I feel sorry for you if that is what you think.

And besides it is not your place to judge ANYONE.

Let's just entertain the idea for a moment that you are right.  Then we will be judged by GOD for our actions not you.  What you think of the people on this forum will have no bearing on GOD's judgement.  To think so is placing your judgement above God's.  And that my friend is a sin.  As the "good" book tells us time and time again, no one is above God.

So please if you wish to have intellictual discussion on the topic on why you believe then fine.  If not, take your "holier than thou" attitude and go some place else.

**********************************
Please note.  Although I had many thing that this message wished to convey I have changed my mind and will only leave the above section.  It will most likely save me some explaining down the road.

Personally I don't think that it's totally impossible to see the dead when you are awake.  I believe this because of my own personal experiences.  I don't see full representations like you suggest, but I see shadows or white forms.  The only thing I have ever seen that loked solid was a pair of legs, but I was viewing them from underneith a piece of equipment at work, so I don't know if they were attatched to anything.

So yah, I do think it is possible to see entire forms.  I know I wouldn't want to see people who are all mangled though.  I have enough problems with what I get.  However I really on't think it is all that common for a person to see full forms.  But there are plenty of people who have seen ghosts at some point in time.

I do fully agree that there are a lot of fakes out there.  Unforntunatly these people feel the need to be special so they make things up, or they are trying to take advantage of you some how.  Some of them are really easy to spot though, you just have to look for inconsistancies in what they say.  They will usually give themselves away.

A good way to deal with these people is to simply tell them you honestly don't believe them and why.  After this you wait to see how they react.  Most people who are lying will take offense because you don't believe them.  This being that thier whole point in telling you the story was to get them interested in what they had to say and that you needed to hear it.  When they feel they are no longer in control of the conversation they will start to become irritaited.  They get the you have to believe me attitude.

Me personally I don't care if some one believes what I say or not.  The experience was mine after all and I will most likely never be able to put into the correct words to fully describe it.  If it was absolutely imparative that you believed it then you would have had the experience yourself.

I am O+.....

Are you maybe looking for some to "have" for dinner?
Or is it just a quick "bite" for lunch?

Has anybody else gotten an E-mail from some one claiming to be a relative of some gov't official, or a head of some obscure gov't agency in Nigeria?  They continue on saying that they have a large sum of money, usually $10 to $100 Million USD, that they want to get out of the country and they need your help.  The money is convienently sittingin an account waiting to be transferred to a buisness that you own.  They usually offer a 10 to 20 percent cut of the funds saying they will set up an account in your name.  All you have to do is send them a buisness name, adress, telephone, and fax number so they can get everything done.

The sender e-mail address is never the same as the return to or the one listed in the e-mail itself.  I've checked just for giggles of it.  A couple of the so called e-mail providers didn't even exist.  They often do list a phone number for you to call but it's usually an over seas number, unless you live in Nigeria.

I have never followed through with this but I know how the sacm works.  After the bank account has set up in you name they will send you a link so you can look at it.  Of course it is all totally fake and the bank doesn't exist or the page you are looking at isn't a part of a bank that does exist.  It's al made for YOUR viewing pleasure.

This is followed up by them asking for anywhere from a few hundered to a few thousand dollars so the money can be freed from the account.  You send the money to the "bank" and suddenly every thing dissapears.  Imagine that.

Logically no bank anywhere is going to charge you an up front fee for closing an account.  If they are so inclined to charge you a fee they would remove it from the funds in the account not have you give them money to get yours.

The e-mail itself is written rather well, sighting all kinds kinds of gov't turmoil and listing various gov't official and such.  I've never checked to see if any of the name given were real or not, but how do I know whats going on or living in Nigeria.  Besides I don't think any gov't would use such an unscure format as e-mail for an incredibly sensative operation.  I don't know how it works in Nigeria but in the states that kind of money laundering will get you put in a federal prision.

"Don't drop the soap!"

And don't believe any e-mails like that, no matter what country they claim to be from.

Well said James.

In every belief system there will always be a "hard liner".  Even if thier belief is accepting of others and what others believe they do there best to change how people think to be more in line with what they say is so.  They may be accepting but the still believe that thier path is the true one and every one else must fall in line or be left behind.

Anyhow as far as dream pain.  I have gone through the emotional pain and elations created by dreams.  However I have also gone through some pretty intense physical pain also because of dreams.  The problem I have with that is that some of it was extreamly bad but I kept on living anyhow.  I have been shot, stabbed, burned, crushed, and crumpled.  None of which I suggest going through.

Knowing what it is like to recieve a multitude of injuries in the real world I can say the comparison between the two is dead on.  The only one I am not sure about is being shot.  I haven't actually been through that.  I looking to avoid it really.  In my dreams the pain is unbarable.  In one dream I walked around for 3 days with a hole in my stomach. Not to much fun.

Thankfully though all that has gone away.  As well as some of the better feelings that resulted from dreams.  It will pass as you become more aquainted with the controling of ones self in dreams.

There are only two things that I see are shaping the New Age Philosophy into a form of religion.

1.  The blind faith aspect that you mentioned.  Someone sees how "we" do things and then tries to emulate that in hopes of becoming more enlightened..[;)]

2.  I think that this is more of a factor than the first.  There are getting to be more and more ideas that are being considered common truths.  There are two ways that this happens, the first being that enough people have had a certain type of experience and shared it and it becomes accepted as real or possible for everyone.  The second thing that causes this is basically the first one again but because so many people have had the experience and have shared it, there are now people who have not had the experience but accept that it is real based on the facts provided by others.

But isn't that blind faith?  No not really.  I say that because it took a certain amount of convincing.  IE..X amount of people had to have the same experience before it was believed.  Also learning of some thing in this way is not taking the idea of just one or two people but rather taking to the time to listen to several and drawing your own conlusion based on that information.

Unfortunately us "New Agers" as a whole are still in the dark just as everyone else.  This is because although there are several common ideas or truths, there are a hundred times more ideas on the correct path to these truths.  As far as religions go the New Age Philosophy has more varying sects than any or perhaps all other religions combined.  In all actuallity it seems to be very difficult to get more than five "new agers" to agree on a common path to an idea or truth.

On a side note I would just like to mention that I am getting along awsomely with my ego work.  I happen to think that I am perfect and it agrees. [;)]

Reading in a dream is often considered impossible because, and excuse me I don't know the specifics, reading and dreaming come from opposite sides of the brain.  However in my own experiences when I am lucid in a dream there are certain things that I can read but not every thing.  Usually the reading is reduced down the most simple of phrases or words like that which is often posted on signs.  I have not experienced words changing when I am able to read.  There have been other times when I have picked up a news paper in a dream and been able to read the headline but not the articles.  Although I would get an impression of what they said.

It is possible that while lucid dreaming the logical side of the brain since active allows you to read.  I would wager that the amount you could read would be dependant on the level of clarity.  This also lends to the idea that the words when re-read changed, indicating a certain level of lucidity but with little control or lack of being able to maintain certain aspects.

Do you lucid dream?  Is it some thing you are working towards?

It's as clear as mud.  How did I miss that one?

It's really just all gibberish isn't it?

Yeah I remember that thred.  But I could not locate it.  However the information provided by that link PeacefulWarrior gave cover pretty much everything that was mentioned on that topic...it kinda would have been nice to have that one then.[;)]

I would not worry about it too much unless it seems like there is a lot.  Also it would be a good idea to mention it to your eye doctor the next time you go.  As stated above it tends to happen more when you get older but if you think its a probelm now then you should have it looked at.

I don't know.  Although I don't think that any of us will ever see it happen, I have always hoped that technology would eventually free us to explore the things that our current mundane lives do not have time for.  The Star Trek utopia has always apealed to me.

Wow, cainam_nazier, you are only 26? I thought you were much older. I guess you just come off as mature and wise.

You have no idea how many times I have heard that.  This ever since I was 16 or so people alway thought I was about 5 to 10 years older.  In a way I take that as a compliment as I do not project the "inexperiences" often asociated with my age group, and I thank you.  However the idea of being older than I am is a troubling one if nothing else.  [;)]

You can't write?? Your posts are always well written. Maybe you are just too hard on yourself. Maybe you just need to discipline yourself to stay committed to whatever it is you want to write, if that is what you want to do.

I think that is more the case, a matter of commetment.  The larger problem with the writing is the continuous re-witing, re-formatting, and so on that I go through just to get a thought down on paper.  At times even in this format it takes me some time to get simple ideas accross because of this.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / A Learning Style Survey
August 12, 2003, 21:42:03
Note:  I only find this half correct.  Often durring school I would just listen to the history lesson while say doing my math homework...If I could get away with it.

The results of David Rogalski's learning inventory are:
Visual/Nonverbal 34 Visual/Verbal 24 Auditory 26 Kinesthetic 36

Your primary learning style is:

The Tactile/ Kinesthetic Learning Style

You learn best when physically engaged in a "hands on" activity. In the classroom, you benefit from a lab setting where you can manipulate materials to learn new information. You learn best when you can be physically active in the learning environment. You benefit from instructors who encourage in-class demonstrations, "hands on" student learning experiences, and field work outside the classroom.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Knowlege of the future?
August 12, 2003, 09:42:11
I fully believe that seeing the future is possible.  However I do not think that it is always possible to change what is seen, at least not fully.  You can really only change how it effects you personally.  There are certain events that are seemingly destine to happen regardless of what any one does about them.  Seeing such events allows you only two options.  YOu can help bring it about or you can try to lessen the impacts of it, however the event will still take place.

Of course too it does depend on how much information you get and just how far you are will to go to change what you have seen.

Syko Dragon,

I fully agree.  And I have no problems at all when just screwing around with friends, or when need be stepping between them.  But to respond honestly, there have been, given the circumstances and those involved where I truely wanted to cause harm.  This on top of knowing what I could do to the person scared me.  And I questioned, that had it come to it, would I have been able to control the desire to inflict harm?  AT that point in time my thought was not of protecting the others involved, but seriously injuring the cause of the problem.

Yes it will look much like a star does before it goes super nova.  It has a sudden increase in size and then proceeds to colapse in on itself.  I've heard it's really a spectactular sight.

Can I watch?  [;)]

Welcome to Astral Chat! / WHAT DO YOU DO ?
August 12, 2003, 08:31:04
I am curretly unemployed...and it's great..and it's of my own doing.  As in I quit because....well because I felt like it.  It is time for the big life change.  Gee...mid-life crisis at 26...what will I do when I am 45?

Before that I was a Stationary Engineer.  Sounds fancy but I was really just a minatenance guy.  With the small exemption that the job function was also taking care of extreamly larger versions of your AC (chiller/air handlers) and Water Heater (boilers).

I never went to collage but I have been wanting to go back for a while now.  I just might do that after I move.

I only wish I could draw better...actually at all.  I wish I could paint or draw some of the images that I get some times.  That would be cool.

I also like to play guitar, however after 10 years of trying I am, well, still trying.

I enjoy writing and have a few ideas for books or stories but lack a certain ability to get the ideas out on paper. I write, stop, forget, re-write..ect...So it takes me forever to finish a thought on one subject. I am also in the process of putting together a news letter on metaphysics, but my ability, or inability to write is also getting in the way.

Okay well I think I will stop now.

It is possible that a martial arts can change a person in that manner.  However it is possible anything to change a person like thing: school, religion, TV, computers, ect.   I would look more heavily on the how and who.  By that I mean you must look at the teacher and how he/she is teaching.  This has a greater influence than the style itself.

I will admite that I have been changed considerably by under going martial arts training.  However for me it was not so much the school itself or so much what I was taught.  It was the conflict that was created in me.

I am a peacable person.  I avoid, when possible,  physical conflict with others if the intent is to do harm.  But I really enjoy contact sports which is one of the reasons I got into martial arts.  I also got into martial arts for the self control factor, the control of mind over body.  Martial arts pushes this concept to the limits.

But now things are different.  I no longer just avoid physical conflict... I have become afraid of it.  The fear is not over what would happen to me as one might expect.  The fear is what I might do to the other person when the training kicks in.  Would I be able to control the reflex actions when in a hightened emotional state?  Would I want to at that time?  Would I know just how far to take the it?  Would I be able to stop?

Because of what I learned I know that I am fully capable of seriously injuring or even killing another person in melee or unarmed combat.  This in itself bothers me.  The average person believes they know how....fragile the human body can be.  But honestly until some one shows you just what you can do to another person, the average individual doesn't have a clue how easy it is to.....dismantle a person.

Time is only relative to the idividual or the grop perspective.  However one individual or groups perspective of time can differ from anothers.  So using this as a basis can we even say that time exists?

Also if time is truely infinite, meaning that it is infinitely large and infinitely small at the same time, can it exist?

Only that which has a desernable begining or end is can truely exist from our own perspective.

Since time has neither, it can not exist.
#472
Jilola,

Yes the physical world dismisses the theory rather quickly, however the theory itself is some what sound and has never truely been explained.

However, after reading the article by Lynds I think I can sum things up a little better than I did before.

First off, yes time is only relative to ones own perspective.  Further an object in motion can not be frozen in any one instance of time.  No matter how small the frame of time the object in question travels some distance in that time frame.

So in essance time itself can never be static.  It can not be seperated in to static increaments and arranged in order.

Does that make sence to everyone?

Hey Squeek,

They make T-shirts with that on there with the caption,
"The Ultimate Code"

Actually they are starting to make a lot of shirts with various old school gamer stuff on them.  There pretty cool.
#475
That was interesting.  A little heavy but interesting.

Basically he says that "Time" is not a valid mesurement for motion because you, to put it simply, can not mesure time.

And maybe to put it into some thing a little more general.  It could be looked at in the same way the many of the people here of the forums consider a great many things.  That being time is only relative to ones perspective.
