 AstralCody is correct.  You must believe you can do it.  That is probably where I go wrong.  One time I could not go through the wall.  Another time I said I can do this and I was able to go through it.  When you are out of your body next time, say I am with my brother now.  I know I can see him right now.  Keep saying it until it happens.  Just believe it will happen and it will happen.  That is what I have to do.

I hope I did not sound like I was putting your course down.  I was talking about what works for me.  It may have sounded a bit like it.  It just entered my mind.  As I said I think it is wonderful you went on the course.  I have done things in the past and I admit it cost a lot of money but I do not regret it.  It is all experience and we learn.

I think it would be great to go on a course.  I would not want to pay a lot of money for it.  You meet people that are interested in ap and you can talk about it.  The atmosphere I imagine would be wonderful.  Overall, you would have a great time and good memories from it for a long time.  There is a lot of talk about Gateway hemi-sync.  I have never been tempted to want to learn about it.  It seems to be complicated.  I like simple things.  What works for me is, I listen to a CD on the sounds of the wind, thunder and rain.  It helps to get your body and mind more and more relaxed.  It is not designed for ap but I really like to use it for ap.  The rest is up to you what you do to make ap happen.  I do not have to worry about different focus levels on the hemi-sync people talk about.  Everyone is different so do whatever works best for you.

I did try one night to have my eyes open but I did not like it.  Perhaps I should have persevered with it longer.  I prefer to keep my eyes closed.  It think it is a lot easier to ap with your eyes closed.

Lionhearts answer is good.  You could also try to feel your face, hands etc. when you are out of your body.  It helps to get awareness.  Then look to see what you are wearing.  Also keep saying, I am aware now until you are very aware.

Thank you Lionheart.  I did not realise it has already been done and that it is very old news.  Has anyone practiced on this forum to astral project with your eyes open?

Hi moderators, I was wondering if I am able to write ap instead of astral projection.  Perhaps it is not a good idea as the forum is called Astral Pulse and it could get confusing to some people.  If you prefer me to write astral projection in full, then that is O.K.  Please let me know.

Hi all, I thought of something new this afternoon.  It entered my mind without thinking about it.  The idea that came to me was, what do you think about trying to astral projection with your eyes open?  The advantage of that is you would not fall asleep.  I think you would get sore eyes.  Perhaps in time you would get used to it.  Has anyone tried it?  Do you think it is a silly idea or worth a try?  If you get an astral projection sensation then you could close your eyes.  You would know you are ready to astral project.  Thanks for your replies.

You can go through doors when you are in a lucid dream or astral projecting.  It is the same.

I practice to astral project and it has made me different.  I feel like I am keeping a secret from people.  I am not able to share astral projection with anyone.  I have to keep it to myself.  I feel a lot happier because I know I can travel to places and see amazing things.  The other day I was thinking I feel a bit weird.  In the morning I had an astral projection experience.  When I woke up I went into the bedroom.  My husband said to me, what do you look so happy about?  I said, it is good to be happy.  If I had my way all over again, I am glad I took up astral projection.  My only regret is I wish I started earlier but I did not know that astral projection was real.

I am happy for you.  Thanks for letting us know.  You must be feeling really great.  I think we all have dry spells.  When we do not astral project it does not make you feel very good.

I would advise to forget about the astral planes.  All you need to do is when you are out of your body is keep saying, awareness now.  While saying awareness now, feel your face, look at your hands and see what you are wearing.  You will become very aware. If it is still a blurry mess, keep repeating I only see what is real now.  It should work.

You are right Xanth.  Thanks for reassuring me.  The reason is probably because I do not want to make the effort to do it.  I am going to try to make the effort.  I think it will be worth it.

Thank you Lionheart.  That was very interesting.  It might sound strange but I do not seem to have the patients to try and notice things.  I can meditate for a long time without a problem.  Perhaps it comes down to practice.  I could start off by 10 minutes then gradually increasing the time.

Hi all, I was reading about phasing and what it is.  You first see the blackness when your eyes are closed.  You keep looking until you see a flicker of light or something similar.  An indication that you are getting close to astral projection.  The method sounds very good.  How do you go with this technique?  Do you have a lot of successes?  I tried it once, but I tried at the worst time.  I tried late at night and of course, I fell asleep.

What helps me is a CD called Music for Deep Sleep.  You hear sounds of thunderstorms, rain and ocean waves.  There are no bird sounds.  I find bird sounds irritating.  It helps your mind to get relaxed, the right frame of mind to astral project.  It may not be your type of thing but it is great for me.

You are probably not doing anything wrong.  What Xanth said is true, there is no magical solution and that applies to meditation.  Just because you can meditate, does not mean you can astral project.  I have meditated a lot and I do not astral project all the time.  I share with you that astral projection can be very frustrating.  I have not astral projected lately.  Sometimes I have not made an effort.  Other times I have made an effort and I fall asleep.  Other times I do not astral project at all.  It is very important to know your astral projection sensations.  Some of the sensations are obvious.  You can hear noises or you can feel yourself moving.  There is another sensation and it is not that easy to notice it.  It is not that obvious.  One moment you are lying down and the next moment you are in the astral.  I have fallen asleep.  I have noticed when I astral project my mind gets a bit more relaxed.  When that happens you know you are about to be in another place.  I kept astral projecting this morning, again and again.  Every time I tried to astral project, I noticed my mind was a bit more relaxed than usual.    Keep up the meditation.  It is really helpful.  I just breathe in and out.  There is nothing complicated or fancy about meditation.  Some times I might do a technique.  It is important to believe you can astral project.  I used to be able to astral project a lot in the mornings but I do not astral project much in the mornings anymore.  I think it is because I have lost confidence.  I said to myself this morning I can do it and my mind will relax.  This morning I listened to a CD of thunderstorms, rain and ocean waves.  That helps my mind to relax and helps to stop being bored.  It is not nice lying down for a long time and nothing happens.   When you start to get frustrated it is hard to astral project.  The mind has to be relaxed.

It does not matter that you cannot visualise something well or for a long time.  If you cannot visualise for very long, have a break and start again.  When your mind and body is ready to astral project you will be on your way regardless of how well you visualise or not.   I cannot visualise but I still astral project.

I have never heard clicking sounds but I have heard other things.  That was a sign for you to astral project.  When you hear things you are on the verge to be able to astral project.  You do not have to hear anything to be able to astral project.
