If you want to ap do not read his book.   Years ago someone on another forum did his 90 day program and he also did the ap course.   He would have spent a lot of money and a lot of time doing the exercises.    At the end of it he could not ap.   He was very discouraged so he thought he could not do it so he gave up.   I bought the book years ago and I could not stand doing the exercises.   The exercises are not a requirement to ap.   I threw the book in the bin.   I did not learn from a book.    I learnt from practicing.   As Xanth said people are out to make money.   There is nothing wrong with that as everyone wants to make money.

When i try AP i fall asleep nearly every time how do i develop it so i can stay awake?
It is not a good idea to try to ap if you are tired.    It is too hard to stay awake and you have a high chance of falling asleep.
You need to concentrate every moment otherwise you could fall asleep.    If you miss an ap sign, you are likely to fall asleep.
If you are in a position that is very comfortable you have a high chance of falling asleep.
You can ap and stay awake.   If I can do it then you can to.

Thanks for the meaning of phasing.
Ok, sometimes i can go to the trance, don't feel the body, but when i try to move my energy/astral body/etc i move my physical body.
I've read about the patterns of light in the monroe books, but i've never seen it. The only way that i know to enter into the trance is relax and more relax, then sometimes i feel that im falling or flying and after that i feel very strange, or i don't feel the body.

Greetings!

When you do not feel your body you can get out of your body.    I walk out or fly out of myself.   You can do an ap technque such as jumping.   Jumping will put you out of your body.   You are doing extremely well.   Keep going.

As I continued doing this and focusing on the darkness I saw what could loosely be described as a very faint "object" of white mist. I then started to see very faint colours swirling in the darkness, similar to what I see when I close my eyes and rub them if I'm tired. Yet these swirls were slightly different then what I'm used to.

My question is, could this be the beginnings of a projection?
You could be starting to ap.  When we start seeing things it usually means you are close to ap.   You just have to get out of your body.    Keep going, it sounds like you are on the right track.    When your body and mind is right to ap any ap technique will work.

Hey guys,

I was meditating today in my living room, and I felt myself going deeper. I eventually got myself to a state where my ears were sensitive to sound. My dad was watching TV, so every time a louder noise happened on TV it felt like I was hearing it while just waking up. And then someone text my dad and his text-tone made me alert again. The exercise I was doing was purely mental, so no weird breathing patterns, just trying to make sure my breathing was kinda slow and deep. I remember once reading a healing method where you would imagine light coming into your body, and then spreading out all over healing you as you breathed out. So I wondered if this worked with getting sleepy, I would change the colour of the light to purple and felt myself going deeper and deeper with each of these slow breaths. I almost reached a bit of a trance.
You are doing great.   Just keep going.   When you get there you will know what to do.   You just need experience.

I can understand how frustrated you feel.   The more you think you cannot ap the harder ap will get.   When I think I cannot ap, I just lie there for a long time and nothing happens.    When I put my mind to it and think I can do it.   Ap always happens.   Keep telling yourself everyday that you can ap even if you do not succeed.   You need to believe that you can do it.    You may have been relaxed but not relaxed enough to ap.    Your mind has to be relaxed as well.    Practice relaxing, meditating and if ap does not work (it usually does happen) then do an ap technique.   That is the key to success.   Forget about sp as it is not a requirement to ap.   It will only make you more frustrated.   You can do it.   I can ap and I am not anything special.   If you do not ap it does not mean you cannot ap.  Try a different time.    The more often you try the more chances you will succeed.   Keep practicing and ap will happen.

Thanks for sharing  soarin12.    That was great.   You said beautifully.

When you feel your body is numb, imagine a place, playing a sport or anything.   If that does not work, lie there and feel yourself getting more and more relaxed.   You might get so relaxed that you slip out of your body or you might instantly ap somewhere.   When my body is numb I just step out of myself.

Forget about separating from your body.  That is probably what is wrecking it.  You feel like you are flying then enjoy the experience.   Keep imagining  you are flying.   You will find that you are really flying.

Sometimes you get sensations and you do not have to do anything.   You ap somewhere.   Other times you get ap sensations and if you do nothing the ap will end.    Sometimes you have to do something to make ap happen.

I find that you hit a key factor here. Too much sleep or not enough sleep both leave you in the "groggy state" which is great for AP.
There is no wrong or right so my way may not work for you.    I find I do not like being groggy.   When I am groggy I wake myself up.   I like to be alert.   That helps me to ap.

You are extremely close to ap.   You just have to do the exit to ap.   I think it is great that you are practicing a lot.   It makes me feel I want to practice more.   I think I will.
#213
It means you are not relaxed enough.   It happens to me.   I can be lying there and nothing happens.   You could listen to something that is relaxing.   That can make a big difference.

There is no wrong or right.   What works for me may not work for you.   You have a lot of opportunities to get out of your body so experiment and see what works and what does not work.  Try different things and work out why it did not work.   I learnt from my own experiences.   I did not learn from a book or from anyone else.    It is best to learn from your own experiences.   I worked out what worked and what did not work.   Every time it did not work I would think why and I always got an answer.   I kept practicing until I got it right.   It did not happen overnight but eventually I was able to ap without any problems.    You are the best person to figure out why it did not work.

You are describing your ap signs.   When you get those signs it means that is the time to get out now.   Keep trying different ways to get out until something works.    You can just relax and let it happen.   It does not always work.   That is from my experiences.

Hey all.

The only problem is, I have never been good with relaxing and sleeping. I've had so many sleep issues in the past, and each night it can take me up to an hour to fall asleep. The real issue now is that I can meditate for a long time, relax my body.  I'm such a bad sleeper that I never even fall asleep when meditating. I've tried once or twice in the morning after waking up, but I lose focus very quickly. Does anyone have any advice for me?
You say you have never been good at relaxing.   You say you relax your body so you can relax.   You do not need to fall asleep to ap.   It is best if you are awake and alert so you will not miss any ap signs.   Being a bad sleeper does not disadvantage you.   When you lose focus it means you have to practice more to concentrate.   It happens to me.   You could do what Lionheart suggest to do and that is to relax and let go.   Quite often that is all that is needed.   You can ap instantly.   That is why it is important to stay awake and alert otherwise you can fall asleep.

Right, well I just meant was there something that you have to do in order to spiritually move away. Do you just use your mind and have intent?
Try moving your physical body.   Of course that will wreck it but you probably will not be doing that.   Instead you will be spiritually moving away.

You can do what Xanth said, focus on the rocking movement.   Imagine you are rocking more and more until you are out of your body.

My question is though, what do you "do" once you are rocking? Also-- once you are out, how do you know? Do you open your eyes? Things were just a mush of black and colors for me. Thanks.
I told you, you spiritually move away from your body.   It is like your physical self moving but it is not.   If you cannot see anything, you say I can see.    You usually know when you are out of your body.

When you are feeling yourself rocking that is the time to move away from your body.   If you do nothing, you rock back and forward back into your body and the ap ends.   I found that out a long time ago.   Sometimes you have to make things happen otherwise the experience will end.   It is possible that you can keep rocking and rocking and get out of your body.   One time I was rocking and I got thrown out of bed onto the floor.  I did not do anything for that to happen.

Cool info but how can you guys be sure its not just going back to sleep? I usually don't dream or have lucid dreams so more than likely I will have no recollection of being asleep like most people I guess and will just find myself waking up.

If it works how exactly do you know your actually going to project and not just go back to sleep? and do you just think to project or think for vibrations first THEN to project? I'm a little confused at what to think providing I wake up remembering to attempt.
You have to notice ap signs.   A lot of times we do not get obvious ap signs.   When we do not get obvious ap signs I have to notice other signs that may be very slight, such as my breathing and mind is getting more relaxed.   If you do not notice anything then you are very likely to fall asleep.

You can stay still and ap.   You can also get up to go to the bathroom and lie down and ap.   I have done it lots of times.  You do not wait for any vibrations as vibrations may not happen.
#223
It is a catch 22 situation.   Ap does not happen.   You keep trying and it still does not happen.   You try again and the same thing happens.   Eventually you start to loose confidence and think I cannot ap.   It happens to me.   I find ap is getting hard and I am not able to ap.   I have to put my mind right.   I have to think I can do this.   I can ap.   I end up aping.   You can try a different location and see if that helps.   I can ap a lot more if I go into another room away from my bed.

I am sorry I did not read it properly.   I would advise you not to try to get sp as you do not need to get sp to ap.   You can still ap other ways.   When you start getting bored, that is the time to either stop and have a break, do something else for a while then try again to ap or forget it and go to sleep.   When I am bored I find I am wasting my time to ap as it does not happen.

Getting sleep paralysis is a good sign.   When you get sp, practice getting out of your body.    You can get out of your body when you get sp.
