I think pears came up, but I was losing the trance state by that time.

Now that's truly bizarre.  I once drank some hard cider made exclusively from pears (a company called Woodchuck distributes it) and out of nowhere I realized that I felt vaguely like a giant pear walking around, or at least that's the best way I can describe it (and no I wasn't drunk).  I felt very natural and at peace, distinctly different from any other form of alcohol I've ever tried, most other forms being more harsh in the way they make you feel.  Hard ciders have natural sugars in them which set them apart from other kinds of alcohol too. Probably just a coincidence,  and I thought my head was just playing tricks on me,  but who knows.  Stranger things have been found true than psychoactive pears.  :-D

Now that I think about it, there's something else that I ate once that gave me a distinct feeling that I was the thing I ate (and a lot of other "feelings" to go with that).  They were little and blue and tasted nasty..  Now what were they called again...  :?

Really I think just about any food you eat will directly or indirectly have some effect on your brain and the way you feel.  When I take a bite of some greasy food or junk food, my body often reacts instantly and I can't go on eating it.  It's the exact same feeling as when you eat way too much of the stuff,  except if you pay attention you'll notice it's also there to a lesser degree as soon as you take your first bite.  A lot of people don't realize how much intelligence and awareness their own body offers them.

Imagine if you always kept your arm in the same position for your entire life, and never moved it.  I would say you hardly even know your arm, let alone how to use it.

The same with your thoughts.  When you plug these chemicals into your brain along with all your usual ones, you suddenly gain the ability to think in new ways, whether for better or worse (depends on the chemical, if you ask me).  It isn't a "hallucination," it is a very obvious and unavoidable physical result of what you are putting into your body, and it is no less "real" than the chemicals that are normally there.

Not everyone's sober state is the same, anyway.  Some people have more of certain chemicals, less of others, depending on their health, what they eat, how much sunlight they get, etc., etc., etc.

Even corn and rice have psychoactive properties when your body breaks down all their complex carbohydrates, but they are very subtle and no one eats corn to trip out.  But nonetheless it will produce a very wholesome feeling when you eat fresh corn, if you simply pay attention.

Someone in the forum said "I am God... although I am not yet fully aware of that".

Personally, I don't feel like being a god, yes, I am capable of doing many things but there are much more things that I am not capable of. In fact, I am very fragile. A natural disaster migh come tomorrow
and end my life so fast that I wouldn't even have time to realize what's going on...

I am so dependent on what's going on around me... I could so easily become jobless, or ill for example
that no positive imagination would get me out of this...

How can I declare I am a God?

Sounds to me like you just answered your own question.

I am what I am.  Someone with no experience in music can't be expected to pick up a violin and play a Bach concerto from memory.

What makes you so sure what you experience here isn't a hallucination?  How do you define "hallucination"?

I think we can meditate on God´s creation, which can put us in a state of awe, humility,
etc, etc, but we will not be successfull if we meditate on God  himself.

I am God.  You're right,  I am not complete here, or possibly anywhere,  but I am completing here. I am constantly dis-assembling and re-assembling my infinite parts to discover myself in my entirety across all time, and even where time doesn't exist.  Here I come into a body of flesh, which my subconscious processes have carefully fashioned from the Earth to perform miracles that no mountain, river, or even the smartest monkey could ever accomplish (though they too are all me -- I just haven't regained a clear memory yet).  Here I am in special form, with special opportunities and special trials.  Here our bodies are already modeled in my image,  now meditate on me and model your MIND after the same image.  You say nothing will come of meditating on me but I will start to come of it, because I love my creation but especially that which seeks me and to be informed by me.

If you are truly ready to "ascend" then you will do it physically.  You will be physically "translated" into "higher" realms cell by cell, until you do not exist physically anymore.  That's what the inner teachings of mystery schools and etc. all hint at, but attainment is extremely rare.  Your awareness becomes such that your "physical body" and "spiritual body" become one to you (you become like the creator) and you can create/manifest your physical body at will.  It's also suggested that you can then assume any form whatsoever (everything is made of consciousness after all, don't you know?),  and really you transcend your individual personality anyway and become more like an "un-carnated" intelligent force of energy.  You will no longer have a sense of self.  I can hardly imagine what it would even be like to exist in such a state.

In the Bible Elijah and Enoch are given as two examples by mystery teachings influenced by Christianity,

QuoteThe Bible says that "Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven" (2 Kings 2:11), "Enoch was translated that he should not see death" (Hebrews 11:5), and "God took him" (Genesis 5:24), and Moses appeared in the transfiguration with Jesus (Matthew 17:3).

http://ecclesia.org/truth/enoch.html

and there are many other examples of "immortals" or etc. from other cultures.  In Judaism there is even a tradition of leaving an empty seat open on a certain holiday, maybe Passover, I forget,  with the idea in mind that Elijah or Enoch might suddenly return and wish to share the meal.  This tradition is supposedly a reference to the fact that these enlightened, translated "people" can go where and when they like and could potentially pop up anywhere for any purpose.

I could offer more information, but obviously this is all theory to me.  I am practicing the "Royal Art" from a book utilizing Alchemical symbolism as well as a lot of teachings drawn from other cultures, and the eventual goal of this art is what I am describing now.  The author is very knowledgeable and actually teaches a form of astral projection as part of the "path," which is present in the work from the start and just builds so that you are constantly more and more aware of not only your physical body,  but your "mental" body,  and you build it and adorn it through practice,  and practice going back and forth between them in your awareness,  and uniting them,  etc.,  the ultimate goal being that your awareness/consciousness itself will "descend" during practice and rebirth your entire body physically.  Once you are able to constantly rebirth yourself physically through channeling in awareness/energy,  you start the more out-there and bizarre sounding stuff,  like translating yourself.

It is a very strong book and method.  I bought the book thinking it would be a quick and enlightening read on Alchemy,  and it is very enlightening,  but also very much demanding and time-consuming to actually implement.  I'm glad I bought it but it's teachings and exercises will be impractical unless you have a mammoth amount of time and a comfortable and quiet atmosphere in which to work.  You also notice results right away,  so you don't have to actually achieve immortality to get something out of the book.  It's called "The Tower of Alchemy."

I think what they were referring to was not destroying energy,  but the state of the universe when everything has already been rendered down to its simplest parts and everything is at equilibrium.  Because entropy in thermodynamics dictates that energy is always lost in transfer from one thing to another, and eventually anything is going to break down to dust, so to speak, whether it be a machine or a human body.

The counter-acting force to entropy is found in nature as life/biological processes.  Information is now recognized as a form of complex energy, because information allows things like humans to organize matter in a way that defies entropy, and puts things back together and creates more potential energy rather than just letting everything degrade to nothing.  And on a human level,  if information is energy,  then hate and fear represent forces of entropy while love and compassion bring things together and represent the force that defies entropy.

It might be a few particles stimulating your sense of smell, but who knows.  I had a similar thought when I started recently noticing that I can get the sensation of the taste of something simply by receiving it and carrying it in my hands, even when it doesn't taste like it smells or when it's packaged.

Along the quantum interaction line, your hands are supposed to be particularly sensitive energy exchange centers.  So subtle energy is supposed to flow more easily through your hands,  also your feet and in general wherever you have a lot of nerves in your body.  Your hands have proportionately a lot more nerves per area than most other parts of your body, for example.

Look at Robert Bruce's new Energy Ways (NEW) for a Western equivalent of how to build the chakra system.

I'm very interested and a fan of this man's work, Dr. William Tiller:

I bought a book of his and read and it made a lot of sense to me, too.  Never formally studied quantum physics or anything but I'm an engineering major and am familiar with the general concepts and I was very impressed, and it resonated very deeply with my world view.

I've seriously debated it, but if it wont help me in anyway other than "a better understanding of perspective" then I really don't need it; i'm not an art major

Hmm!

Do you enjoy anything artistic, like music, poetry, literature, etc... ?  You seem interested in AP at least, and that's traditionally considered a part of the "Royal Art" taught by mystical philosophies and mystery schools, which is definitely an art itself.  I consider life, and living an art.

Anyway, the reason I ask is because the artist is only worth as much as their artistic vision, in any sort artistic endeavor whatsoever.  And while that artistic vision is only going to be as powerful as the artist's mind,  I can personally testify to the usefulness of understanding the huge role perspective plays in our universe, in all subjects, across the board. Perspective in art theory is a metaphor for perspective in all other fields. Perspective is the "observer" that's even creeping into quantum mechanics, but is already very well recognized in psychology.  Anyway, I would consider someone who didn't study the phenomena to be at a certain disadvantage, if not for just missing out on the fun.  Perspective is everything. :)

Actually, now that I think about it, I was able to initiate a lucid dream with salvia once.  I was laying down to bed, and I made sure it was quiet and all the lights were out (definitely helps) and used it right before I laid my head down on the pillow.  I laid comfortably on my back like Robert Bruce suggests for obe's.  I had a pretty vivid experience of flying around above a house, but unfortunately I don't remember much of it now.  I have it written down in a dream journal somewhere.

I've done it before and whoever said you have trouble functioning on it is right.  For a solid 2 or 3 minutes you probably won't be able to stand.  Your "thoughts" will hardly be intelligible, and everything you see will still have a geometry to it, but that's about as much as anyone can predict about what you will see.

I recommend it.  After you do it once you probably will need some time to think about what just happened to you before you would want to do it again.  It doesn't "feel good" in any way (it doesn't feel bad, either, just a strange flavor of neutral),  it just really plays with your head.  As far as affecting your "vibration,"  fear is what affects your vibration,  and the more fear you have (of ANYTHING) the more restrained you are.  All these people that poo-poo salvia because it is a "drug," ingest things that are 100x more harmful on a daily basis without so much as a whimper, I assure you (fluoride in your water? -- also calcifies your pineal gland).  They do it because they are ignorant.

I only tried salvia a few times, but then sometimes afterwards I would find staring at concrete on the ground or tiles in a building, and weird geometrical features would pop out at me.  Not that I was still under the influence of it,  but more like my mind was trying to wrap itself around properties and characteristics of the things I was looking at that I normally don't perceive or try to analyze except for exposure to salvia.

If you do it one time it will leave you thinking "what the...!".  If you do it more, try to train your brain to function intelligently while on it.  I'm sure it can be done, but the world you are faced with is so alien and bizarre that at first you don't even know what is going on.  There is absolutely no risk of become addicted to it.  More than likely after your first time, you will be overwhelmed and not want to do it again.  Just be in a safe environment with a buddy or two to (respectfully) watch over you.

1) glancing in a direction and realizing a terrorist was about to detonate a bomb, pull out a gun and shoot people, etc- assume there was a very short window of time to stop the terrorist and that they could not be reasoned with.

If I was close by and didn't feel like dying,  I would try to kill him if necessary or else just try to get out of the way.

Quote2) someone breaking into a home, and they have a lethal weapon- gun, knife, crowbar, baseball bat, etc.

Placing so much value on material possessions is evil.  I would leave him alone.

Quote3) someone stealing something of great value to someone, either you or someone else, at a place other than home, like a party or a bar.

Same, I would let them.  If anyone asked,  I would say something,  but I wouldn't stop them in the process or make a big deal about it.

Quote4) someone trying to take someone's life without an apparent reason, either yours and/or or someone else's.

I would do what I could I guess.

Quote5) someone commits a horrible crime- i.e. murders one or many people, or injures a lot of people in a way that leaves those people physically deformed. Later, they are caught. What should be done with them?

What "should" be done with them? Let them go.  But what "should" happen is also what anybody decides to do.

QuoteI think this is more complicated than it appears. Does it make sense to destroy dangerous people (death penalty), keep them drugged constantly so that they cannot move, etc.? How many chances does a person get to show remorse for their evil deeds? Is violence, such as in self-defense, ever okay?

I once read something very inspiring in the Bhagavad Gita.  Before it can be put into context, there is the idea that your soul incarnates in human forms over and over and over again, and the whole purpose of this is so your soul can have these experiences and learn and grow from them.

Your soul is indestructible.  So Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita that you should not fear death,  or feel remorse for the dead,  or even look down upon killing,  for all of these things are a part of life and are to be experienced.  Truly they are very horrible things from our perspective,  but the "higher" perspective is that you are going to die anyway and this particular life is only a drop in the bucket.

In fact, the whole Bhagavad Gita is set before a huge battle, and the leader of one side is grieving because he realizes how futile and senseless the destruction before him is about to be,  and how many good people will die for no good reason.  Krishna suddenly appears in the form of his chariot driver,  and proceeds to explain to the leader that he should not grieve, but should go out to the battlefield as great leaders do,  and to cause as much bloodshed as he possibly can.  Krishna's point of view is elaborated upon throughout the rest of the text,  and it is a very deep and enlightening read.

I wonder what the significance of the one empty ray on the diamond's side is.

I have been reading a paradigm-shifting book by physicist William A. Tiller, and he proposes the physical and "etheric" worlds are separated by the speed of light. Everything below the speed of light is dense physical substance, and everything above the speed of light is "etheric" substance.  Approaching the speed of light theoretically requires an infinite amount of physical energy, and so is supposedly impossible and there is a sort of forbidden energy zone (without the right "vehicle" for transportation across it :) ) just as the shells of electron orbits have gaps around the nucleus of an atom. He ties this in to quantum physics and even solves where magnetic fields arise from without an electrical current being pre-existant: a particle dubbed the "magnon" that exists on the other side of the speed of light that corresponds to the electron as per Maxwell's Equations that relate the two forces of electricity and magnetism.  He also demonstrates a lot of human capability to generate small electrical currents and even more subtle energies that defy conventional classification but influence the electrical level, supposedly from a quantum level.

By the way this war is not between democrats and republicans. As I said before the war is between the greedy super powers (governments and followers) and their innocent people (civilians living the life they choose)

Pretty much the same situation as the French Revolution (wealthiest 5% owned about 90% of the country's wealth) except worse by the numbers,  and now they know to distract our slower brothers with the most trivial freaking petty arguments between two puppet parties.

Every time I hear anything political I want to puke.  Politic literally came from the greek words "poly" (many) and "tic(k)" (blood-sucking insect).  So, many blood-sucking insects.  It seems like things only make sense when you don't have your head up your butt in them already.  Who would've thought?

yes I agree, the democrat run congress and senate are evil and self serving.

Just thought I would give you the courtesy of letting you know that,  if a civil war does break out in the US,  'evil democrats' aren't going to be the target, because they aren't really the problem:  people like you are.  So I would be careful about preaching your Republican propaganda on the streets in those times, because most people have already had more than enough of it.  I can't imagine how many people must have supported Hitler up until the very day he was removed from power, but rest assured there are good odds that this is you.  :)

I haven't seen this movie yet but I've read the same thing and can't wait to see it.

I love movies that have deeper underlying symbolism to something relevant to our times, and especially from what you post, Dark Knight sounds like it takes to that idea hardcore.  Like I said, I haven't seen it, but a tall collapsing building is definitely a symbol, for several different metaphors.  The "falling tower" symbol has been around on Tarot cards for ages, and what it has always represented is uncannily similar to what our fallen towers (9/11) represent.  We even have two of them fall that were identical, as though they were esoteric twin pillars, representing dualities and particularly male/female dualities of knowledge.

I remember a quote from a preview I saw, too;  something encouraging like: "The night is just the darkness before the dawn."  Very relevant to our age, and a very uplifting message imo.

Andrew,

I came up with the same thing you did, except I used numbers to distinguish them instead of colors.  I thought I finally had it at first, too.  >.<

This is a bastard of a logic problem, lol.  I buy books of these things, though.  I love them.  They all relate to "real world" logic somehow and reveal some kind of truth.

12 balls:

Weigh 1:  Weigh 6 against 6.  One side will be heavier.

Weigh 2:  Divide the heavier side into 3 and 3 and weigh.  One side will again be heavier.

Weigh 3:  Take the 3 heavier balls, remove 1,  and weigh the remaining two.  If they balance, the one you removed was heavier.  If they don't balance, you still have your answer.
#275
I mostly agree with Stookie, except I'm probably a little more optimistic that major changes on a planetary scale are right around the corner.

All the answers will come naturally in time, and nature itself would be an excellent place to find yourself, mentally and spiritually if not physically.  In nature, with the right knowledge, you no longer have to depend on other people, you merely have to avoid them until things settle back down.  Surrounded by nothing but weeds and trees, you still have plenty of nutrition to survive indefinitely (pine needles have 5 times the vitamin C per gram that oranges do, for example, and pine needles are available all year long), but most people are ignorant of it and would starve to death anyway.  Some basic knowledge of edible plants and etc. in your area is probably needed, and knowing the basics of nutrition (carbs, fats, proteins, vitamins, where to get them) couldn't hurt.  You could also raise your own shelters, enough to keep you warm and dry at any given moment you may need it.  Even burying yourself in a pile of dirt is preferable than freezing to death, and in that particular situation, you know exactly what you would sooner do.

If you can become a survivalist in the sense that you know you can always provide yourself at least those two basic things (food and shelter), which nature itself readily provides to anyone aware of it, then you have nothing to fear anyway.  Everything else should be considered luxury in such hard times as we're considering.  Aim for mountains over low-lands or plains, and you will never have to consider flooding.  Also try to stay away from roads or where anyone would be intentionally wandering, looking to loot or steal, and you will never have to deal with violent confrontations.  This applies to any catastrophic disasters that bring down the fragile system we live in.
