a friend of mine once told me that there was some branch of chiristianity or something like that, who were very big on ap. he is a fairly reliable source of info to me, so maybe a little research into all of christianity would shed some light on something. if you dont find anything let me know and i'll ask him about it.

i have been going nuts going through different postures to get comfy. at first i thought it was just a neck problem. i thought my neck just couldnt get comfortable no matter what. after going through a few differnt postures, and some sub posture postures ie. lying down w/ outa pillow, lying down w/ one. lying down w/ a shirt under my head. also i've found moving your arms to different positions will help ease discomfort w/ other parts of your body. every part of your body being in certain places will affect your overall comfort. also i've found out the hard way that sitting or lying in a certain position will get uncomfortable after a litte while, even if this is your favorite position.  so if you are doing a long meditation or trance state session, and are in what you have found to be your most comfy spot only to find it's starting to get uncomfy, don't be afraid to move to something completely different. i've found the best way to find the comfy spot is to pick something, do it for five minutes, if you dont 'see dramatic results then change. this has worked like a charm for me so far. hope this helps.

i agree, the happier you are and more content you are the easier it will be to attain a good level of trance. sometimes when i just get out of the shower and am i na very good mood i can get to the paralysis state w/in a few seconds. i haent been able to project, though i believe i'll be able to do it this week sometime.

i do think there is a kind of a connection that you have w/ other people especially when they are asleep and you are in a deeply relaxed state.there have been a few occasion when i have woken up earlier than the person sleeping next to me. usually when i awake i go right into some energry work becauase i m already very relaxed. after about five minutes when my whole body is almost buzzing i can make the person next ot me twitch , w/out touching them, at least a good twelve inches away.  the more i would raise the more they would twitch. maybe because your aura or outer energy body is so stretched out it could be touching the persons next to you . dunno, just a thought. fred

i've only had paralysis a few times. all of them this year. i only got them after reading about them, so i guess that's good for me. i only read waht was available in ad so when the time came i knew what was going on. from the very first time i thought it was cool and i kinda liked it. the next few times there were weird noises and the last time it happened there was a whole episode which i refer to as the weirdest thing to happen to me yet. i don't remmeber the name of the post but if you click my name i believe that you can see my other posts. maybe if some time is spent during the waking hours thiknking about the paralysis and actually feeling it w/ your minds eye, it will better prepare you for hte next time. if you go over the events in your head while lying down and truly try and experience them and at the same time think that everythings ok and that  this is kinda fun, maybe next time it will be. i was recently given some advice on experiences in general by another member, which changed the way i m going to look at things. it was to try and replace any bit of fear w/ a slight bit of curiousity. fear will only snowball and maybe ruin a good exp or even an obe. maybe instead of fearfully reacting "waht's going on !" you could replace it w/ a curious one. as if you were taking notes. hope this helps.

on the heaven note

i've always been pretty big on the, if you believe it then it exists, saying. i dont' know that it would be possible to have a false or true existence of any kind. i believe in AD it read that the planes themselves are manifested from a universial consciousness, or something like that. anytime that i think about existence i tend to think about the hell realms and that the scariest or most hellish thing to exist there is exactly what you or your subconscious can come up w/ that you are most afraid of. also i think that those realms are just filled w/ other peoples fears. i guess the same would be said about the heaven realms.

i believe i have an explanation for some of the "stars". i have seen the ones that were described as the ones from being lightheaded. i don't know if they are the same ones i am about to describe.

i'm 23 and i have done a fair amount of lsd, and other various drugs. anytime that i do anytype of drug and close my eyes i can see what appear to be milllions of tiny points of white light coming at me. it appears as though i m travelling through space.

now if i m tripping or on some other kind of drug less of a hallucinagenic effect, and meditate, then these "stars" start coming faster and eventually they all start to swirl in a clockwise motion. not each individual star but the entire view .to be compared w/  looking up at the night sky and spinning around fast.

the times that i hvae stuck w/ the meditation or have done nitrous at the same time the swirling gets so fast and tight that it appears to suck in al of the stars to what looks to be a center. when they get to the closest point to this center, all of the stars have come together to form a tubelike structure.

after a few seconds there is a rushing wind sound along w/ musical tones. i m flying through this tube at incredible speed and can see geometric patterns on the inside of the tube, along w/ colors to match.

in astral dynamics this is described as a gateway to one of the planes. this was the experience that i had that has brought me to where i am today. i was curious about waht this was and went to the bookstore to look around. i picked up astral dynamics and happened to flip to the page taht had "tubelike structures" at the top. i bought the book.

i went through a stage where i experminted w/ drugs for about a year . when i m sober, which i have been for over a year now, i can still see these stars cmoing at me. the more i meditate the more i can see them. i can also see them very clearly w/ my eyes closed or in a very dark room.i have not been able to get these stars to conform to the tubelike structure w/out the use of drugs.

i have not been able to get to the end of the stucture, i think because there is no end. i havent experimented w it for a while mainly because i m intot he energy raising techiniques in astral dynamics.

i can still see them today but i don't make a huge deal about it like i used to because now i know that they are just a small part in what my experience is going to be. hope this helps.

i read in a book on lucid dreaming a description on something called the critical faculty. it's our level of awareness in both waking and dream state. when we are awake the critical faculty is on full alert but when we are dreaming it is almost shut off completely. the trick is to constantly ck it during the waking hours so you then integrate it into the dream state. the book reads: if there were a girl sitting across from you w/ four eyes in a restaurant in your dream and you think to yourself "hmm, that girl is very pretty but has four eyes, that spoils her",  that the critical faculty is pretty much shut off. half on would be "that's odd, that girl has four eyes", and of course fully active would be " whoa , that girl has four eyes, i must be dreaming. so every situation that you can apply it to, ask yourself is everything normal. obviously you have to be serious about the question and do some actual cking into the situation even if it feels silly or awkward.

i believe that in astral dynamics, robert bruce says his first wild was a result of a failed oobe attempt. it's suggested that anyone trying to have a wild do some trance work and energy devlopment and then try and project almost to the point of projection. get in your most comfy sleeping position and hold an image of where you would like your dream scene to be and fall asleep. i have tried a few times but nothing yet. i'm going to keep at it though. good luck.

Welcome to Dreams! / Vision clarity
August 18, 2002, 08:38:49
i havent had a wild yet but i can only guess that the clarity would be the same as an ld. i could be wrong but it makes sense that they would be the same. as for increasing clarity, this is a very simple technique though i can't remember exactly what it's called. before you go to sleep make a firm intention to have exceptional clarity duruing your dream state. it uses the same idea as in praying. praying for certain things to come true in your dream state just strenthens intent for them to happen. if you have a god then pray to him/her. if you don't then pray to your shoe. as long as you wholeheartedly intend to have increasing clarity it should help. i personally do not have a god right now or anything to pray to so i just wish upon myself to have a lucid dream before i go to sleep. i dont actually wish as in hope, i just say to myself "may i have a lucid dream tonight". as if i were saying it to someone else. remember this also, your vision is only limited by your imagination in your dream. your dream body is a manifestation of your mind that is used to having a human physical form. if you truly believe you can see a thousand miles in your dream, you can. we are all so used to only being able to see directly in front of us because our eyes are only capable of doing so. take a moment to imagine, w/out the use of your physical eyes, what it would be like to be able to perceive a perfectly clear 360 degree image of the room that you are in right now. the trick is not to try and picture it w/ your eyes but inside your head. if you do it enough you will start to get a very cool icture in your head and if you can do this now, then when you are dreaming you can actually see in every direction. directly below and above and 360 degrees. i guess if you imagine that you are a point of consciousness in yoru dream w/out any physical limitations, and that you are capable of being aware and perceiving everything everywhere, that would be the way to go about doing it. hope this helps, good luck.

Welcome to Dreams! / Dreaming Practice
August 18, 2002, 07:59:47
i dont believe that you "have" to do anything. you should do whatever you imagine. i don't know if i'll ever have enough lucid dreams to accomplish all of the things that i want to do. maybe sit and write a list of things you want to do and pick one for each night you dream. this  is also very helpful if you focus on the task that you want to accomplish before you fall asleep because it may help you gain lucidity. if you have a dream goal in mind for a certain night and you are dreaming but non lucid, there is still a chance taht you will carry out the task on the list. if you do this there is a very good chance you will notice that you are doing the task and can conclude you are dreaming. you should gain lucidity there if you haven't already.you mentioned that you read the tibetan yoga of sleep. if it's the same book i am thinking about then i believe it may say something along the lines of not looking for spiritual beings but praying to them before you sleep. also if you are familiar w/ the samsaric and clear light aspects then you should just follow the practices on dreaming and eventually you will be dreaming clear light dreams which should be the dreams that have spiritual beings in them if any. also, it seems like you have read some good books on lucid dreaming. they vary from one another and it's important to keep in mind that just reading all of the good books and thinking about the practices arent enough. i know it's posted everywhere but i learned the hard way about taking your time and integrating the practices into your life gradually and at the correct times. i wanted to blow through all of the practices in one night and thought i was special. i still think i'm special :) but have learned to take it easy. good luck.

Welcome to Dreams! / being blind in a dream
August 18, 2002, 07:29:23
it's possible that you were experiencing an energy loss while you were dreaming. usually when you experience an energy loss when you are dreaming or while oobe your senses will start to fade, sometimes to the point where they wont work. vision usually goes first. i believe if you are dreaming and something starts to fade or you feel  it start to you can use the same technique that you use while oobe which is to just feel energy being raised into your dream/astral body. have fun.

Welcome to Dreams! / Spinning in a dream???
August 18, 2002, 07:10:53
i've had about 5-6 lucid dreams. mainly due to the book i read by stephen la berge. i believe that's how his name is spelled. i dont' recall teh exact name of the book though. it's something like lucid dreamer or the world of the lucid dreamer. all of the dreams that i became lucid in were from the spinning technique. every time that i spun something wierd has happened in the spinning stage. i just posted the most bizarre exp. i've ever had a few posts up, you should ck that one out. everytime i spun it seemed like i was in another world until i was done spinning. i saw waht looked like stars and heard music a few times. i don't know if this has anything ot do w/ your exp but it's just some wierd stuff i exp from spinning.

i've been doing this stuff for a few months now and it has always taken me about fiftenn minutes to get into the trance state. i tried this method of holding your breath and it has me in the same place almost in about two minutes. i can't help to htink that this is too good to be true . when things sound too good to be true they usually are. i'm wondering, does anyone has any negative feedback on this?

#589
i have been trying to have wild's for a while now but they seem pretty hard, does anyone know of someone else who  has had a lot of experience in this and would be able to give better instructions. it would be incredible to be able to lay down whenever you wanted to and induce one.
