I will try, but I haven't been very good at controlling anything lately :)

You said that the U.S. is one of the most successful countries, and I am just wondering what that means to you?

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"  ummmm.....darn big pothole this one is.  I'm tired of the biggest of the big businesses getting to run over everybody with impunity.  It's disgraceful.  I'm tired of government choosing those big business interests over the right of our citizens.

What do you define as success, Fresco?  I'm guessing your definition greatly differs from mine that that therein lies the problem :)

Allow me to just add a few of my Libtard traits (This goes for most Libs, but not all.  There are exceptions):

They think science is religion, they rarely think "outside the box'.
They hate god or even the concept of ANY deity.
They hate most religions.  Especially christianity.
They love Islam, especially right after 9/11.
They think they're intellectual.
They love atheism.
They love freedom of speech, until they encounter someone they dont agree with.
They love evolving a debate into name-calling.
They think they're supersmart.
They think a higher education automatically translates into success later in life.
They think uneducated people are stupid.
They hate FoxNews, but CNN can do no wrong and always tells the truth.
The love gun-control (or banning them), not realizing only criminals will then own guns.
They mostly hate natural medicine, vitamins, herbs....etc.  Its Rx drugs all the way baby.  Because thats supported by science.
They love peer-reviewed journals and AFA as they're concerned can almost never be wrong.

WOW, thats quite a rant.  I need some lunch now too   :-P

LOL... I consider myself a liberal, and the ONLY statement that describes me is "they think they're supersmart"  :-D

My idea of God is "the all"...that which incorporates everything...infinity.  I call this God once I got past all of the "big man sitting on throne" stuff I was fed as a child :)

I have discovered that whenever I have magnanimous experience such as yours, Lunar, it is followed shortly after by a period of discombobulation, vivid experiences, or depression.  When I make the choice to just ride that wave and let it play out rather than fight it, I find that the experience doesn't last very long.

Yes, Bellend.  I've done this a couple of times.

Fresco, although that concern might be valid, judging by my own past experience, when I was depressed, APing was absolutely terrifying and not a place I would wish to be.

I have had about a 3-week dry spell, and I just knew something was going to happen last night.

So, I was lying in bed and relaxing and focusing.  I asked a guide of mine to draw near, and he did, and I chatted with him for a while (I did most of the chatting lol).  I felt that energy with me for quite some time.  Then, I was in a state where I felt that I could be able to AP when the energy changed.  It was suddenly at the back of my neck and felt like it was pushing very hard, plus felt a kind of burning sensation.  I asked for that to stop, and the energy returned to feeling like this guide for a moment and then went right back to my neck.  I felt myself as if leaving my body, but I must have lost my focus, because I was immediately in a dream where I kept trying to stretch out my neck and felt like I was stuck, and then I woke.

The rest of my night was spent in and out of lucid dreams.  There was a weird one where I was with a woman who I 'knew' in the dream, and I felt she was trying to keep me prisoner in her house.  I took her backpack and sat on a chair that could fly (lol) and took off, trying to get away from her.  When I was flying around in the chair, I became lucid and let the chair go (I still had the backpack) and flew around for a while until I lost the lucidity and went back into the dream where this woman was looking for me.  I, again, found a chair and decided that I would take off for a friend's house.  I took out my gps (because I didn't know where he lived) and discovered it didn't work up in the air.  I became lucid at that point and dumped the chair and decided I hadn't seen this friend in a long time anyway and if I 'think' my way there, that is better than a gps...lol.  However, the phone woke me up before I got there.   :-P

Anyway, the deal with the neck thing has been bugging me.

Sorry that happened PR.  I have had this happen before too, and it feels really awful.  Try concentrating your energies on the ones who do accept and love you.

He sounds interesting Nay.  I'll have to check that out.  Have you ever tried asking in your APs to see a past life?  I did once, and it was very cool.

I haven't decided whether 'past lives' exist or not.  I've received a great deal of information/insight when meditating on it.  My thinking right now is that either that past lives exist or everything is happening at the same time, and we are receiving the information from those other parts of ourselves (not sure how to explain my thought process on that one  :-D) or  this is universal information that we all can access when we need to.

I've 'recalled' all sorts of fascinating things from several 'past lives,' and it's helped a great deal with my own growth.

Personally speaking, I don't know where Frank was going with that.
Unless you have an unstable mental state to begin with... astral projection isn't harmful.

But if you do have an unstable mental state... you *could* be just screwing yourself up even more by projecting.
What I mean is that you're going to then experience the very manifestations of those "unstable mental activities" in full 3D Technicolour glory.

Yep...that pretty much describes what happened with me back then (having a starting point of being depressed).  I know now never to try to project if I even feel a teeny bit off.

"Please be aware that serious mental problems can arise when the opposite is the case (as is often clearly demonstrated on the PSD forum, for instance)"

I can personally attest to this.  Many years ago, when I was already depressed, before I even new what OBE or AP was, I would have daily experiences of feelings like I was leaving my body and then felt like I was in a world of evil scary beings/demons.  It really felt like something was out to get me.  I did not know how to control the experience (and I didn't know that was even possible at the time).  It seriously affected me to the point where I (and some others around me) thought I was "losing my mind."  It took me a long time to gain enough understanding and trust myself to go back 'there.'  Now, I can't stay away, lol, but I think think short journeys in the beginning are probably a good way to go for many.

Nope. This room was empty except for the shapes.  In comparison to me, the shapes were a big as buildings.

if you're of that sentiment then you ought to believe it's all in their minds anyway, so if you don't believe it, it's not a problem.

otherwise, the word occult just means "hidden".  the occult and magic isn't inherently evil.  anything can be turned "evil" by the person using it.  so if you don't trust occult groups because it might be "evil" then your probably should trust science, politics, education, marketing, capitalism, religion, technology, on and on and on and on.  Anything can be "evil".

most practitioners that are labeled "occult" or "pagan" or "magicians" are better people than you or I.  they tend to be more open, accepting and humble.  not to mention compassionate.  they are usually dedicated to a practice that they do every single day and these spiritual practices open them up to the greater reality, a vantage point that allows one to see our world from a more "sagely" perspective.  you would be achieving the same end by practicing astral projection, so you have a lot more in common with them than "normal" people.

but whatever you're comfortable with i suppose.  people just get the wrong idea about magic and the occult.  in my opinion, everything we do is magic, the manipulation of astral energies.  every choice we make, everytime we exert our will on our environment.

Well said PR.

Just wanted to add that I have been pulled out by my guides (who I have a good relationship with) before, and you might try meditating and asking them for help.  This is a good step to learning to do it yourself.

Tell that to a small child who is being abused by an adult.  I think we have a choice once we get older on how we want suffering to mold our lives, but not a small child, no..to them abuse is abuse, pain is pain.

I never said suffering was not as valid a response as not suffering.  And I am not saying that we should not have compassion for others who are suffering. There are many, many atrocities in this world.  We still are all able to choose our reactions to what happens in our lives.

I do.  I teach my children about how their reactions/attitudes to disappointments and tragedies affect them.

I'm sure you understand that the situation you presented is extremely fleeting and mild. If, then, the same reckless driver crashes into you the next day through their own fault, thereby crippling your physical body to give you immense physical pains and disability for the rest of your now shortened life, how will you react? You can certainly choose how to react, but most realistically what will happen? Either way, you will suffer for some amount of time, and if you recover then you learned something from your experience. Hence, learning through suffering.

As a sidenote, the same driver decides to sue you for every penny you have for placing their life in danger (even though they escaped unscathed). Sounds crazy, but it does happen :)

There are many examples of things like this happening in the world.  On man/woman is paralyzed and spends the rest of their life in a deep depression.  Another man/woman in the same situation chooses to figure out where to go from there and leads a happy and productive life.  I know personally of many situations like this where either one or the other choice is made.

Also, I have had a few experiences in my life that led me to the deep darkness of depression.  I chose that.  I take responsibility for how I reacted to those situations.  I still choose the negative reaction route sometimes, but I am now aware that I am choosing to suffer and can change that around.

There are many sites that describes the dweller as a self aspect whose purpose is to protect and transform.  The experience itself may be scary, but not the entity itself.  I'll see if I can find you some links.

On edit:

http://www.dreamhawk.com/levels.htm   & scroll down to 'Guardian of the Threshold' or read the whole topic, it's good.

http://forums.astraldynamics.com/viewtopic.php?t=7304  At the end of the post, Dweller on the Threshold boldfaced.

Thank you the links CFT.  That makes a lot of sense, as I have dealt with this in the past.  I'll save the links to read further at a later time, because they look quite interesting.  Thank you!

Life is not about suffering unless that is what you choose.  We cannot always choose our circumstances, but we have full control on how we react to them.  We are in full choice as to whether we "suffer" or not.

I had never heard of Dweller on the threshold, so I was just looking around, and it is either a song by Jim Morrison  lol or it describes a dark, menacing entity.  This doesn't sound at all to me like what she is describing.  It sounds like her experience was more of a positive one, so I'm not sure why this association?
