Experiment with your sense of taste.  Recently I held my hands in front of me like I was holding a hamburger, and began to visualize one there.  It 'materialized' slowly like when they're using the replicators in star trek. The funny thing was that a fish sandwich appeared instead of a hamburger!   It tasted great, though!

Do people say that?  I've always heard that it is a lot harder at that time -not that you CAN'T.  I've had quite a few of them before bed without a prior nap.  I don't usually, just because it is more difficult, but it's certainly possible.    I'm referring to conscious projections, though.  Maybe you are referring only to becoming lucid from a dream.  I have very few of that type so can't really speak to that.

Maybe I should start systematically taking notes of my tiredness levels going to bed along with my success levels during attempts. Has anyone else noticed a correlation there?

Tiredness level has a lot (even mostly) to do with my success at this.  You need to be tired enough that your body is ready for sleep but not so tired that your mind can't stay awake.  For me this means I go to bed at 12 am and project at 6 am.   Or, I get about 6 hrs. sleep at night, then because I was a little short on sleep, I take a 2 hr. nap in the evening -say 8-10 pm.  Then I can project at around 1 am.

One thing that can mess you up (kind of give you a false reading about the whole situation) is eating carbs. and sugar, then feeling tired and thinking that it will be a good time to project because you're tired.  That never works - the effect of the sugar is making you tired and your conscious mind just gets pulled under -impossible to stay awake to project.  At least that's been my experience.  Best to keep you your sugar eating several hrs. away from any projection attempts.

It's always much worse imagining what could happen than actually just doing it and dealing with it.  You'll find when you're in the situation dealing with a negative character, you have enough time to think about how you want to react and you'll have your whits about you.  Treat them with kindness and calm your mind and you can diffuse the situation.  Most of mine are very positive, but when I encounter the occasional threatening situation I usually first of all, have a wave of fear come over me.  That's OK.  The NP is thought reactive but no one is going to clobber you in 1 second flat if you experience a little fear.  I immediately, then, push the fear away, telling myself to knock it off.  I allow my mind to be blank (or in a meditative state) for a few seconds and then continue interacting calmly with as much love and kindness as I can.  Even in my worst one ever, which was actually pretty bad, I made step by step decisions and freed myself. (and I believe I only had that experience because I was curious about the hell realms and on some level wanted to see one)  The worst thing that'll happen if you have a run away fear situation is you'll wake up back in the physical.  I know I can go back to the physical if I want to get away from something scary but I've never once done it.  It's much more satisfying and fun to take on the challenge.  Then you've learned something and have more confidence for next time.  :)

Yes.  After my first few "RTZ" projections, I thought I was really seeing the physical with a few dream overlays (when something in the room was not right) but with more and more experience, it became obvious that everything I was seeing was a copy, not the actual physical world.  I believe some of it comes from my mind and some from the mind of others.  I get a lot of very obvious 'tests' that I know don't come from me (unless they come from my higher self -always a possibility) and a few of the tests have taken place right in the midst of these RTZ constructs.

A few times I've seen things in the supposed RTZ that I could not possibly have known were there.  When this happens to people it often leads them to believe that they are seeing the actual physical world, but when it happened to me, I could tell I was still seeing a copy because what I saw did not match the physical 100%.  Very close!  But not quite perfect.  So these experiences are clairvoyant -but that does not mean you are seeing the actual physical world.

Do you have sleep apnea?  If so, maybe the OBE state allows you to be more aware of it.  From your description it sounds like you might have it.

I don't have sleep apnea but on occasion I have breathing problems right after an OBE beginns.  I become aware of my non-physical environment and my physical body condition at the same time, and I realize that I'm struggling to get enough air with every breath.  The only conclusion I have come to is that I'm congested.  Even though I consider myself fully lucid, I've never been smart enough to just open my mouth!  I always end up ruining the projection and waking up whenever I have the breathing issue.  Fortunately it doesn't happen too often.

Frank.  Frank's Noticing Method.  :)

Although, even he didn't "invent" it.  LoL

^ This        You didn't mention what, if anything, you focus on.  I know if I just head towards sleep without a focus point I'll usually end up falling asleep.   :-)

Great job! :)   Many people (including me) only get the vibrations the first several times they project and then rarely or never get them again.

I landed in a hospital once when I had intent to visit my deceased grandma. So maybe F27.  I walked around trying to find her and couldn't.  Finally I found a hospital worker and asked where she was and he told me she wasn't here any more.  I asked well where'd she go?  and a guide showed up that led me to her.  I don't consider the experience a success because when I finally got to see her it was only for a few seconds and then I lost consciousness. (I've had more successful visits since, though)  It was interesting walking around the hospital and it seemed as though I was being shown that she had been there for rehab before she moved on.

I had this experience maybe about a year after I started projecting.  I held intent that I wanted to visit my grandma for about a week before it happened.  I don't know anything about the gateway program - I didn't do anything special except have the intent.

Sometimes you get sensations and you do not have to do anything.   You ap somewhere.   Other times you get ap sensations and if you do nothing the ap will end.    Sometimes you have to do something to make ap happen.

Absolutely true!  Just happened to me last night.  I had the sensations and was waiting to pop into a scene, but unfortunately the sensations stopped for no apparent reason.  This happens sometimes which is why I don't always use the method of just waiting without doing an exit.  Sometimes it's better to do an exit technique.  When I get to the point in the trance where I hear voices or other (sometimes creepy) sounds, I either do a roll out or I do a mental exit where I visualize myself already OOB in another place in the room.

So between the 3 techniques, waiting 'til I just end up 'there', rolling out, or a mental visual exit, I can get the job done.

Last night after my first first failure, I turned over, got comfortable again, went back into the trance, and when I got to the point that I heard voices and a sound like a potato chip bag crinkling ( that's a creepy one that I do get once in a while) I visualized myself floating toward the nearest door in my house.  It worked and I went through the door and onward into an adventure.

Tom in his forum praised this book. He just added that it only gives a limited view of possibilties in the afterlife. Earth is one school and some 'souls' seem to bound there somehow in a "karmic cycle" which is rather of their own making instead of realising that they can go to other schools and have other experiences. M. Newton just writes about souls experiencing the Earth school. However I remember that he wrote about transfers too. I recommend the books of Dolores Cannon to read about lots of souls that come here who have experienced other 'schools' before (realities, planets, universes, levels and ways of existence in a vessel of whatever kind ..).
I might have seen other lectures by him because this is not what I remember that he is saying. He says that you are cared for and many things that coincide with Newton's findings, e.g. that you do a life review. So there is some 'stay period' in the 'after' or "in-between"-life (both terms I still find wrong, because I think it is our 'real' life and physicality is the illusion - but anyway here we go).
Indeed, he is maybe not right about everything but gives some good clues as to the underlying nature of reality. He wants people to find out themselves by learning the techniques, that is why he does not give his own accounts, so he says.

I saw the short version 15 min. clip of Tom on reincarnation, not a whole lecture.  It definitely gave the feeling that you'd be coming back to earth real quick, but in light of what you say above it was probably meant to be taken in a general way.  Like - the process is 'something like this'  rather than  'exactly like this'.  Good to know he is more flexible than he sometimes comes off.

Still he says that when you meet your family they are fake (just data), which seems oh so cheap to me.  Worse than cheap.  More like betrayal.  The Michael Newton books take the position that your family is really your family. Your consciousness can exist on the earth plane and the heavenly plane at the same time.  That resonates much better with me.

Have you ever read Destiny of Souls and and Journey of Souls by Michael Newton?  They are very interesting books to say the least and a different perspective than Tom.

Toms seems to say that everyone reincarnates right away (after standing in some processing lines)  but there is so much other evidence that every one's afterlife time table is different , with choices available for the ones who are at least somewhat 'awakened.'

Many people seem to latch on to Tom's theories like they are the only ones out there (I'm not saying you are) and to my knowledge he doesn't even share his direct experiences that lead him to his conclusions.  I'm not putting him down -he's a good and wise person for sure, but there's other reputable people out there.

Hi Onthepulse!  Welcome.  :)

I eat plenty of bread a dairy and have no problems projecting.  The only dietary thing I have to keep in mind is I need to have a nearly empty stomach at the time I project.  It doesn't matter so much what I eat at other times (although I would stay away from too much sugar) as long as I obey that one rule.  Everyone's different in that respect though.

Good luck with your journey!  :)

Maybe I've been concentrating too hard on achieving a certain type of experience, instead of letting it just happen.

Exactly!  :)

My testers have never revealed themselves to me.  I do have spirit guides that show up on occasion but they haven't spoken to me on the subject of tests.  After the tests are passed - Szaxx has been doing this for a very long time and has many stories!  As for myself, my mission has been to give 'love energy' to specific people.  The love energy showed up last year as one of my 'powers' and it can be turned on and off at will and can grow to overwhelming proportions. I have one validation so far that I'm giving the love energy to real people.  A girl who has crossed over and a boy who is still alive on earth.

Once when I was prevented from leaving a building, it turned out that it was because the test was inside.  I wasn't supposed to be focusing on getting out.  As soon as I dealt with what was inside, I was released.  The test inside happened to be a man who grabbed my arm and wouldn't let go.  I had to figure out how to get him to let go of me.

Every test situation is different so be open to all possibilities.  Use your intuition!  :)

AP and LD  - These are just labels.  Just concentrate on keeping your awareness on 'full'  (full lucidity), be helpful, offering your services to others, and enjoy the journey that is laid before you.  Some interesting things will open up!

Szaxx, we posted at the same time but you beat me. I guess some repetition doesn't hurt!

The slightest doubt and your 'powers' will disappear.  Maybe you had a little trouble one time and doubt set in?  You'll just need to get your 'believing' mind set back on line! :)

Having said that, I remember one time when I bonked my head against the wall, trying to go through it, and there seemed to be absolutely no reason for it.  I believed I could go through it just like every other time, so who knows?  Maybe it was a test of some sort -just to see how you would handle it.  Have you ever felt like you are being tested in your LDs?  When I first started I had the feeling I was being tested, and before long there was no doubt in my mind that was the case.  They become that obvious. Just go with your instincts on what you are supposed to accomplish in whatever environment you find yourself in. Do it without fear and frustration, be kind to those you meet and you will pass. The changing of your environment and number of DCs  is very normal. This will cycle around and more interesting things will return in time.

Welcome Practice!

Sounds like you have a great start and actually may be almost there if you are hearing sounds and feeling presences in the room.  For myself, if I feel a presence in the room with me, projection comes immediately after.

If you were just in a dream, you can imagine yourself being back in the dream again and you will find yourself there (or in another astral location) but lucid this time.

If the vibes were heavy like you say, you can just get out of bed like you normally do.  Or you can roll out so you end up lying on the floor.  Don't think about it.  Just do it.

Real demons do not have the power or intelligence to use the board or to manifest in that way. They're basically like leeches. THey just kinda latch on and feed and that's it.

harboring fear, resentment envy and other negative emotions block positive spirits who may be trying to reach you.

Is there anything in between the real demons and positive spirits you mention above?

Like, say, tricksters/liars/spirits that just want to mess with you?

I ask this not having any real opinion on it myself -it just seems reasonable that there would be some middle ground.

A sure fire method to keep me awake as the trance deepens is to find the right timing.  For me the right time is 6 hrs. after I go to sleep for the night.  Having 6 hrs. of sleep behind me, I feel a definite 'ease' in staying awake 'til I pop into a scene.  If I try earlier in the night, it's much easier to fall asleep, and if I try later in the morning -like hr. 7 or 8, my body is too ready to wake up which makes projection more difficult. I don't do the hr. 6 thing every night because I don't want to train my body to always wake up at that time -leaving me TOO awake.

So I wake up in 6 hrs. Use the bathroom, make sure to shake off the sleepiness, lie right back down again and go into trance.

It's great that you're hearing voices/conversations.  If you hear a conversation, and at the same time have the feeling that you're in another room or place, the trance is deep enough that you can do an exit technique if you want.

Man, I think this thread just changed my life.

As I've said before I came out of a very strong evangelical Christian background, son of a Pastor, lived most of my life in church services, became a worship leader at age 16 and went to college and got my degree in Worship Arts to do it full time. I've always had such a desire to know God and to be One with him(it). I frequently spent hours in my room worshiping this God who was just too big for words, too marvelous to comprehend. It was almost a daily occurrence for me to cry while driving in the car to some worship song that came on. I was so in Love with the Creator that my whole life revolved around it. I even had quite a powerful healing gift that I would even use when out on the streets to heal people that were ill. We called it "words of knowledge" in the Christian realm, when you get an impression someone has low back pain or cancer or whatever. I've seen hundreds, maybe thousands of real, genuine physical healing. I've been instantly healed myself of a torn rotator cuff. I always knew God was real and felt a burning desire every day of my life to become even closer with God.

I eventually stopped believing in hell, much to the worry of my family. Then eventually stopped believing in the idea that Jesus "died for my sins" because the God I knew was not a barbarian who required a blood sacrifice to forgive people. Then I eventually lost my spirituality altogether, as coming to the realization that everything I'd ever believed as Christian was wrong. The Bible stories, the stories of Jesus, belief about heaven, etc all wrong. I embraced science and evolution fully, which is often very hostile to all religion/spirituality, which made me slowly become cynical towards my old beliefs.

The baby went out with the bath water and i lost my spirituality altogether. I lost all the beauty, passion, and wonder of the Divine. It hurt so much to lose everything that was so central to my being from the time I was born. I became a closet atheist for months, and went into a deep depression over losing my faith. I then became more of a New-Ager who essentially believed that God is just the sum of all consciousness. But My love for God still burns deep within, waiting to be reawakened. I've just needed to know that God is real and personal in some sense, and I've gotten that image very strongly in the past 8 months on this forum board. However, God is something I want to Experience for myself.

Reading the experiences on this thread, and the beautiful descriptions of everyone's experience with the Divine have filled my heart with that Love and Wonder again. I sat here with tears in my eyes, reading every word of these comments. I too had a deep love for the Christian mystics of the dark ages, and have read many of their books: St. Teresa of Avila's "Interior Castle", St. John of the Cross' "Long dark night of the soul", Michael Molinos' "The Spiritual Guide", Jeanne Guyon's "Experiencing the Depth's of Jesus Christ" and many more.

Thank you to all who've shared on this thread. I am glad this thread has been stickied. People need to read about these experiences. I want this experience for myself so badly. I've been doing an hour of Kundalini Awakening/Chakra meditation 3-5 nights a week for a month now. Thanks to this thread, something deeply important and eternally valuable has been re-awakened in me.

Since Soarin posted some lyrics, I'll do the same. I played this song after reading this thread, and spent about 30 minutes overwhelmed by tears of joy and love. Used to be my favorite to sing and play with my guitar :)

"It's always like Spring time with You, making all things New
Your Light is breaking through the dark
This Love it is sweeter than wine, bringing joy, bringing life
Your hope is Rising like the Dawn

This is what you do
This is what you do
You make me come alive"

That's a beautiful story and song, Aaron.  You're a very good writer and with your healing gift and passion for the Divine, I wouldn't be surprised if you ended up a spiritual teacher/healer.  Maybe not one that your dad would approve of, but oh well... :)  Maybe your family will come around!

Those must have been hard spiritual changes to go through.  I think anyone who is truly driven by the love of God will end up going through that purging of man made dogma.  I know I did.  The world pulls us this way and that, and then we finally (hopefully) learn to just follow what resonates with us in the core of our being.  This all reminds me of another saint.  Thomas Aquinas - who spent years writing 'important' theological documents, and then one day had a mystical experience that he wouldn't write down or talk about.  Afterwards, when his companions urged him to go back to his writings, he said - I just can't.  They seem like straw to me now...  I know how he felt!  :)

Great advice! Wish I had read that before my projection this morning lol. My problem is usually that I'm so excited to be projecting that I sit there wondering where I am and thinking about what I should do/where I should go. And then the experience ends. They are always very short. But that's probably BECAUSE my level of awareness is too low. Next time I'm going to find something to touch or grab right away to heighten my level of awareness, and see if that doesn't cause the experience to last longer.

Oh, I was going to mention, too, that another reason for poor vision (often has a very unsaturated look to it and at times it may kind of go dark) AND  short experiences, is that you are projecting a little too late in the morning when your body is ready to wake up.  Harder to hang onto a descent, clear projection at that point.
