in many years.  I surfed the net out of curiosity and came across this site.

After reading many posts here, I am convinced that OBEs are not fiction.  I believe that this will help me to actually have one at some point.  I'm reading Bruce's Astral Dynamics right now.

I'm married, 10 years this thursday.  We have no kids, but we do have two large dogs and a cat.

I too play guitar.  My day job is working as a courier for a Med Lab.  Lately I've been juggling several interests, Kabbalah, Astrology, music, and fiction reading.  Right now I'm reading Clive Barker's Imajica.  And I'm mostly listening to the new Evanescence CD.

I've never remembered a lucid dream, although I have had a few flying dreams and I love it whenever I do.

P.S.  Maybe some of the regulars could post some info about themselves under this topic too...?

NLC,

Did you ever see the tv movie version of Stephen King's, The Stand?
In the beginning, after the guard flees the base with his family, there is a great scene where you hear Don't Fear The Reaper as the camera pans around through the Government Bio Warfare Base which is full of dead scientists and workers who fell victim to a biological agent that was accidently released.

I loved the book, so I was nervous that hollywood might ruin the movie.  But as soon as I heard that BOC guitar riff and that cowbell, I knew that I was in for a treat.  [:D]

P.S. I'm sorry that this is off topic.  Let me see if I can link it in.

Hmmm... The Sumarians...  Didn't they once open for Blue Oyster Cult in the late 70's?

Anyone having problems overcoming their fears should try to develop the idea of courage. For one balances out the other.

I read somewhere that courage is not a lack of fear, but rather the act of pushing through your fear to do the thing you are afraid of.

Would this help in an OBE?  Or would the slightest feeling of fear send you back to your body before you could try to push through it?

I think that the reason that some folks were getting defensive on that topic was because of the Subject Line, "Robert Bruce: For Real?", which could be taken to be insinuated that Robert Bruce is a charlatan.  That is sort of how I took it when I first read it.

The text of the post itself just seems to ask if folks have had success with his methods.  But the subject line could easily be misinterpreted.

I think the creator of that thread phrased it that way because he is jealous of the attention people give Robert Bruce.

Hmmm.  Or maybe you were saying that if you woke up in your backyard and you had been mysteriously transformed into an elephant, that this would frighten you.

I guess that would frighten me.  Sort of like Kafka's giant cockroach metamorphosis.  But then again, it might be fun being an elephant for a little while.  I would spray water through my trunk at my annoying next door neighbor.

Thanks for the feedback Nick and ChromeKnight.
I definitely think I am going to try locking the critters out of the bedroom when I practice.

Amber, your comment about punching your boyfriend in the nose (ouch!) made me think of an odd occurence I had once a long time ago.

I had read that sometimes we store stress or negative energy in parts of our bodies and that it can lead to sickness.  So one time when I was meditating, I asked my body to try to release any pent up negative energy that I'd been storing.  I said that I was willing to have my body move or twitch or whatever else might help to let go of the negative energy.

Nothing dramatic happened at the time.  But a day or two later my wife says she woke up to see me kneeling on the bed, facing my pillow, and sort of rocking back and forth slamming my forearms into my pillow.  She also says that I was laughing.  At the time, she was quite startled and said to me, "Dave, what are you doing?!!".  I apparently slid back into a sleeping position on my stomach and said, "I'm sleeping.  Why?  What's the matter?".  I woke all the way up and she told me what I had been doing.  I had the vaguest memory of the end of it after she told me.  Strange, huh?  It's never happened in the 10 years since.
