Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Pain ... !

Opiate,

I am not here to prove anything to anyone, merely to make suggestions which you with your infinite wisdom can discern and determine whether it is something that corresponds with your beliefs.  You need to listen to the dictates of your own heart and if you decide to research Reiki then I encourage you to do so.  If you feel you can gain no benefit from a chiropractor, then so be it. I have no personal investment in your pain or well being, I am only telling you of a technique that has worked for me and my family.  You asked for suggestions and I gave you my input based on my experience.  That's all.

Xander,

A Course in Miracles states, "To have all, give all."  This may seem simplistic, however, in my life, I have found it to be a universal truth.  If you want love, be that love to someone else, express your love to people who need to be loved. Visit an old folks home and spend time talking to someone who is lonely, become a "big brother" volunteer at the YMCA or start a program for disadvantaged kids, Go to the hospital and visit patients who are captive yet have no visitors... there are many ways you can express love to others.  This works in all areas, which is why people promote the virtues of tithing.  When people tithe, they are giving money to a wotthwhile cause in their hearts (this is not limited to churches, it can be any organization you believe in)  The more you extend yourself in the area you desire to enhance, the more your effort will be rewarded.  Give a little and you will get a little.  Give until you feel you can give no more, and you will feel like the most loved person on the face of the planet.  I am not well versed in the bible, however, there is a verse in there that says something likr, (and I'm paraphrasing here... I'm sure someone in these forums can name this verse)

Whatever you want, give that thing to others, by the measure in which you give, you will then receive, shaken down, stirred, multiplied and poured forth unto you. (or something like that)

There are many unexplainable things from the scientific point of view.  That does not stop many (particularly in these forums) from believing that Science does not have all the answers.  I know many people (including my daughter and myself) who have had their pain either partially or completely releived by using a chiropractor.  Another suggestion is to try a Reiki practitioner.  I am a Reiki Master and I know the benefits of Reiki can be wonderful.  If you know nothing about reiki, do a google search.  No manipulation of the spine, just channeled healing to allow you to tap into the Universal Life Force Energy of healing which allows your body to dictate where the energy is needed.

Fallnangel,

I menat that they all worship the same God by that statement... and believe in very much the same stories or accounts which were initially described in the Torah, then later the Bible... sorry about the miscommunication, I can see that I didn't exactly express myself very clearly.

Please visit the following link:
http://www.india-overland.com/exploringislam1.html

Here is an excerpt from that article

"Islam is an ancient religion with profound historical and theological ties to Judaism and Christianity. All three religions worship the same God, acknowledge large parts of the same Bible and revere Adam, Noah, Abraham and Moses. And, as do Christians, Muslims regard Jesus as the messiah.
In fact, Islam teaches that it represents the modern mainstream of a primordial, monotheistic religion that began with the earliest humans. Over millennia, the religion took form with the early Jewish prophets, was modified significantly by Jesus and finally shaped by Muhammad, the final prophet, who died in 632."

In an attempt to break it down to the basics... my understanding of the topic is thus:

The Muslim religion is based in the Judeo/Christian tradition.

Like the Jewish Tradition, Muslims eat Kosher and reject the images of Christ as Idolatry.

Prayer 5 times a day facing Mecca establishes 5 times a day that the Muslim life is devoted to God.

Also, the name Allah is translated to be something like, "The One and Only, The Eternal" similar to the description of God in Judeo/Christian tradition.

Now I need to get out my book of Islamic Law and Constitution to refresh my memory on the rest.[:)]

Go to a chiropractor.  My daughter at 2 years old was constantly complaining of back pain and I finally took her to a chiropractor.  She feels fine now.

So are you suggesting that with the occurrence of the big bang, that the burst sent out all matter at an equal velocity  in order to create a seemingly 2 dimensional surface (like the surface of a balloon?)  The outer layer of the earths surface is often displayed in a 2 dimensional format... called maps.  Yet, a satellite or rocket can move perpendicular to the earths surface.

I was under the impression that in space, one could move omnidirectionally, like the light emitted from a light bulb.

It'n not so much the outside of the balloon that baffles me but that there is nothing on the inside... or more simply put, to quote one of mt friends favorite quotes;

"The Big Bang happens, is happening, and will happen."

perhaps it is finite... in a way.  If you were an ant and walking on the surface of a balloon, you could travel infinitely far... in circles.

This is very interesting.  The condition of "coma" is quite magical yet mysterious.  Well my personal perspective is that those in coma are suspended between the Astral and Physical.  I believe those in coma are aware of the outer physical world....mentally, but the body is operating on a different frequency.  I think mentally, one continues to grow, observe, have emotions and opinions about what they hear in the outside world, but the physical body is put into a state of rest and repair.  I think it is truly Divine Intervention that when the physical vehicle, which carries our spirit, is in need of repair it will be placed in this "sleep" mode until things are complete.

I also believe that we have a tendency to view things and assume the obvious.  We might view one in a coma and assume that the coma takes place because there is a message for the specific individual.  That would be the obvious.  But I also believe that a "coma" activates change not only in the life of the patient, but also in the lives of those connected to that person.

I have come to believe that in a case where one's lessons in their lifetime may be about receiving, if that is not addressed by one's own free will, their life will be designed in a way to bring about that lesson.  Remember we all have agreements to complete specific lesson's in our physical lifetime.  Our lives and its situations come to us to
assist us in completing those lesson's.   If one does not come to
balance the specific ship of "giving and receiving", they will come to a place of "coma" where "care" of the soul and body must be accepted. Because I  am in direct observation of a coma patient, I have come to truly be present and fascinated by this condition.

I also had a friend who was in a coma for 10 days.  She claims she rested in absolute peace and serenity.  She was aware of the outer world yet had no desire to leave this altered peaceful state.  She said it was not at all difficult emotionally or physically.  She went on to say that the most painful part of her coma was being catapulted back into her sick body. Hope that shed a wee bit of light on how I have come to view coma.

To put a different spin on it...

Sylvia Browne claims that Satan or Lucifer never actually fell from grace.  That he is Gods highest Angel (still) and watches over those souls who have completely cut God out of their consciousness.  She claims that when we die, most of us go through the tunnel (everyone on this board would be one of these beings because all of us care enough to explore our own development and our relationship with each other) The others, who are in Lucifers charge go through what is called the "Left Door" where they do not experience the light and bliss, they just reincarnate and have to go through anothe lifetime until they can learn to see a glimmer of light.  God entrusted Lucifer to watch over these souls, to keep and watch over them because they are so far removed from experiencing God.  They do not know how to give or express love and therefore can not hear the voice of God or love, they live in fear and hear only the voice of their own ego's and their fear (identification of their weaknesses and acted upon in forms of aggression)examples of such people would be Hitler, Bin Laden and the like who have no human compassion and gain power by force, death and destruction.

If this account is true and it is only one persons opinion, then the idea of Lucifer as a dark entity loses its fear factor.  Christ and Lucifer each have their roles in the brotherhood and the love of God flows through both.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Coma Patients?

This is an abbreviated account of a crisis my friends family found themselves in... Her father has always been the kind of guy who is very caring yet emotionally quiet, not the most touchy feely guy in the world... he has always taken care of everybody and we feel (my friend and I) that this is his time to be nurtured.

My friend is the person in her family who is in charge of his physical body... if he needs to be moved to another location, if he seems to be experiencing discomfort, she's the one who makes sure that it is taken care of.  This correspondence relates to a time a couple of months ago when they thought he was going to die.  His limbs had all turned purple and the doctors had called them all in to say their last goodbyes because they could not explain what was happening, however, it seemed as if he was failing.

While they were all standing there, the color and the look of his condition dramatically changed.  My friend and everyone else in the room feel that hee had called them all together to appreciate each other as sort of a Thank You for each claiming their individual roles in his growth process.

Although he was not communicating with them physically, he certainly got his point across.  I have chosen not to edit the letter too much, I merely took out the personal references and thought someone might gain some insight from my friends words.

--Lighthouse
-------------------------------

Today started off with a flurry of unexplained incidents.  Everyone is moved into place.  None of us sure why or how but we are all called into this space together [the hospital room].

[The nurse] and I share a conversation regarding the lack of circulation in dad's left hand and foot.  Our earlier conversation brings to us an awareness but at this time not an urgency.  A few hours later, [the nurse] calls to suggest that I come up, just in case this is the day God calls dad home.  I ask her to say nothing to my mother who was visiting but to tell her that I would be on my way, and to wait for me.

As I step into dad's room I go to check on the concerns discussed earlier.  He appears alert, his skin has a good tone and I did notice myself the  cold purplish red hands and foot.  I am puzzled but not alarmed.  Mom comments how cold one gets when not fed, but she too does not appear to be alarmed.

[The Nurse] confirms that stats are good.  Blood Pressure, sodium levels, oxygen etc.  All good.  Family starts to arrive.  Sharing our thoughts, love and checking in with ourselves to get a feel of our own personal sense of dad's condition. We vote hands down that it isn't what it seems. Not minimizing [the nurse's] concern, but rather realizing that we are all being brought to the undercurrent of this place where dad rests.

This energy of "unity" begins to form amongst children, wife, nurses, aids, [and others].  I didn't miss the dynamics of what was happening.  The power of Divine Intervention comes so quietly we almost miss it.

All of us, brought to this place by a man in a coma.  To understand "hope", to realize the importance of "teamwork", to care, to embrace and to work together towards a solution, to lift this situation above our heads and carry it from point A to point B.  This was a time to see the value of ourselves.  The importance of our position in this chapter of dad's life.  No line separated us as family.  All for one, and one for all.  For this brief time, he belonged to all of us. For this moment a small miracle.  We were all called into this space to appreciate each other. To embrace our togetherness.  To validate our importance as human beings.

No it wasn't just another day at the [hospital].  It was a day that dad pulled us all together to honor us all for our love and committment to his process.  A deeper appreciation for life and for living.  To show us that things are not always what they seem.  That we must look to the left or the right in order to find our way through it. To each of us, it will mean something different, but when applied to our personal lives, we will each know what the situation brings to us on a more deeper level.

Each of our lives reflect a "coat of many colors". Each beautiful face that wanders in becomes a shimmery silk thread that is woven into our lives.  Each day our coat becomes more beautiful, rich and warm.  Each thread strengthens our coat further, allowing us to weather whatever comes our way.  Allowing us to feel safe, warm and protected.

Today we each became a thread, a beautiful silk thread in the coat of each other.  Today we became stronger, more beautiful, and our lives much richer.  Our purpose here has divine meaning.  I do not question the challenges, the miracles nor the temporary setbacks.  We are part of a bigger plan.  Somebody up there believes we are capable of conquering what some may feel is impossible, and we do.

My hope is that all came to feel their own worth today.  That you valued your participation in whatever this was that unfolded itself to us. That each walked away feeling good about themselves, loved and appreciated.  If anyone left this day feeling less than that, then come and see me, and I will bring to you, that reality.

Recognize your calling to care for people.  You are exactly where you need to be in life.  Not by luck, by fluke or by chance, but because you are called by a higher power to do so.  Because you are capable and because your lives need to be blessed.  For it is in giving of ourselves that we receive.

From me to you, may your achievements be many, and your blessings be abundant.  Thank your for the contribution each and everyone of you make by choice.  In doing so, you bring forth a goodness onto yourself.

I have a great friend who's father has been in a coma for a year and he certainly is conscious, however, he can not express or communcicate to his family through normal means of communication (talking.)  However, he is communicating with them (I think she has 5 siblings) I will dig through my email and relay an account of something that happened in her words...

Fallenangel,

Personally, I am obsessed with World religions, in my personal library, I have books ranging from Islamic Law and Constitution to several books on the Kabbalah to the Baghavadgita to the Tao te Ching to A Course in Miracles and last year I purchased my first Bible in order to use it as a reference for a personal development book I am writing.

The world as we see it is merely a reflection of ourselves so you interpret my ideas according to your own personal filter... living in the bible belt, I can see why you see mainly christianity in my posts.  Since that is my upbringing, my point of reference is from that tradition and therefore this makes sense.  My personal philosophy may sound Christian to you and indeed there are some Christian elements to my position, however, I have also incorporated parts of everything I have ever studied into my personal philosophy and therefore feel that my viewpoint is much more well rounded than that of the Christian church(es).  However, as you are perfectly well aware, to determine the depth and breadth of ones knowledge based on a few posts is a very limiting idea. [;)]

I had rejected Christianity in my 20's  because it made no sense to me so I delved into the study of everything but...  I am now a student of A Course in Miracles which is Christian in basis, however, it encourages and promotes self-analysis instead of listening to the ideas of another spewed at a pulpit.

Personally, I feel we are all Divine beings...  that the reason we are here is to ultimately reunite with each other and experience the high of Cosmic bliss or Consciousness.  To reject the idea of separation and to understand ourselves as God...  Perhaps this sounds like a Christian idea to you, if so... then so be it.  I have come to embrace all ways of light as a means for us to understand ourselves and our divinity.

The reason I have chosen to engage in the Agnostic/Atheistic strand is to have my own thoughts challenged and come to a better understanding of my own personal development.  Additionally, I invite you to go to my profile and check out my website to gain a better understanding of my personal philosophy.

Fallenangel,

I agree with you.  However, we all come from somewhere and have childhoods.  Many people have been scarred by their upbringing and are trying to find themselves.  The point of reference in the West is mainly from the Judeo/Christian viewpoint.  This is not to say that we must all explore these traditions relating to Agnosticism & Atheism, however, as someone else pointed out earlier in this strand, he was raised by a Baptist Preacher... I will use this as an example since it is a part of this strand... please understand I do not know this person so I will present a hypothetical observation of what I imagine the scenario may have been in this persons childhood and where this person may have felt separate and unloved... it may have no resemblance to the reality of his childhood.

Undoubtedly, this tradition was shoved down his throat and he was told or made to feel guilty and that by having his own opinions and choosing not to accept God in the way his father demanded, he was rejecting Gods love or separating himself from the love of God.  Children see their parents as the Godhead... not adolescents but little children.  This is where we formulate our basic foundations of our place in the world.  After a while, the discomfort he felt by carrying around this pain came to a point where he had to make a personal decision relating to honoring himself as an individual and he rejected the experiences of his past... then turned to Agnosticism.  In my opinion, the words Love, God and the Universe are all synonomous, therefore, any path one chooses to follow is the right path for him/herself.  I feel there is little if any distinction amongst the three.  Because of my protestant upbringing, I generally tend to use the term God.  ... but I digress.

Many people reject the religion of their childhoods and turn to a period of constant evolution in discovering who they are.  The point of reference though is always their own experience... something that they can not separate themselves from.  This is why in this strand, you will see Agnosticism and Atheism discussed hand and hand with Christianity.  Because the bulk of expereince of many is that of the major western traditions.  Most people in the western world were just not brought up as Druids, Wiccans, Zoroastrians, and Hindus... as my American born Indian husband likes to say, "There were not too many Hindu Temples in Allentown, PA."

"The only way in which a human being can make some approach to knowing the whole of a subject is by hearing about it by persons of every variety of opinion and studying all modes in which it can be looked at by every character of mind.  No wise man ever acquired his wisdom in any mode but this." --John Stuart Mill

This is why you will see opposing viewpoints in other forums... so that people can learn and grow in order to expand their own wisdom by gaining feedback and being challenged by the insights of others.

One more thing:
--------------
Definition:
repent - Greek  /metanoeo/
Meaning: to change one's mind, to change one's mind for the better, heartily to amend with abhorrence of one's past sins
-----------------
The original language of the bible was Greek.

I'm sure many of you are aware, however for those of you who are not, here's a little tidbit for you to chew on:
___________
Definition:
sin - Greek /hamartia/
Meaning: identical to Greek /hamartano/ : to be without a share in, to miss the mark, to err, to be mistaken, to miss or wander from the path of uprightness and honor.
_____________________

In other words, the word Sin means to make a mistake, to miss the mark... mistakes can be corrected... or not, who cares, it's just a mistake.  They need not be the source of guilt and damnation for all eternity.

I happen to be a metaphysical/spiritual "pipe smoker" as my husband likes to put it.  As far as Christianity is concerned during the time of Constantine and the crusades, thousands and thousands of accounts of the life of Christ were confiscated and destroyed in order to give the church more power and stamp out the earth centered religions (Paganism.)  Additiobnally, Christ had mystical teachings too which were excluded from the bible.  A good source to research this information would be in the Gnostic Gospels.  Elane Pagels gives a great summary in her book of the same title "The Gnostic Gospels" which talks about additional accounts of the teachings of Christ that were found in the Nag Hammadi desert, written in Coptic and transcribed by monks over about a half dozen centuries then hidden in the caves of the Nag Hammadi desert during the crusades.  The entire Nag Hammadi library has been translated and is available on Amazon..  the best translation is the James Robinson edition.

My point in this long winded (or long written to be precise) is that unfortunately Christianity has been severely distorted from the time of Christ and of course the church and many Christians will disagree with me.  I am one of those rare few who believes in the teachings of Christ and like someone else who posted, I also tell people I don't believe in Sin and I don't believe in death... try that one next time [;)]. Even though I believe in the teachings of Christ, I too believe that God dwells within each of us... it is expressed in our intelligence, our creativity and our ability to grow and learn.

Ultimately, I feel that we must all follow the dictates of our own hearts relating to all beliefs and decisions we make.  If we make decisions based on love (which has also been described as the essence of God) we can do no wrong.  To live according to the vicarious dictates of another (like a Baptist preacher father)not only keeps you from experiencing true happiness, but it will ultimately cheat you and the rest of the world of your power and grace.

Additionally, i generally have an aversion to fiction however, about 30 people have told me to read the "Da Vinci Code" which I bought on Saturday and have gotten half way through it.  It summarizes very succinctly in a fiction format many of the things that the church has done in order to gain power over people.  the research for this book is amazing and the author does a stupendous job of showing the reader the discraceful things that the church has done in the name of God.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Channeling Vs. Telepathy
December 09, 2003, 14:57:09
Although I know nothing of channeling or communicating with entities that are not earth bound, I have a few stories to share on this topic.  I am very intrigued with the workings of the mind and recently I have had a new obsession with telepathic experience and something known in science as the Morphogenetic Field. This Field is also referred to in spiritual circles as the Transcendental Field or the Unified Field. All of these are just different terms for the same thing, the ways our minds link or otherwise known as Telepathic experience.

I have had several experiences within the past 6 months which have led me to conclude independently through my own experience that we are all indeed connected through our minds and can experience and feel what others are thinking.

This first happened after contacting an old friend. We had not been in contact for several years then one day I decided to look him up on the internet. Over the years, I would think about him and sometimes had a hard time getting him out of my thoughts which led me to try to find him several times. After finally successfully tracking him down and getting in touch, I could physically feel his presence around me on a regular basis even though he lives about 400 miles away. I later realized that this was because he was thinking about me.

It also happened after having a conversation with another friend who lives several hundred miles away. I went to bed that night and hadn't given the conversation a second thought. I woke up around 1:00 because my husband was on the computer and not in bed. I have a hard time sleeping when he is not there. However, the reason I could not get back to sleep was because I was picking up on my friends thoughts. I was having thoughts about our conversation but it was almost as if it were the thoughts of my friend, from his point of view. finally after about an hour, I was finally able to get back to sleep, only to wake up in the morning and find a long letter in my inbox relating to the exact thing I had been thinking and almost obsessing about the night before.

The third time it happened, my husband went for a walk in the early morning. After he was gone for about 30 minutes or so, I felt this strong emotional surge come over me and was in serious need of a big hug. When he got home, he asked me if I was calling him back (I denied it at the time because I was a bit freaked out that he could pick up on my thoughts like that) but that is exactly what I was doing.

New thought states that we all share the same mind (the mind of God) and given the right circumstances, we can all share telepathic communication whenever we want as long as we have a connection with the sender/receiver.  Also, there has been some scientific research relating to the Morphogenetic field... just do a google search to find out more or go to www.sheldrake.org.  Sheldrake is a modern scientist who is currently obsessed with this.
