Xanth is correct.    You will not like my answer but the best way to separate is to find out for yourself what works and what does not work.

There are signs when you have fully separated such as, you are in a different location or you can feel yourself moving away from your body.   When you cannot see just say I can see until you can see well.   It works for me.

When you hear buzzing sounds that is a sign that you can ap.
When your body feels light you can also ap regardless of the weak vibration.
When you are about to ap, do not think about your physical body as that will end it.

I realise we are all different.   We are all correct in what we say.   What works for one person may not work for another.   It is important for me to notice my body if it is feeling different, my breathing and how my mind feels.   That is how I ap.   When I notice that I am snoring I know I can get out of my body so I do.  That is one example.    Am I the only one that notices my body?

That is good to know.   He really is aping.   You are lucky as you can share things together.   I am not able to as my husband does not believe in ap.   He will not even try it.

Could it be possible that your husband is pretending to ap?    He has listened to you for two years and wants to get back at you.    Please do not take offense at what I am saying.    He could really be aping.   I am only guessing.   The reason I say this is because years ago I used to know someone.   I told him about my ap adventures.    Then he started telling me about his ap adventures.   He never knew ap existed.    I believed him and later on I found out that he lied about everything.

If you have a sensation of taking off then you are very close.   You have to make it happen.   Seeing lights flicker is also another sign that you are close to ap.

Lionheart is correct.   I like reading ap books but I do not believe everything I read.   I might find something that can give me good ideas.   It can be fun to read.   Sometimes I think it is junk so I do not read anymore where I think it is rubbish.    With ap no one is wrong or right as you cannot prove it.    Perhaps we should end the discussion here.    I would not want to cause arguments.    I am starting to regret writing this topic.   You will never get people to agree.    If you think ap is dangerous then you are entitled to think that.    If I thought ap was dangerous I would not ap.   I am not irritated with people who think ap is dangerous.    I have to accept people think differently and that is the way it will always be.

I have been practicing to ap early in the evening before sleep.   I would like to practice earlier but I am not able to as I go out to work.   I am getting close.   Soon I think I will be able to ap.    I have to keep practicing.

AAAAAAAA  I suppose you are right.   If you thought it was dangerous, it probably would be.   A lot of awful things would happen.   You may not feel any pain but depending on your thoughts you could feel pain.   When you wake up you would find everything would be back to normal.   The awful things would be gone. 

urshebear  I think the same as you.   If you dwell on the negative that can encourage bad things to happen.   I know someone who complains about everything.    She has a lot of bad things that happen and bad things seems to be attracted to her.   My husband and mother did not agree with me when I talked to them about it.   
I have never heard of people being possessed.   I do not believe people can be possessed but I suppose anything is possible.   There is a lot about the unknown that we do not know about.

Lionheart is correct.   You can ap anytime of the day.   I have ap late in the afternoon without any sleep.   I do not seem to be able to do it now.   I must get back into practice again.

Experiment and see what works for you.   Keep trying different things.   When something does not work, try and work out why it did not work.    You are best person to try to figure it out.    That is how I learnt.   You could try to reach out to the colours by using your spiritual arms.    You could do an ap technique.   You could imagine that you are at a park and you are seeing colours.

What can happen if you think it is dangerous?   It would be like a nightmare.   There are a lot of people that have nightmares or bad dreams and they all wake up.   They are not hurt.    Their experience would not be pleasant but nothing bad happened to them.   I have never heard of any harm that someone had from a bad dream or nightmare.

Hi all, do you find this a bit irritating.   On another forum someone says astral projection is dangerous.  I am learning to ignore it and forget about it.   If they want to think it is dangerous I will let them think that.   I tell people that I have good ap experiences and there is nothing to fear.   If they want to listen to me then that is good.   If they do not want to then that is their problem.

Hi all, I have been thinking about my question and an answer came to me this morning.    When my eyes are closed I occasionally see things and my mind is not relaxed.   What I mean by relaxed is my mind is relaxed but it becomes extremely relaxed.   I cannot explain it better than that.   This is good news for me because now I know that I have to be aware that I might see things as well.   I cannot be too focused on what my mind is feeling otherwise I can miss not doing the ap.

Hi all, last two mornings my mind felt relaxed.   I thought I did not ap but I did.   It was frustrating.   This morning I do not think I got any ap signs.   I fell asleep for about a minute then I woke up.   I thought if I was asleep I can ap so I did.   I got out of my body.    I could not see much and I was trying to get myself aware.   I came back into myself and I woke up.    Next time I am going to get myself to be see first.   Then I will focus on something.   It comes down to practice and more practice.   It can get frustrating.   I must really want to ap because I am making a big effort trying.    I am now starting to look at ap a bit like a jigsaw puzzle.    I have to see what works and what does not work.

Hi all, when your eyes are closed and you start seeing things as you know that is a sign you can ap.   When that happens does your mind feel more relaxed than normal?    The reason I am asking is because I do not think my mind always relaxes.    Therefore I can get no signs and fall asleep.   If this is the case I will have to be more alert and pay attention and notice when my mind starts dreaming.   Thanks for your reples

Meditate then do an ap technique.   If it does not work, keep practicing.

I have never phased as I have my way of doing things.   I do not know what phasing is.   You were out of your body so you did not need to ap.   You could have been half out of your body.   You just had to move yourself.    You could have moved your arms and fly somewhere.   You could move your arms and imagine that you were swimming or anything else.   When you are sitting up, you are in a very good position to move.   Just believe you can do it.   If you mess it up then you will learn from the experience.

The upright feeling is you are succeeding.  It sounds like you did ap but you have to trust yourself that you did it.   Next time it happens, try to move away spiritually.   It is common not to be able to see.   When you cannot see, just say, I can see.   It works.   If it does not work that well, keep saying it until you can see perfectly.

 EscapeVelocity gave you good advice.   The good thing is you keep trying different things.   That is all we can do is to keep trying.   You said you tried to intently see your living room.   Perhaps that is where you went wrong.   You may not have done anything wrong.   I am only guessing.   If you were trying hard to see your living room  that could put a strain and cause you not to ap.   When I imagine something I do it gently.   I usually do not see the picture that well as my visual skills is not very good but it does not matter.   It still works.   The other possibility is if you were thinking of your physical body and that can send you back into yourself again.   It happens to me a lot.   I do not try to think of my body but at the back of my mind I know I am out of my body.   I am learning not to do that.   The other possibility is you have passed the time limit of ap sensation and it will not work.   Keep trying to ap because sometimes it still works.   As the rolling method and grabbing a rope does not work, I would keep trying to see your living room.   You could imagine other things if that does not work, such as swimming, playing golf, flying, at the beach etc.    The advantage of those activities is you are not using your astral arms or legs.   You go out instantly.

Hi all, this morning I noticed my breathing and my mind was relaxed.   I knew I could ap.   I relaxed my whole body and I got out of my physical body.   I am trying to use intention so I can get to a place.   I went through a wall but I got afraid and that sent me back into my body again.  I do not know why I got afraid.  I usually am not afraid.   I noticed a few times I fell asleep.   To stop that from happening I say to myself during the day, concentrate and ap   It helps enormously  but I have to keep saying it otherwise I end up falling asleep.   I am starting to lucid dream.   I was aware that I was flying and I could feel the breeze.   It was a wonderful.    I still have a lot to learn.   I want to improve my ap experiences and the only way to do that is to practice.    Is anyone trying to improve their experiences?   I am just curious.
