Szaxx,

Ha ha! Just reading your comment and the top of my head started "un-screwing"! I had forgotten that one!

I wonder if that doesn't relate to the admonition of "keeping one's head screwed on straight & tight"?
#952
Szaxx,
Chakra activity may be a related phenomenon you might incorporate; whether the theory is believed or not, many experience the attendant sensations; if the theory is discounted, then the sensations certainly fall into the Hypnagogia category.

I don't know about women, but many men experience significant arousal that supposedly relates to root/base chakra activity. In later experiences, the activity appears to move to the heart centre with the accompanying rapid heartbeat sensation. Even later experiences can involve brow chakra/third eye pressure.

"...still thinking too physically..."

Bingo! That's a big realization that we have to keep reminding ourselves in order to develop a new way of thinking in the NP.

Running and jumping is just one of many ways to exit a scene. Be open to finding others.

Whether you stay in the first scene is a personal choice, early on you are free to bounce around. But understand that at some point, the first scene presented will be definitely offering a lesson, and expecting you to figure it out. From that point forward, you need to take the attitude that every experience is a lesson or test of some sort.

Good realization!

What you think is your unique method is not the correct understanding; you will be challenged to learn other ways to project; I would venture to say that your lessons are beginning. This is both frustrating and enlightening. Thinking about this possibility should expand your perspective. There are teachers following and guiding your progress...that possibility takes some getting used to.

Many of our early experiences happen seemingly almost accidentally, the state of mind necessary for an exit at this time is not necessarily completely understood, but we have some hints and so we instinctively find when and how to replicate that state. But it doesn't occur or can't be recognized at other times...that's really frustrating.

Try to identify and remember the mind state, the 'feel' during your successful attempts. Look to replicate that at other times; early morning maybe being the best opportunity.

In a deeper perspective, it appears that we are challenged, at least for awhile, in finding new exit methods after we have already established seemingly successful methods; many report this frustration, me included currently, lol.

I can run through 3 to 5 typically successful methods and get nothing. Talk about frustrating! I don't know if I'm blocked for some transgression or I'm being challenged to find something new...is it timing, is it technique?

I guess the question you might ask yourself is -What is so different about my nap exits that I can't reproduce it some other time?

Best of luck in figuring this out! You will figure this out, so keep your confidence! This is the continuing education that we are challenged with... -EV :-D

It's hard to know what you should aim for, at least early on, so my advice is Keep it Simple.

Early morning attempts and naps are good times to try, don't worry if you fall asleep...have the confidence that you will come aware within a dream or at least receive a message of some kind. This is where the affirmations serve a huge purpose to narrow the subconscious focus.

Also you must have a sincere desire to learn, evolve and eventually provide a service to our overall evolution...some fun and joyriding is allowed early on but you can benefit yourself by expressing the willingness to help in the overall cause.

Express your Intent, then be open to the various ways the answer may manifest itself...the first likely being your dreams.

Szaxx -Your outline appears complete in the sequence of events, the remainder being a variability of exposure to each of these sensations: consistency, timing and degree; these become the variables that are unique to each of us, and in my understanding, can change with each experience.

With regard to straight-forward Hypnagogia, I used to get audio with screams, shouts, bangs and gunshots, people calling my name, doors crashing-in that led to visual vignettes of people/police breaking into my house...all of this seemingly dredged up from my subconscious simply to distract me and abort the exit progression. The quicker I decided to ignore any of this, the quicker it diminished and I could progress with my exit. It still catches me out at times!

Astral wind...honestly, I only experienced it once...blew me away...yes! It absolutely did! Off my feet!

Whooshing sounds, train sounds, helicopter sounds...yup.

Vibrations are a another subject; sometimes they are a related/involved component; for me they are a separate phenomenon altogether.

A hypnagogic visual that I would like to mention is that of the gradual, consistent progression of images that I read about and then experienced a couple years later: It literally went from black&white daguerreotype stills (with frames!) to slow, jerky b&w motion pictures, slowly getting faster and faster, becoming a motion picture, then finally shifting to color and progressing to a point where the scene is so strongly presented that the idea occurs to you to literally "step" into the scene...

One key seems to be in how I utilize a visual, like a Rundown Visual, or in exploiting a visual that is presented somewhere along the line, the timing being a huge factor.

You are on the right track and doing just fine. :-)

What I see in this experience is not an indication of a problem or a blockage. This is an early test designed to help you develop your awareness in this new environment and how your mindset needs to adapt to a new way of looking at the Non-Physical.

It's not a wildly complicated realization that needs to be made here, but a fundamental one. You actually succeeded in the first part by recognizing and increasing your lucidity and turning the dream into a lucid projection. You had instinctively found your way into the NP. Your next challenge was to find your way out of the dream scenario so you started trying doors.

That would have worked in the Physical, why didn't it work in the NP? You even found some windows and could see outside, so you knew there was an outside.

What needed to change in your perspective on this situation?
#958
The heart racing is normal, it's your heart chakra firing up...nothing to worry about, it won't hurt you. This is what is powering your OBE. Just follow along with the sensations and remain calm. This may take a few tries because the sensations are, in fact, difficult to stay relaxed enough through, to get to the point of separation...just stick with it...you are in the early part of the FUN part! Forget the dark entity crap.
#959
Xanth makes a good point about a deeper understanding of what it means to relax. When you really get there, then you'll know.

Also, various minor disturbances like itches and bed clothing uncomfortable-ness can be introduced to disrupt your relaxing/trance-work...this can be a serious pain in the *ss...like it has for me lately!...consider the possibility that it may be a psychological diversion...and work past it...in other words, ignore it...

Just one more challenge...get used to the idea...more to come...aaaarrrrghhh  :-D

Anyone you hear from or read about, keep in mind it is only their personal experience/perspective. I have not had experiences to this depth and I've been experiencing for forty plus years. Wish I could say I have, but I simply haven't.

Certain souls, moving on to other experiences and being unavailable, the idea seems to make sense; then again some speak of encountering their memory or impression upon the local substance, like footprints or recordings...I met my father briefly back in 2010, but I'll admit I'm unsure of what that exactly involved...

It is always worthwhile to put out the request.  :-)

My interest in AP had waned in the '90's and business kept me grounded. Having some free time one day in 2006, I was surfing the web and Googling various subjects when I ran out of ideas. Try astral projection popped into my head...I did and the Pulse was the first search result. The wealth of new information, ideas, theories and varied perspectives was like stumbling into some ancient treasure room. Difficulties and questions that I had encountered with AP that were not explained by the many books I had collected on the subject over the decades were now being cleared up and my experiences began to pick up again, now with much more consistency and a sense of evolution. I lurked and studied for two years and finally registered in 2008. Like soarin, I checked out many of the others but none had the whole package of activity, personality and quality of the Pulse.

First house I moved into with some college mates, we had a friendly young lady of a ghost from the 19th century watching over and protecting the house. Coolest place I ever lived just by the ambience she provided.

I'll have to write up that story sometime...
#963
This was a test.

You were expected to have a realization about something.

Just giving you the answer would deprive you of the benefit of the lesson being offered, plus it would spoil the fun. :-D

You will figure it out in time. Then the next lesson will be presented. I hear schoolbells ringing!
#964
Interesting comments.

In forty+ years experiences, I've never thought of food or drink, nor been presented with them, nor taken a bite or drink, so I have little to offer other than that fact.

Part of this may have to do with the fact that, at least early on, I always had difficulty realizing certain grounding techniques such as grabbing a physical object to stabilize and extend an experience.

As super-extreme as some sensibilities can become, I can only imagine that of taste. Lol
#965
Welcome to the Pulse!

What you are describing are pretty common early exit sensations, so whatever you are doing is apparently working insofar as getting you to this point. The key is to stay calm and work your way through the sensations and this may take several tries. The rapid heart feeling will calm down with a few more experiences. Try working in some floating or swaying side to side feelings and just release and go with it.

Check out some of the dark blue sticky topics at the top of the first and third boards. There is some really good information in those.

Don't be creeped out by this; just start to become aware of how absolutely wondrous the multiverse is around us and it shows itself in many varied and even personal ways.

One of my favorites is having a meaningful question on my mind and pulling a random book off the shelf, flipping to a random page and resting my finger wherever it wants to settle; the corresponding sentence or paragraph often has a significant message for me.

Some will say this is simply a form of wish-fulfillment and early on and to a degree it may even be true, but given a number of hits, the magic will become clear.

Oh yeah, and Welcome to the Pulse!

Frustration was the key word I was wondering about.

Your experience sounds a lot like my Back to School experience last Spring.

This may have been a simulation/lesson for you. In mine, I knew it was a lesson, but I missed the central issue, thinking it had to do with either intent or determination. No matter how much intent or determination I put into the experience, I was getting nothing but failure; absolutely everything that I thought should work simply didn't work; this led to increasing frustration and doubt and finally the simulation ended.

The lesson, I realized, was not about intent or determination, but about controlling my mindset and not succumbing to my frustration.

Hope that gives some ideas...

What were your thoughts and emotions while the bike was losing power and just before you awoke?
#969
From what you have described, you have a strong ability towards clairvoyance and clairaudience. This may not be immediately conducive to OBE but you sound like you are getting some energetic exit sensations from time to time.

We all have different strengths. The lesser ones may have to be exercised no matter how strong other strengths may be.

Middle of the night, early morning...have you tried going into trance and seeing what happens? The sequence can be pretty complex but with your innate talent, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't happen like 1,2,3...just focus within a stabilized scene and...poof! make the transition...

Okay...the quick course...find an image that morphs, then finally stabilizes, then step into it...it requires a bit of balance...lol! Then some emotional control, then an understanding of intent, then some mental configurations...

That's pretty much all of it.
#970
That is probably some early energy sensations. Next time allow them to develop and follow them as far as they might take you; just stay curious.

Yes, a long, tiring day can lead to this. It's good that you noticed this.

Okay, I'll cut to the chase, which is just the way I eventually find myself...

Anybody...admittedly needing a fair amount of research, could put together a list of purported experiences such as you have; if this is the case, then I really don't care about your purpose and will move on to people who have legitimate questions about the art.

If you have truly had the breadth of experiences that you describe, then you are pretty much a natural and have little or no need to cast about for a "system" to follow, much less an egoistic version of Cabbalistic ritual.

You don't need High Magik.

You say you have been practicing for years...at what? You don't need others like Bashar, if that's not working for you. Just lay down, get quiet and put forth the request of what you truly want.

Given your experiences that you have reported, it should be pretty easy...so what's the problem?

Any questions, please ask.
#972
Having re-read many of your earlier posts, it occurs to me that you have a wonderful variety of experiences and nascent abilities to develop. A lot of it may involve third eye development, which you have noticed.

The choice is really up to you; what resonates?

Is it yoga, kundalini development, chakra development, kabbalistic study, chi and qigong work, AP exploration?

Or do you just go into meditation/trance and put forth the request to be shown the next thing you need to learn or ability to develop?

#973
Welcome to the Pulse!

If you went through that experience without having any prior knowledge of AP, then I tip my hat to you! That was a lot to take in and you held yourself together very well to have continued the experience as long as you did.

Everything you are describing is normal early on and with more experiences the speed and noise and intensity will lessen and you will feel more control. Just stay calm and curious and allow the experience to take you where it will.

The key is to be in control of your emotions and not let any fear or doubt take over which become greatly magnified in this environment and will negatively alter your experience.

This Non-Physical environment is very safe and if you don't actively go looking for trouble, you shouldn't run into any. Always know that you are safe and protected.

Also start thinking about places or people you would like to visit, form this desire into a short, simple mental statement that will be triggered the next time you find yourself "out"; this is what we call having an INTENT and you will find it a necessary thing to help you navigate.

Check out the dark blue stickies at the top of this board and the Welcome To Out of Body Experiences board for topics that will answer some more questions for you; anything else, just ask.

Well done!

#974
Like you told me once Szaxx, we don't always get the experience we expect, but sometimes a related experience we may need (or someone else may need, in this case). Nice work.

Europa versus Europe...an interesting twist...like mine, your Guides have an interesting sense of the ironic.

Was there something under the ice of Europa you were looking for?

I could also mention the gravel drive, but that was maybe more a humorous reminder for me, I somehow think...funny guys... :-D

You are very welcome Scott.

I will share some more ideas that I think may be relevant to your progress right now. Some of these ideas are pretty common and consistent with early attempts and experiences, other ideas are just MY interpretation of what I think you may be dealing with based on my studies and personal experiences; so take what resonates with you and shelve the rest, at least for now, it may make more sense to you later on.

Your thinking and perspective will necessarily change and expand as you pursue this art.

1 -OBE/Astral Projection/Phasing etcetera are all the same thing: it's a re-focusing of your awareness/consciousness into any of various dimensions or subtle bodies (the specific determination of this is another topic of discussion -suffice it to say that we are re-focused somewhere, in something, within environments where we can learn and experience). Evidence would indicate that you are projecting right now, focused within your physical body. Every night you dream and this is a projection or re-focusing into your subconscious Dreamspace; you're just not consciously aware within it. With practice, you can become aware within and this produces a Lucid Dream. With still more practice, you can consciously move from your personal Dreamspace into a more collective Astral Dreamspace and eventually from there into the Astral proper and beyond (again this is just MY current labeling system). So, your dreaming can be a great departure point into these new environments and from your post, I see that you are already making progress in recalling your dreams; that is the first step and more can be done. Start thinking about what Dream Triggers may be showing up in your dreams.

2 -The standard early perspective people have of OBE/AP is that by relaxing deeply/meditating/trancing you will eventually drift out of your body and go exploring the Physical dimension or what is commonly referred to as the RTZ (Real Time Zone). The evidence for this is almost endlessly arguable: some perceive what appears to be the Physical Reality (PR) with no changes, most others, including me, perceive a very fluctuating kind of environment which makes me think it is just my interpretation of a new environment, trying to "fit" it into my old perspective. Wherever this RTZ actually is, becomes a moot question since after a number of experiences here, our environments change, evolve and gain a greater solidity and consistency.

3 -Focus 10 in the Monroe model is also known as MABA or Mind Awake/Body Asleep. When you achieve this state, you will most definitely know it. When I am in it, I usually recognize that my body is softly snoring and the moment of realization is quite remarkable. As far as your lunchtime F10 practice, I think that is fine, but I doubt you will achieve MABA in the car. I tend to think that any practice of F10/meditation/visualization is good but I guess the techniques need to be generally good ones. Otherwise it might be a problem of "Practice doesn't make perfect, it just makes permanent". Personally, I like your 3am wake up idea; I just think you need to engage in some minor activity for 20-40 minutes. This is known as the WBTB or Wake, Back To Bed technique and helps to disconnect your awareness from your physical body which is pretty quickly ready for more sleep.

4 -What we are looking for, early on and even for me now, are opportunities when we can take advantage of our body being tired enough to drift back into sleep, but our awareness is sharp enough to resist the sleep gravity. Middle of the night, early morning, naps in the afternoon...these are good times to try. Our first few experiences will likely come almost accidentally, but a certain amount of preparation needs to be done to facilitate this process.

5 -IMO an internal, personal discussion needs to take place. Assume for a moment that AP is a natural condition that our spiritual evolution is bringing us towards, or that our Western culture has biased us away from it, or both even...and that there are levels within our personalities whether they are a Higher Self, the Conscious Self, a Lower Self or toss in at the minimum Freud's Ego, Superconscious and Subconscious...

My point is that it may not be so simple as discovering the concept of AP one day and making the decision to project the next night or even the next month. Some people may have more of a natural ability to do this, but for many I think, an internal discussion needs to happen and a kind of permission asked and received.

We can help in that discussion by using affirmations to communicate with our inner selves. This is an effective technique to reprogram our inner computer and connect with our Higher and inner Selves, however you wish to conceptualize them. Some ideas:

"I ask permission of my Higher Self and Subconscious to allow and assist me to have an Out of Body Experience. I want this and can do this."

"I remember my dreams and have greater awareness within them. I am better at remembering every day."

"Tonight I am fully conscious and aware within my dreams."

Say them aloud three times every night or the more often the better. Write them down ten times. Write them on a piece of paper and put that under your pillow. This is all re-programming for your inner selves. It certainly can't hurt and may surprise you with its effectiveness.

Hope these ideas help, any questions, ask.
