Menex if you want help I would advise you to tell us how you try to ap.  We can see what you are doing wrong.  I was able to help someone else in another forum by doing this.

How is your mind when you practice ap?  Is it relaxed or agitated?  It is very important for the mind to be relaxed.  If it is bored, feeling annoyed, lying there for too long in the same position,  feeling uncomfortable etc.  If you are thinking of too many things that can make the mind not relax as well.  You can imagine something but it has to be at the right time for it to work.  That is from my experiences.   If you do not mediate I would advise you to meditate.  Meditation can help a lot with ap.

I step out of my body.  I get out how I would normally get out of bed, physically.  There are times when I run out of my body.  It is easy to separate because the astral body is loose from the physical body.

Have you tried to be in a more comfortable position instead of lying on your back?  You must have lost confidence and feel that you cannot ap as you have tried to ap for a long time without success.  That is normal.  I would feel that as well, that I was not able to ap.  That could be the problem.  If you think you cannot ap, it is a lot harder to ap.  Your inner self does not want to ap.  It thinks it cannot ap.  I would advise you to keep telling yourself I can ap, I will ap, I ap now.  Even if you do not succeed keep telling yourself that you can do it.  By doing that I have found ap becomes a lot easier.  It may not work overnight.  You will have to give it a lot of time, as long as it takes to convince yourself that you can ap.  Do you want to ap?  Of course, your answer is yes.  Your body may not want to ap.  That happens to me sometimes.  I am lying down and I want to ap but my body does not want to co-operate.  I have to keep telling myself I want to ap to try to convince my body that I want to ap.  Then ap is a lot easier.   I would advise you not to lie down for hours as it is a waste of time.  I have done that and it does not achieve anything.  If it does not happen, it is better to get up and do something then try again.  That is what I do.  It works about 99 percent of the time.

You have to keep practicing to get it right.  Chopsticks gave you good advice.  Have you tried rolling out?  You imagine that you are rolling.  You could imagine that you are swaying.  When you feel yourself swaying imagine the swaying getting bigger and bigger until you exit your body.

Have you tried sleeping for a few hours first then trying to ap?  When your body has rested for a while it is a lot easier to ap.  Also you do not have the distractions and you can take your time. 
Lying on your back is not working for you.  What about lying in a more comfortable position instead of lying on your back.   The problem with that is you have a high chance of falling asleep.  I lie on my side on a very thin mattress.  It is not comfortable so I am less likely to fall asleep.  I ap most mornings when I make an effort.

You will probably disagree with me but I do not agree that you should be drowsy to ap.  If you are drowsy it is likely you will fall asleep.  It is better to stay awake and alert to ap.  You will be more alert in the astral and have more control at what you are doing.  Just my opinion.

Stop trying to be really good at visualising.  You are putting pressure on yourself stopping you to ap.  I visualise a lot but I think I must be the worse person that visualises and I still get out of my body.  It does not matter how poor your visualisation skills are, you can still ap.  If visualisation does not work it means you are not ready to ap at that moment.  Breathe slowly in and out to get more relaxed for a while then try to visualise again.

The other night I nearly succeeded to ap.  In a way I did succeed but it was not successful.  I went to bed to try to ap.  I did not have a sleep so I knew that it was harder to ap.  I thought I would try anyway.  I kept breathing in and out to get more and more relaxed.  The mistake I make is I concentrate on my breathing and nothing else.  I only realised recently that is where I go wrong.  I have to notice how my body is feeling not only in the mornings when I wake up but at other times as well.  When my body starts to feel different then I know I can do an ap technique.  My body was starting to feel different so I imagined that I was playing a game of tennis.  I was hitting the ball but I got hit in the face with a ball.  It did not hurt but I could feel the ball hitting my face.  Unfortunately that woke me up.  That is how it is for me.  I realise that it is probably different for you.

You spiritually get out of your body.  It is like you are physically doing it but you are spiritually getting out of your body.  The faster you get out the better because it is a lot quicker.  You do not have to think of how you are doing it.

All their courses are very expensive.  One of their courses was about moving your energy up and down and in different directions.  It was for three hours and it cost $60.  It was interesting  but not worth it.  I would rather have my money than going on the course.

I did the course years ago.  Back then it was not on line.  It cost a lot of money.  I think it is about $550 or more.  At the time I am glad I did the course.  It was fun.  I would not go on it now.  I realise it does not help you to ap.  You can get all the information here on this forum on how to ap.

Lionheart is correct.  We are not skilled to know.  Perhaps it is caused by stress.  Stress can do things to your body or perhaps you think it is going to happen so it will happen.  I sometimes get the hiccups for no reason when I am drinking a hot drink.  When I have stopped drinking the hiccups stop.  The mind is very powerful.  If you believe something will happen, it is likely to happen.  Many years ago my eye was damaged and I saw double vision.  I was told I had to wear glasses to stop the double vision.  I did not want to wear glasses.  I kept telling myself everyday that I am not going to see double vision.  Everyday my double vision got better and better.  It took some weeks for it to disappear.   I was determined I was not going to have double vision.  Of courses, the power of the mind only works with some things.  A lot of times it would not work.  If you need a hip replacement for example the power of the mind will not fix it.   I am only guessing with your problem.  I am not a medical person and I do not have any training in that area.

That might be your problem.  If I am worried about anything or have something on my mind, I find it hard to ap.  Your mind has to be relaxed free from problems and nagging things.
Some people can ap without trying but it may not last.  Years ago I was able to ap without trying but it did not last.  I have to put in the effort to ap and work at it.  I think most people cannot ap at will.

There is nothing wrong in using things to help you to ap.  If it helped me, I would use it.

You are right about training wheels.  I no longer listen to the sounds of the rain etc.  I do not use anything anymore.

Thank you all for your replies.  At the moment I am not trying to ap.  I have a cold and I have been coughing a lot.  I am really looking forward getting better so I can ap again.  You are the only ones that know about it.  I am not able to talk about it to my family as they are non believers.

Hi all, does everyone in this forum phase to ap.  I do not phase.  I do not think I do.  I never looked it up so I am not really sure.  I do know that it is good to notice things when your eyes are closed.  I only notice things when it is obvious, like one time I saw a lion.  I have seen other things as well.  I try to notice more on how my forehead and body feels as that it a very good sign to know that you are about to ap.  We are all different and what works for me may not work for you.  I realise that.  I was just wondering if I am the only one that does not phase.
