The ORB - O.O.B.E.

I've got this track.  It's kind of... strange, although it doesn't remind me of OBEs.

And I like it too!  :-D

Whoa, someone who's heard The ORB. :P I've never had an OBE but I would've thought that track would fit in nicely to at least some kind of a OBE. Maybe not then.

Selski

Hi SpeaK

I own a lot of Orb stuff.  I particularly like the track called "earth (gaia)".

I like their kind of experimental music - landscapey and unusual (you might even say "quirky"!)  :-D

'Dweller on the Threshold' by Van Morrison. In fact, from the title of his album Astral Weeks, and some of the themes running through his songs, I think he is (or was in his younger days) very much into all things to do with AP.

My favourite AP song is 'And She Was' by Talking Heads. The lyrics are so obviously about OBE that it makes me laugh that people I know who really like the song, don't see what it's about!!

And She Was

And she was lying in the grass
And she could hear the highway breathing
And she could see a nearby factory
She's making sure she is not dreaming
See the lights of a neighbor's house
Now she's starting to rise
Take a minute to concentrate
And she opens up her eyes

The world was moving she was right there with it and she was
The world was moving she was floating above it and she was
and she was

And she was drifting through the backyard
And she was taking off her dress
And she was moving very slowly
Rising up above the earth
Moving into the universe
And she's drifting this way and that
Not touching the ground at all
And she's up above the yard

The world was moving she was right there with it and she was
(Hey, hey)
The world was moving she was floating above it and she was

Hey, hey, hey

She was proud about it... no doubt about it
She isn't sure about what she's done
No time to think about what to tell him
No time to think about what she's done
And she was

Hey hey, hey hey, hey!

And she was looking at herself
And things were looking like a movie
She had a pleasant elevation
She's moving out in all directions
Oh, oh oh

Hey hey hey (repeated..)

The world was moving she was right there with it and she was
Hey, woo hoo
The world was moving she was floating above it and she was
Hey, hey

Joining the world of missing persons and she was
Missing enough to feel all right and she was
I woke the same as any other day except a voice was in my head...

Dream Weaver
~ Gary Wright
I've just closed my eyes again
Climbed aboard the dream weaver train
Driver take away my worries of today
And leave tomorrow behind

(chorus)
Ooh dream weaver
I believe you can get me through the night
Ooh dream weaver
I believe we can reach the morning light
Fly me high through the starry skies
Maybe to an astral plane
Cross the highways of fantasy
Help me to forget today's pain

(chorus)

Though the dawn may be coming soon
There still may be some time
Fly me away to the bright side of the moon
And meet me on the other side
"A moral being is one who is capable of reflecting on his past actions and their motives - approving of some and disapproving of others"  -  Charles Darwin

David Warner

DreamWeaver..

Ooh dream weaver
I believe you can get me through the night
Ooh dream weaver
I believe we can reach the morning light
Fly me high through the starry skies
Maybe to an astral plane

I took a walk around
the world to ease my troubled mind
I left my body lyin'
somewhere in the sands of time...

Radiohead - Pyramid Song

I jumped in the river and what did I see?
Black-eyed angels swam with me
A moon full of stars and astral cars
All the things I used to see
All my lovers were there with me
All my past and futures
And we all went to heaven in a little row boat
There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt

I jumped into the river
Black-eyed angels swam with me
A moon full of stars and astral cars
And all the things I used to see
All my lovers were there with me
All my past and futures
And we all went to heaven in a little row boat
There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt

There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt
There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt

Love that song :)

Selski

Someone told me that "Silly Boy Blue" by David Bowie was about astral projection.

A verse to probably confirm that...

You wish and wish, and wish again
You've tried so hard to fly
You'll never leave your body now
You've got to wait to die
